Statement From Governor Mike Huckabee On The Kentucky US Senate Race

"The only thing worse than a person attempting to show-off and parade his faith for the purpose of getting a vote is a person who would falsely and viciously attack his political opponent's faith and lie about it. The latest ad by Jack Conway will be studied by future political scientists as the most egregious example of slash and burn sleaze politics. An apology for such a vile attack would be meaningless from Conway unless he truly repented from such a classless attack. If there is any good news in this despicable attempt to smear Rand Paul and his family it is that the decent people of Kentucky won't have a hard decision as to who they would think best represents them in the United States Senate. Kentucky people aren't as gullible as Jack Conway must take them for. I'm proud to stand with Rand Paul and his family through this disgusting attempt by his opponent to win even at the expense of his own soul."

Here is the video in which chris Matthews is giving Jack Conway a hard time about this negative ad.

It seems that even the liberals are questioning this attack as it probably contradicts their claim of being the party of tolerance, and we have some of the liberal tv hosts like Chris Matthews trying to separate themselves from Jack Conway by blasting them in their interviews.

The attack on Rand Paul is truly disgusting; the people of Kentucky are wiser than Jack Conway wants them to be, and Governor Huckabee's stand for Rand Paul has me cheering!

What many people do not realize in the United States is that a person can believe in any doctrine or dogma without a smear to their reputation as to their faith in the God that they worship. That is what it means to have religious freedom here in the US. A person can jump from one religion to another and any name calling regarding this is against the Constitution of the United States. What matters most in any persons life is the morality based life style which helps us to base whether or not a person would be a good candidate for a political office. It's ok to have God in politics but not religion. A separation of Church and state means that religion should not be a basis for political clout or influence. Put the doctrines aside, does the candidate display moral based social standards that would benefit the society he wishes to serve? If so elect him.

That is one of the most disgusting things I've ever seen. This election will go the way of North Carolina 2008 as it should. You just don't attack people's faith like that.

This is typical Conway arrogance, He is a spoiled rich kid with daddy's money.

Good for you Governer H. I live in Kentucky and have watched with distress how this campaign has gotten out of control. I hope you come back to visit us someday this is truly not representative of this State and its citizens. This will all blow up in Mr. Conway's face and no doubt be a benchmark in low behavior for years to come.

It's great to stand at the hour of decision with someone who deserves your support, disregarding for the moment what might be important philosophical differences. However, I have heard Rand Paul described as a libertarian, and heard you say that you are not one.

Once Rand Paul has been elected, it would be interesting to see a brief statement about the aspects of his political philosophy that you endorse, and those you believe to be counterproductive.

Thank you, Governor Huckabee --- candidate Conway's ad is truly contemptible -- totally "classless" as you say.

I just viewed this disgusting and deplorable attack on Rand Paul. I don't blame Paul for walking off the stage at the end of the debate and not shaking Conway's hand. Politics have truly stepped to a new low here. It has the sound of desperation and I believe it will only go in Rand Paul's favor.
