"The Gingrich campaign has said it would continue to use material from a 2007 primary spot that never was used either online or in broadcast. It was determined then that use of the spot would not contribute toward a positive primary nor help in the battle against a general election opponent so it was never used and only screened one time for reporters. The spot in question is being used without approval or authorization and with disregard for copyright. The bootlegged spot was never released by my campaign in 2007. I have repeatedly stated I am not endorsing a candidate. I asked the Romney campaign several weeks ago to pull a spot that used direct material from my daily radio commentary, which they promptly did. The Gingrich campaign has stated they will not withdraw the use of this material in spite of our request. I will let voters draw their own conclusions."
Previous statement:
Any use of an out of context quote from the Republican Presidential primary 4 years ago in a political ad to advocate for the election or defeat of another candidate is not authorized, approved, or known in advance by me. I have made it clear that I have not and do not anticipate making an endorsement in the GOP primary, but will support the nominee. My hope is to defeat Barack Obama and win majorities in both the House and Senate, not to attack any of the Presidential candidates who might be our nominee.

I am taking the liberty to post a comment I saw on the internet not posted by me, because it shows a point of view not normally associated with Republicanism that is, believe, still very cogent.
"Mitt says he pays about 15% in taxes because he is just taking advantage of the tax code, and herein lies the problem. The reduction of the capital gains rate from 20% to 15% was the result of aggressive lobbying by companies like, you guessed it, Bain Capital. The playing field is not level, and there is no way working folks can compete with corporate money. Romney says that his wealth is the result of his hard work. He also says that the $40 million he made the past two years was from a blind trust, and so he doesn't know what the investments are meaning that he made $40 million doing no actual work himself.
If any of the GOP candidates are elected, Mitt will be paying close to 0% as they all want to lower or eliminate the capital gains tax. If you believe in government of the rich, by the rich and for the rich, by all means, vote for Romney."

Re: Florida "Ad Wars" Update
Sad part about Florida is the Romney campaign did not have to "take down the opponent" the way they did to win. Poking a grizzly in his backyard in winter does not sound wise.

(for all the history lovers out there d.a., mxn.wilson)
Between November 1775 and February 1776, Colonel Henry Knox and a team of engineers used sledges to retrieve 60 tons of heavy artillery that had been captured at Fort Ticonderoga on Mount Defiance.
Bringing the cannons across the frozen Hudson and Connecticut rivers in a technically challenging and complex operation, Knox and his team arrived back at Cambridge on January 24, 1776.

L.A.Mike: my sense of the last debate was that Newt Gngrich was stunned speechless by the open letter from Bob Dole earlier in the day supporting Romney. Gingrich would have looked up to Dole and been crushed by the rejection. That enabled Romney to look very aggressive in attacking a wounded opponent that evening, but you notice Santorum was able to silence Romney, so it was the combination of angry Mitt and depressed Newt that proved decisive. I believe that if Newt had been in a better mood, Florida would have been closer. But I always believed that the Miami money would turn out for Romney and make the difference.
PS thanks for the reference to the Huckabee comment. I will look for it.

David Anderson--I look for someone to run as an independent if Romney or Paul is nominated--then the liberals and moderates can split their votes between Obama and Romney. Obviously, most considered him the winner of the last debate because they believed his lies that were almost impossible to debunk at the time.
It appears so many have decided that Romney is the only one who has the money to compete with Obama. It is indeed a sad situation in the republican party as well as in our country.

It is very sad to see some who supported Huckabee for his honesty and decent campaigning now condemn him for continuing in the same vein.
I suspect a few never were supporters.
This is exactly why Huckabee didn't run this time: "We have piped unto you, and ye have not danced; we have mourned unto you, and ye have not lamented."
People want to mold candidates into who they want them to be, not who they are.

When do we accept that the Party has long tenticles.
Consider this reality; we have courts that are a mess, yet 5 S.C. Justices are graduates of Harvard and the other 4 Graduated frrom Yale; Presidents, Obama - Harvard, Bush - Yale, Clinton - Harvard, Bush - Yale and Romney has 2 degrees from Harvard. How long do we drink from the same well before we accept it is Poison?
Schools are a disaster and yet all the Pushed Ideas come from where - those same Ivy League Bastions that continue to tell us they are, "The Best & Brightest."
Excuse me but if this were t6he case we would not be where we are today. It is time for Real Change - Newt was forced out because he was working to do more than Balance the Budget - He was going to give our country back to US! That was Unacceptable to the Elites that control both these parties. The Solution is to join together under a New Banner and leave them playing their little game somewhere else!

mxnwilson: it is difficult to watch this primary season unfold. When I look at Internet comments on various threads, they are all for Paul and Gingrich and very few for Romney. But the polls all suggest that Romney will win Florida easily. It's upsetting to see the Marist poll asked more Democrats than Republicans who they would vote for, and then reported that Romney is ahead by 15. That's just not right. I never thought I would end up agreeing with Sarah Palin but I do.

Governor Huckabee, I was also one of your active supporters during the 2008 election. And I clearly remember the Ad. I also remember that we were on an important path, to make sure only Pro-Life candidates were elected. Your Ad reminds us of the $50 Abortions Gov. Romney gave the State of Massachusetts. He also was the first Governor in the US to give America, same sex weddings. How can we now believe he's changed, when you didn't believe it in '08? Please stand by your original convictions. Obama has been the biggest Abortion President this nation has seen, can we take the chance that Romney won't follow suit when even George Soros, says he has the same platform as Obama. Please remember the main thing, the foundations of Right to Life, which we as Americans are continuing to fight for. Dare we take the chance with someone who clearly says what the people want to hear, but his record proves otherwise which has been Gov. Romney's M.O. as you yourself clearly stated? Please don't take part in selling us 4 more years of innocent blood. But let God be your guide in this extremely important election to win the people's cause against an oppressive and extorting government in overdrive.

I heard that Huck had endorsed Romney today on Rush. I am glad to say from what I read here that this does not seem to be true. If Huck had run he would have had my support. I'm siding with Newt due to his American Historical perspective and his long record of being a leader for conservatism (the first time I heard Newt I thought he should be president). I go to the Chapter in Huck's book "Do the Right Thing" This tells me all I need to know about why not to support Romney. If Huck had supported Romney- that would have meant my withdrawal from HuckPac.

A liberal pundit made a statement the other day in reference to the last CNN GOP debate--Romney did score a touchdown all right, but he ran the wrong way and scored the points after crossing the goal line for democrats. George Soros also stated there was not much difference in Romney and Obama with which I also agree. IMO, this is what many well meaning conservative politicans are achieving in their support for Mitt Romney--scoring many points but for the wrong team.

Gov Huckabee stood as a principled leader. Someone different from other policitians. Someone you could trust.
I can understand why he would want to remain neutral is this campaign but he is clearly going beyond this and siding up with Romney at every opportunity.
Either he is caving under pressure from the Fox News establishment (in which case he is becoming a part of the problem of media bias), or he cut a deal with Romney last year to stay out of the race (VP slot?). The latter alternative wouldn't surprise me because he was leading all the polls when he surprised everyone when he announced he wasn't planning to run. I wouldn't have a problem with this if he was neutral to a fault, but clearly he isn't. In fact, to cozy up to Romney at the expense of fellow Conservative candidates (and without full disclosure of any deal) would be treacherous. Either way, in my eyes his actions makes him unworthy of support.

Re: Endorsements,Ad Pulls,Advice
Dear Governor,
Thanks for letting us "come and reason together" and/or "vent"
Thanks for reminding folks that you will not endorse anyone until after the GOP primary. This gives you unique freedom to give advice.
I was impressed to hear that the Romney campaign pulled an ad. It must have been because they had to.
And I was impressed to hear that the Gingrich campaign kept their ad up. It must have been because they had to.I suppose it's like comparing apples and oranges, anyway. Or, better yet, eggs and ham.
Finally, I encourage all to revisit the January 26, 2012 CNN debate in Florida.
I was pleased to see how well Newt did at the debate considering the storm outside that night. I'm sure a lot of folks were pleased to see him take their advice and run with it smoothly.
Overall, Rick was the solid lawyer and son and husband; Mitt was the solid wealthy businessman and husband; Dr. Paul was the solid doctor and "astronaut" and husband; Wolf was the solid CNN liberal moderator; but Newt was big, solid ,gracious. He was for lack of a better term….presidential.

I would like to see the FairTax H.R.25 included in as one of the possible solutions to clean up, stimulate, increase employment and over all make America better.
I see so many benefits we would get from having the FairTax. First we have to get it out in the open with active support. You could start with bumper stickers on your vehicle, putting up signs, signing up for email updates and joining local FairTax groups.
Gov Huckabee did a great job represent the Fair Tax at the House Ways and Means Committee hearing in 2011. Thank You Mike Huckabee.
Sometimes I believe Mike misses to opportune time to interject the idea of The FairTax, when he is doing an interview and the subject of tax reform comes up. Like when he was talking to Sen. Rubio this weekend. Just a thought.

I would like to dispute the polls that claim Obama would defeat Gingrich more decisively than he would defeat Romney. Not everyone knows that the biggest donors to both Obama and Romney include Goldman Sachs and the financial establishment. Gingrich has no such support and therefore no such obligation to the establishment. When a nation is prosperous, a caretaker President, like the one Obama turned out to be and Romney would be, is fine. However, this nation is in dire straits and needs a man who has the toughness to take on the establishment and make the big changes needed, foremost in spending cuts, but also changes in tax policy. You can imagine what Romney's real views on tax policy are.
Big money doesn't care whether Obama is re-elected or Romney is elected because they both represent the status quo. But the establishment will fight to the death to prevent Gingrich from winning. Thus the polls distort the reality that will be when the real choices facing Americans are better understood.
I am ffor Gingrich, not because he is not a Mormon, not because he is less of a flip flopper than Romney, not even because he is a conservative, but because he is the only candidate of the people who has the needed experience in Washington DC.
I can only interpret Mike's unwillingness to support Gingrich openly on the theory is that he believes that no Republican, including himself, will be able to dislodge the incumbent in 2012. I am unable to believe that his feelings for Mitt Romney are any different than they were in 2008.

Mr. Huckabee, If you were really as concerned about the fate of the nation as you claim you are, you would know full well that this battle won't begin in November. It began decades ago, and this primary election may very well be the last opportunity this country has of salvaging the greatness it once knew.
If what you said four years ago differs so much from what you believe now, then just fess up to it and do like the majority of the talking heads at Fox News have done and start shilling for the RINO Romney. Don't pretend to sit on a fence post and toss logs at Former Speaker Gingrich, when he's every bit as conservative as you ever claimed to be. I'm very disappointed in you governor.

I watched the whole thing. Governor Huckabee says in the ad that he is going to prove the dishonest attacks on him and McCain. Then at the end is the quote where Governor Huckabee says, "if a man's dishonest to obtain a job, he'll be dishonest on the job."Now Governor Huckabee wants to distance himself from saying this. That is the one thing you can't escape from though, especially in this age of you tube and internet. I am very sad that Governor Huckabee is willing to lie in order to support Romney now. What Governor Huckabee said on Neil Cavuto's show was an outright lie. He said that the clip was not specifically about Romney but to include all candidates. Does Governor Huckabee have a memory lapse or something? I would have never believed Governor Huckabee would be caught telling an outright lie, if I hadn't seen and heard it myself. This is indeed a very sad day.
Governor Huckabee knows better. If he had a question about it, why didn't he go check it out just like the rest of us did? You don't go on national TV without checking the facts. It is political suicide when you say something that could easily be fact checked and Governor Huckabee knows this. He owes every single one of us who gave so much of ourselves to support him, only to have him now turn around and tell an out right lie. And he owes Newt Gingrich the biggest apology. Why is he doing this? Someone said well he has to protect his job because Bain Capital owes a majority share of FOX News. Someone else said he has to pay for his big house in Florida. Well here is another quote from Governor Huckabee that he seems to have forgotten as well, "If you gain the whole world and lose your soul, what have you gained?"

I have a tremendous amout of respect for you but I have seen the ad from 4 years ago and it isn't taken out of context. You were conveying how you felt about Mitt Romney at the time. Bottom line is that you don't want to be perceived as making an endorsement. You must know in your heart that what Mitt stands for is not true conservatism and what he says is plain wrong.
My biggest fear is that many "real" conservatives are going to have such a distaste for Romney if he is nominated that they are going to just stay home and not bother voting in the general election. -

A public domain quote of Governor Huckabee is used in this ad that he says can be used by anyone and he did not know of this ad. Regardless, the quote is just as valid this time as it was in 2008. It is a sad fact that Republicans for the most part, rather than continuing to stand up for what right no matter what, will cave in and give the battle to the Democrats. This is what they have been doing with Obama and they are doing it again with Gingrich, by caving in to join Romney in massacring with lies and distortions, the only Reaganite in the race Newt Gingrich. If Republicans don't back Newt, get ready for a lot more than four years of Obama. Get ready for the American Chavez in Obama.

Gov. Huckabee--
I thoroughly understand your reason as well as the need for a disclaimer, however, all who followed the '08 primaries remember vividly the dishonest comments of Mitt Romney.
I have given some thought to the fact that he could have made some changes in his habits of discrediting his opponents through misrepresenting their records and his obvious pattern of dishonest answers when cornered by a challenger of an interviewer.
All those who viewed the CNN GOP debate on Thursday, witnessed how he was clearly caught in another round of lies and deceit. So, it's not really about what was said anymore in '08, but rather what he continues to do in this primary election.
As I read the various posts on Facebook, your supporters are divided between two candidates at present, but I haven't read one supportive statement for Mitt Romney. I realize I may have no other choice but to vote for him in the general, but there's no way I could ever support him whole heartedly. Thanks in advance for allowing me to present my views!!
