A Day Of Remembrance

September 11, 2001 is a tragic date in our nations history. Most Americans remember what they were doing and where they were the minute they heard the news that we had been attacked by terrorists. Two planes had hit the World Trade Center buildings. Another plane had flown into the Pentagon. And still another plane had crashed in a Pennsylvania field.

More than 3 thousand people lost their lives on 9/11.

That day was one of our nation's darkest, but the days that followed remained some of our brightest. When those towers fell, our collective spirit of freedom and national pride experienced an incredible rebirth. In a way, those attacks, while devastating to think about even today, made us stronger as a nation.

I hope every American joins me in praying for all those affected by this horrible act, in thanking first- responders who every day show little regard for their own life to protect ours and in thanking our magnificent military who continue to fight for our freedoms every day.

Just wanted to make a donation and leave a note to let Mike know that he still has my support and trust.

I get a lot of calls for donations from the RNC, Romney etc..

My problem is that the person making the call is reading a script and is essentially a paid "actor". I now ask the person "Are you a volunteer?" I wish this pay for a call would stop. When we made calls for Governor Huckabee we were ourselves and this may be why it was so effective. I hope we can do this again.

As I wrote on my Facebook yesterday, 9/11/2010:

?"Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path." I am thanking God today that his Word continues to be a lamp and a light to this dark world especially as I reflect back to 9 years ago on 9/11/01. While not all may see it, the light that gives light to all men continues to illuminate the dark places. Remembering the familes of 9/11 today that they would be comforted by this Light.

I am also very grateful to America's first responders and also to the men and women of the U.S. Military. May they all find comfort in the light of Jesus Christ.

You can see two videos on this page from the Huckabee Show 9/11/2010.

The Governor is interviewing both Jon Voight and Mayor Rudy Giuliani about their thoughts on 9/11 and the state of our country.

I'll never forget the day class after class, unable even to begin to focus on the day's planned lessons, watched as the horror in New York and Pennsylvania and the Pentagon unfolded on the classroom television screen. I remember the sight of people in London weeping as they shared in our grief, and the undisguised glee on the part of the Taliban official interviewed by a reporter who tried to get him to say he disapproved of the terrorist act. I wonder what my Muslim neighbors are feeling on this day. There were people sharing their faith who lost their lives as the twin towers fell.

Jill, the link you posted is chilling--but certainly information of which we need to be made aware. As Governor Huckabee said, I too hope every American is praying.

On 9/11/2001, my wife and I were on vacation in the little town of Chester, England. We walked into a bookstore, and saw the clerk crying. We asked what the problem was, and he said that a plane had crashed into the Pentagon, and "the twin towers are down". We couldn't believe our ears. My wife started to cry, and I said, "don't cry yet, we don't know what else is about to happen!".

We were due to fly home the next day, but Heathrow airport closed for the next five days. In the crisis, the people of England opened their arms to us. An internet cafe that had closed opened their doors at 11 pm so we could call our children in America. The inn we were due to check out of gave us free room until the airport reopened. On the day we left, Heathrow was filled with free food, drinks, and cots for stranded passengers. The civilized world was one on that terrible day, and we will never forget it.

    Dear Gov. Huckabee,

Thank you for your moving 9-11 show. It really touched my heart. I especially loved your closing statement about the 9-11 Cross, about God being there amidst the rubble, and the hope you have for our nation. Please post your closing statement as I cannot find it on youtube.

I hope that you will run in 2012. America needs your leadership and optimism.

    Thank you and God Bless.

Sept 11, 2001 was a very traumatic and torturous day for people of NYC. Very shocking. This event was not expected in the least. Will the peoples of this earth ever be safe in all corners? I hope so.

Thank you Governor for expressing your thoughts on this day of remembrance. It is indeed a time we will never forget as we reflect on those who lost their lives and express our gratitude to those whose lives have been disrupted immensely and yet continue to make so many sacrifices for our freedom.

Today is a day of introspection and reflection for me...) on 9-11-01, we, as Americans stood together. We prayed...political parties were meaningless, in comparison to the National need. We were amazed at the self-sacrifice of those on Flight 93 - We all believe we too, would be like that. But are we? This Country face...s much in the upcoming years and uniting, together, praying and being willing to sacrifice can see us through. Potitical "games" won't.

What a tragic day for our country, and yet it has renewed our spirits and allowed us to cherish our freedoms that much more. Pray for those left behind, remember the fallen, and pray for and thank those that are serving our country today. God bless America.

Thanks Governor Huckabee for your message.

It was so sad to see so many innocent people lose their lives on that day. We will pray today for them and their families who are still trying to recover from the horrible tragedy.

Here is a nice National Anthem video to remember those who lost their life that day:

We will never ever forget this day 9/11/2001. Watching the events unfold today brings back the many feelings of shock, disbelief, and rage toward the enemies of America that I felt on that day! We grieved with our citizens who suffered the most, those who lost their lives and all who lost loved ones and friends.
What a united America we became at that moment. So very many heroes on that day who gave their lives that others might live. American flags were seen waving everywhere !! At that time in our history we were all united Americans.
We should never forget what happened that day and it is imperative that our country stands strong against Islamic Terrorism and that we never have to experience an event like this one again.
This is my best effort: Please read and pass on.

That evil act changed America and exposed an evil enemy that has not given up. Thank you Governor for the reminder. We must stay vigilante.

Thanks Governor to calling us to what is important. I appreciate your principled leadership. 9/11 will always be etched on our minds, I know it is on mine as my mother's funeral was that day and the whole world seemed to be falling apart. But out of the dust of that terrible day came a sense of unity and even looking god-ward that was beautiful. Oh that it wouldn't take another 9-11 for us to get to that place of unity and looking to our Creator as a nation again.

Thank you, Governor, for reminding us all of the debt we owe to those who sacrificed their lives to save others in the 9-11 attack on our country.

This is already the ninth anniversary of that frightful day when Americans wondered if our government and economy would stand.

We dare not forget the dangers that even today threaten our country. We can not forget those brave men and women in the military and police force and firefighters who daily hold back the evil intent and the tragedy that seeks to destroy our freedoms and our lives.

I am looking forward to hearing more about the cross at Ground Zero on the Huckabee Show tonight and tomorrow night. Thank you for putting the focus where it belongs, on how God spoke to brave souls and encouraged them to save lives. As they saw a cross rising from the rubble, they could keep hope. It is through the cross of Christ that we are reminded of true sacrifice and love.

May God bless and comfort those today who lost loved ones in the 9-11 tragedy. May He provide help to those whose health is even today weakened by the ash and fumes they breathed while saving lives.

Former Mayor Giuliani of New York City was in the building next to the destroyed Twin Towers. He experienced the terror and the bravery--the best of people and the worst that people could do. Because over 200 brave men gave their lives, 98% of the people in the Twin Towers below the level where the hijacked planes crashed into the buildings were saved.

May we turn to God today in faith and humility, so He may truly bless our nation.

    GRACE, in Kansas, PRAYING

In memory of the victims and heroes of the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks against the United States, President Bush proclaimed that Sept. 11, 2002 be observed as "Patriot Day." Please observe this National Holiday tomorrow respectfully.

It's 9/11...watching replay of media coverage from that day and it still gets to me...still so unreal after 9 years.  I can't talk about it to my students without crying, so I just didn't this year.  They don't understand why the words "let's roll" choke me up when I try to tell about the heroes on that flight.  We had a president who referred to the terrorists as "evildoers".  Wonder what our current president would say if it happened today?

Remembering 9/11 tonight - the blue of the sky, the silence in the air, the smoke on the horizon, the fear in my heart, the horror in my mind...the flags on the cars, the prayers on our lips, the tears in our eyes, the shock on our faces. Remembering the heroes, the leaders, the victims. I will never, ever forget.
