Thanks Mike from Los Angeles. I was quite surprised to see my name on Rachel Maddow's MSNBC show. Don't know what to think right now. It's sensitive.

Re: Is it Legal? Rachel Maddow's handling of this topic on her MSNBC show, The Rachel Maddow Show (April 14th reports)
Not trying to start a fight, but it is strange how Ms. Maddow and her advance team producer Bill Wolff 1) headline the contents of their show's report on Mike's response much like the way the student journalist did at The Perspective; by giving the title of their own reports misleading information.
It is amazing how these folks just cannot understand how telling the truth does not frighten us; it is the twisting of that truth. "Come on Rachel and Bill, tell the truth."
Also,I wonder if it is illegal for Miss Maddow and Mr. Wolff to include the name of one of the citizen's name on this blog at the bottom of the part she shows on her show? Please take a look. A bloggers name is shown! Look about 1 minute 50 seconds into her report.
Can Ms. Maddow publish a name of a US citizen on her report when talking about another public person? These folks are falling apart. Poor journalism and reporting is now grossly distorting Mike's views, but even showing names of other bloggers on her show. Amazing.

First of all I need to say that I was in a hurry preparing the last post to this blog. I meant to write that I do not believe that Romney is the author of the health care bill in Massachusetts. Thank you.

Govenor Huckabee:
You did a great job in your interview with the young student. I listened to that interview. As far as the health care in Massachusetts I seriously do not believe that oRmney is not the original author of this law in Massachusetts. I remember reading about
Senator Kennedy working on a national health care bill before Romney was in office. I know that he had numerous occassions where he was in the news with Kennedy and most probably had conversations regarding that health care bill Kennedy was preparing. Only Romney preempted him before Kennedy was able to impliment his ideas. In this I am connecting the dots. Why didn't Obama and his crew invite Romney to their celebration of the passage of the Health Care Bill but invited Kennedy's widow. Also, I remember the Democrats egging McCain on to ask Romney to be his running mate in 2008. The Democrats said they wanted Romeny and that he is crooked. Anyway to me the dots are starting to become connected. You need to look between the lines. This is my take on Romney being the author of the Health Cae in Massachusetts. -

I listened to the taped intereview and the Governor is absolutely correct - his comments were taken out of context! Gov. Huckabee I continue to be amazed how you handle questions that are obviously meant to be provocative, you articulated your position with an impressive calm veracity. If anything my support for you is strengthened!

Actually, this is what happened to Rick Warren. Then when he offered an apology to the gay community, he got hammered again, so sometimes it is just a no win situation.

Mr. Huckabee you just came one step closer to the 2012 presidency in my opinion.
At least you convinced me enough to have my vote.
Whether people agree with you or not America needs to wake up and see that a politician who can speak their own opinion and have intelligent thoughts of their own without bending to the whims of crybabies and special interest concerns is just what this country needs.
You should be hanging around more with Sarah Palin in my opinion. A bulletproof wall to stop this politically correct liberal nonsense that is driving this country into the ground.
I applaud you for not being afraid to speak your mind and defending your right to do so.

Mike,
Finally someone with the guts to say what is on the minds of millions of Americans nationwide. Same sex marriage is simply WRONG!
I have two step children and I have a harder time insuring them and letting them use other benefits I have such as half price college tuition etc. but same sex life partners can do this with no problems whatsoever. WHY, Anyway thanks for your honesty and you will have my vote in the future. God Bless

Talk, Frank,
Well said. It's a free country and no one is forced to accept the Bible as an authority. But if you do bring it up, you aren't going to find any support there for same-sex marriage.
The media routinely uses headlines to marginalize Mike Huckabee, knowing that many viewers will not bother to read the articles. For instance, CNN recently did a poll of the 2012 GOP presidential primary, and the results were Huckabee 24%, Romney 20%, and Palin %15. They also compared several GOP candidates to Obama. The headline? "New poll on Obama vs. Palin." The liberal media loves promoting Palin because they know she is unqualified and can't win. CBS and MSNBC never mention anything positive about Huckabee, but they did manage to dredge up remarks he made about AIDS in 1992 before anyone understood how hard it is to transmit the virus. In 1992, Mitt Romney was trying to find room to the left of Ted Kennedy, but you don't see that mentioned in articles about him.

Frank, I assume with your reference to homosexuality as perversion in the New Testament, you are referring to Romans chapter 1. However, the context makes clear that the author is saying that the people first began to worship idols and then began to engage in this behavior. This strongly suggests that the author is referring to the widespread practice of temple prostitution, in which sex acts were part of the worship of idols. This is supported by the decision of the apostles in Acts 15, which adjures Gentiles not to eat the blood of strangled animals, animals sacrificed at the temple, and sexual immorality. What these passages are about is the first commandment: You shall have no other gods before me. What this means for Gentiles is that they couldn't keep their old gods and must choose to embrace Christianity as their only religion. Not having sex as part of temple worship was just one part of it.

Unsupported by scripture? apparently you haven't read any, or you would know that God forbids man to lye with man, the Bible calls it an abomination, and states that those who do such, will not inherit Gods kingdom.
It also calls it perverse and wicked.
You might want to read up on that before you state that it's unsupported by scripture;)God bless Mike Huckabee, and all of you, and most of all God Bless America~

"The reporter has released the tapes. I fail to see where any discrepancy lies. Even if you support what he says (which I suspect most on this site do), you have to admit that the reporter quote Gv. Huckabee accurately."My response:
Jeremy, the discrepancy you "fail to see" is in the headlines the writer uses to mischaracterize Huckabee's remarks. i.e., "rips Steele", "compares same-sex marriage to incest".That is not an accurate portrayal of Huckabee's comments, and it leads a casual observer to jump to an inaccurate assumption about them.
Hopefully, people will read the entire article. His comments on the subject are excellent

"If you look at what's happened in Mass., in Iowa and elsewhere you'll see that these equations (to bestiality, polygamy and other things) are ill founded and untrue, and demean people who otherwise could be brought to your side."My response:
Andrew, you are incorrect. Mike huckabee was making he legal parallel, which is true and accurate. He obviously was not saying the various perversities are all the same thing."as a Christian I find your assertion of "perversity" to be off the mark and also unsupported by scripture."
My response:
Then you do not know enough scripture. The Old and New testaments both have numerous passages that clearly refer to homosexuality as "perversity".I expect you are turning a blind eye away from those scriptures because you want to fool yourelf into thinking they do not exist. But they do.

Mike is correct. He spoke the truth. Hopefully, he won't back down and issue some ridiculous apology as the media is now going after him, big time.

This story is getting significant coverage. CBS and NBC both feature it on their websites. That's a good thing. It's good for a lot of the public to see the story and read about what Mike Huckabee has to say on these important issues.
Obamacare is similar to Romneycare, and there's no good way for Romney to explain himself out of that knot.
Same-sex marriage, along with the other related issues of "don't ask, don't tell" and the defense of marriage act, are about to become even bigger issues than they have been (Supreme Court confirmation).
This article will be beneficial for him and will give him z big boost among maistream voters (not among the liberals of the media).

As much as I support your economic policies, I do find the slippery slope argument offensive. I'm a true conservative but my son is gay, much to my discontent, and I find these kinds of comments offensive.
If you look at what's happened in Mass., in Iowa and elsewhere you'll see that these equations (to bestiality, polygamy and other things) are ill founded and untrue, and demean people who otherwise could be brought to your side.
Whatever the context, I'm very disappointed if your remarks are close to this. And frankly what you've said will happen isn't happening the places gay marriage is legal.
To Louis Buren: as a Christian I find your assertion of "perversity" to be off the mark and also unsupported by scripture.

I think it's a shame that you would call this a gross distortion. What you say on the tape is pretty clear and the student paper took nothing out of context.
Remember what you said in the interview about the importance of honesty. Perhaps you should use that as a guide post for how you conduct yourself.
You're being both intellectually and morally dishonest here and you do nothing but bring shame on yourself by doing such.

Absolutely not -- nothing has been distorted. I have heard the audio recordings and they are, in fact, accurate. Mr. Huckabee, you won't get my vote.

We know the truth Mike, and we support you 110%. I'm still hoping and praying that you run for president in 2012! I still LIKE MIKE for president!
If people want to live perverse lives and die in sin, that's their choice, but we as Christians must fight it tooth and nail at every end to make sure that laws don't assist in the perversion of society.

The key issue in the confirmation hearings for Obama's nominee to the Supreme Court likely will be same-sex marriage, along with the related issues of "don't ask, don't tell", and The Defense of Marriage Act.
The two most talked about names for the nomination are Diane Wood and Elena Kagan, and both of them are strong advocates of the homosexual agenda on these issues. Both of them would be "yes" votes on the Supreme Court for finding a right to same sex marriage in the constitution (in the due process and equal protection clauses of the 14th amendment, to be more specific).
That means all of the state bans on same-sex marriage that voters in most of the states have passed would be immediately overturned and same-sex marriage would be legal in all of those states, even though the voters in the states overwhelmingly voted for the ban.
That is a scary threat.
Both Wood and Kagan also would vote for overturning "don't ask, don't tell" and the Defense of Marriage Act.
Going into the confirmation hearing in July, the public needs to be educated about the importance of this issue for the nominee's confirmation. Once the public realizes what's going on and realizes what a threat to the public the nominee is, then the public will demand that the nominee be blocked.
That should be the goal.
I encourage Mike Huckabee to lead the fight in educating the public about the grave threat to them by the nominee on this issue.
I encourage him to lead the fight to block the nominee.

I strongly support Mike Huckabee's views expressed in The Perspective article -- including those about the similarities of Romneycare to Obamacare as well as those about same-sex marriage.
I just now read the article on line. Actually, I don't know what Mike Huckabee is worried about. All of the statements he made in the article are fine (accurate, even-keeled, insightful). I see how he doesn't like the headlines the writer made-up, such as "rips Steele", "compares same-sex marriage to incest". That's not what Mike Huckabee actually says in the article, so as long as people read the article, no problem.
Hopefully the article will get some good circulation, because then people will get a chance to read some of the wise, convincing comments he makes in it.
