I read the op-ed in USA Today by Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi and House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer. I was disappointed to see the headline "Un-American Attacks Can't Derail Health Care Debate." Speaker Pelosi and Leader Hoyer say "let the facts be heard." At least they have that right. The American people have shown up at hundreds of townhall meetings to do just that. They want to voice their opinions and listen to what their Representatives in Congress have to say.
An American voicing their opinion at a meeting with their representative, even in a loud and raucous manner, is not disruptive. In fact, the right to freedom of expression is guaranteed by the First Amendment. In case our Congressional leaders need to be reminded, it says "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."
I have watched the news clips of many townhall meetings. At only two of the hundreds of meetings held, have I seen situations get out of control. Both of those incidents were caused not by the average Americans wanting to be heard, but by organized supporters of the Democrats trying to stop the free speech of people opposed to the proposed bill.
Incidentally, none of the Democrats seem to be talking about one of the big issues at these townhall meetings: How can Congress vote on a bill, or for that matter, the President sign a bill, that they haven't bothered to read. It makes you wonder who has written the bill? Will anyone who represents the American people bother to read it before they force it on the people?
The American people have every right to expect answers to their questions. They ask legitimate questions: Will this bill increase health care costs? Will it add to the out of control deficit? What effect will it have on elderly relatives, young families, small businesses, and every day people? Could it be that the Democratic leadership is trying stop these questions because they don't know the answers?

President Obama told a town hall meeting in Montana today that we do not have a health-care system, we have a disease-care system, because we wait until people are very sick, and then administer expensive treatments that come too late.
Now where do you suppose he would have gotten that idea from.....

It is no telling what kind of traps are laid out there for us and what a shame to be from a source that we should be able to trust. It is against the law what they are doing but I also hear that once they have these records in their possession it is against the law if they destroy them. So it is a catch-22. I don't think they have any intention of destroying them anyway or they would not have collected them in the first place. I agree, it will be interesting to see if this stops now.
On second thought maybe I need to go and check some of my old email that I have not opened yet .... way behind here! .... I hope NOT to find any.

It appears some in Congress recently took a stab at correcting the toxic derivative crisis. They keep putting it on a back burner. I thought it was an under lying problem to the financial market bailout. It appears legislation in 106th (2000) Congress S.2697, H.R.4541. S.3283, H.R.5660, H.R.4577 was tied to passing Commodity Futures Modernization Act of 2000.
I am having a difficult time making sense of this. Perhaps some of you can shed more light on derivatives. I am going to cut and paste some information I collected from the Congressional web site. The fix to part of the bailout problem appears to be in limbo.
The following Bills appear to be attempts to correct the legislation that favored the derivative market.

The healthcare "committees" would probably have looked at the prognosis and did a cost analysis, found a bad ROI, and referred you both to an "end of life" counselor.
If the patient was my age, or had any chronic conditions, it would have went directly to the end of life counselors.
Check out the book "ecoscience" penned by Obama's science adviser...
They're all eugenicists, that bunch...
It kinda reminds me of the movie "Mars Attacks".

I have also received these unrequested emails from the White House. I had been deleting them, but I still have the one I received yesterday as the Major Garrett's exposure to these emails caught my attention.
I have the same question that Major Garrett has--where are they getting these email addresses? I have signed many petitions, but can't recall any that I could have sent to the White House. I have also participated in several PollingPoint polls, the last one being called "GovPollingPoint." So now I am wondering why Gov. was placed in the name of this poll since the other polls dd not include it.
As I recall, I'm sure I did not receive these emails until after I had participating in this poll. It's going to be interested to see if I continue to receive these emails after this exposure.

However, they don't want a lack of reform to be enacted into legislation disguised as reform, that will further enrich those who should not be profiting from the illness of others, or lead to an even more inefficient and wasteful system than we already have. All reform proposals must be analyzed carefully to make sure that real reform occurs.
If the American people learn the facts, they will do the right thing as they always have. Your story is one more illustration that helps us understand the situation as it now exists, and I, at least, appreciate that you contributed it.

I've worked hard my entire life. I have private insurance. In 2005 my husband was diagnosed with a brain tumor. (Did I say that we both worked hard and that we both had insurance? Because I want you folks on here to understand that.)
My husband died six months later. We could not afford to go out of our immediate area for care because we had no 'out of network' benefits. So the quality of his brain tumor care was average -- not the top of the line that we may have received if we could have afforded MD Anderson in Texas.
In the end, his total bill (and he died within 6 months of diagnosis) was $560,000 for which I, his widow, was left with 10% of.
I have about $25,000 in student loans because I went to college. I've worked my entire life and now have lost my husband's income and am left with $56,000 worth of health care bills plus my student loans. I can barely pay my mortgage and will probably file for bankruptcy.
If either of the bills under consideration were in place when my husband became ill, our outcome would be somewhat different. We would have qualified for better care (he may have lived a few additional months) and my total out of pocket expense would not have been more than $5,ooo.
How can that be bad? If I file for bankruptcy the good citizens of this country will pay a lot more for me than I want them to, but I don't think I have a choice.
And, did I say that I've worked hard my entire life? Worked hard and I get to have nothing. Not because of anything I did, but because of an out of control health care system -- they did absolutely nothing but steal our money and do nothing for the $500K we paid.
So, know this. When you're against health care, you're against people like me.

He doesn't seem to be objective at all to me when it comes to health-care or most anything else. I haven't heard him say anything favorably in response to the plight of seniors and the end of life 'NO CARE BILL'.... All I hear is illegals, illegals, illegals !!
Those who have paid into this health care system with outrageous premiums for many long years, should now be just cast aside with limited coverage and 'death panels' as Palin describes.
The president has 'broken trust' with the American people and once you have did this then it is extremely hard to get it back.
I never had that trust to begin with but for the many who did, I believe finally that many are waking up .... a little too late though .... as I think we have a president who is not listening to the voice of the people even when they are in the majority ....
truly unlike any president to date in my memory who wants to totally disregard their voice.
I think he will try to push this bill through no matter what with just a few minor changes. Maybe a little dressing it up after being passed. (didn't think that was lawful) I WOULD LOVE TO BE WRONG.I am assuming it will help the conservative republicans to regain seats in 2010 because I don't think many of these democrats have a backbone to think or respond independently of the president on this bill or any other.
I again called my House rep. yesterday. The voice on the other end sounded scared and very guarded on every word they said.
My questions were:
How is he going to vote?

Did he tell you this?

Did anyone see Fox New's healthcare "fact check" in regard to abortion which stated claims that the bill would provide government mandated abortions were false?
Here is an e-mail I sent fox news on that very same subject:
I'm commenting in regard to the healthcare "fact check" piece on abortion that you ran earlier today. I feel that you were not objective in your reporting.
You stated that there were two bills: one which had an amendment banning the tax payer funding of abortion and one which did not. You used this to say that the bill would not mandate tax payer funded abortions and that any claims that said so were false. The problem was in what you didn't say.
You know very well that the Democratically controlled congress rejected an amendment that would have banned abortion in the original bill. This is a very significant fact, and if you were reporting objectively you would have mentioned it. There's no way of telling which bill will be passed, and the primary bill rejected the amendment for a reason. If you're going to do a "fact check" you may want to report on ALL of the facts.
I would comment more, but I'm positive that you are getting many other e-mails and phone calls that are similar to mine. If these town hall meetings teach you anything, they should teach you that the average American is smarter than most think. With that being said, I am happy that you are there to stand in the gap, but I could not remain silent on this issue, there is just too much at stake, so I am asking you, please live up to creed of "fair and balanced," and report all of the facts surrounding the different elements of this debate.

Anyone else get an unrequested email from the White-house?
Fox news correspondent 'Major' was questioning 'what's his name? - the Press. Sec' about those emails today that a number are saying that they received from the W.H. without asking to be on their list.
I did get an email from the white-house about two months ago and wondered "where did this come from?"
I thought that maybe I just was looking for a congressman's telephone number and that is how it happened, but according to 'Major' it should only be those who requested to be on their list and I DID NOT !!Of course, I unsubscribed and I haven't heard anymore.
The Press Secretary was very uncomfortable with the subject and wanted to move on to another question today.
Isn't all of this TRANSPARENCY just grand !!!

The Chicago Tribune reports that the Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund (MALDEF) has been going door-to-door in 11 Midwestern states, passing out flyers and encouraging the Latino population to participate in the upcoming census.
Susan Tully, national field director for the Federation for American Immigration Reform, says it is unfortunate that a large number of the Latinos that MALDEF is targeting are illegal aliens.
"We get this unbalance by counting people who have no legal right to be here and somehow claiming that this is their civil right to be counted. In fact, if you go on MALDEF's website, that's exactly what they're calling it," she points out. "They're actually counting people who have no legal presence, no legal right to be here, and taking representation away from American citizens in areas by counting illegal aliens."
A recent Wall Street Journal editorial pointed out that some states will gain more House seats than they deserve following the next census because illegal immigrants will be counted. Tully agrees that it is unfair for states in much of the Midwest that do not have as high a percentage of illegal aliens.
"They can get seats taken away from states for representation in the Midwest. And these seats are given then to places where they have huge populations of illegal aliens like California, Texas, and New York," she concludes.
Tully argues that before people are counted for the census, they should be required to show proof they are citizens or legal residents of the United States.

Gov. Huckabee, I'd like to suggest a VERY intriguing guest for your TV show.
Ms. Susan Gong is running for the Virginia House of Delegates (46th District). She has led a very interesting life which brought her to this point.
She was born and raised in China, and was jailed for pro-democracy activities. She later was able to study at Beijing University. Eventually she earned a scholarship to Harvard, where she earned her Ph.D. She became an American citizen in 2001, and says it was the proudest moment of her life.
She was a Democrat and even campaigned for John Kerry. She campaigned a short while for Obama, until she realized that his campaign reminded her of China's political regime!
She ended up campaigning for John McCain, and is now a Republican.
I thought she might make an interesting guest on your show!

Fox News did a good job reporting on Obama's comments in regard to his grandmother and end of life care, but there is a much more effective and telling interview that he did with the New York Times on April 4th, 2009. In this interview he made the same statements, but he expounded a little further. Here are the words that followed the quotes about his grandmother and end of life care to include the interviewer's question which lead to Pres. Obama’s shocking response:
OBAMA: “I mean, the chronically ill and those toward the end of their lives are accounting for potentially 80 percent of the total health care bill out here.”
LEONHARDT: (interviewer) “So how do you — how do we deal with it?”
OBAMA: "Well, I think that there is going to have to be a conversation that is guided by doctors, scientists, ethicists. And then there is going to have to be a very difficult democratic conversation that takes place. It is very difficult to imagine the country making those decisions just through the normal political channels. And that’s part of why you have to have some independent group that can give you guidance. It’s not determinative, but I think has to be able to give you some guidance. And that’s part of what I suspect you’ll see emerging out of the various health care conversations that are taking place on the Hill right now."
This is truly breathtaking! Not only has Obama admitted that he will have bureaucrats involved with people's "end of life care", but he has admitted that he will establish an "independent group” that is not through the "normal political channels" to take care of these decisions. Obama has admitted in his own words that an independent panel will make end of life decisions for seniors and the chronically ill.

The above link is to a USA Today article on the health care bill. The article has some good points in it.
Here is one good point it makes about the "death panels". This point puts the "death panels" into a clearer context and is a powerful argument against the bill.
"Confusion and fear are also being spread over a much-debated passage of a House bill designed to cover consultations between patients and doctors over end-of-life issues.
Opponents point out the passage was proposed by Rep. Earl Blumenauer, described by the Family Research Council as "a Democratic congressman from Oregon who has been a major proponent of the state's assisted-suicide law."
The Family Research Council's website includes testimonials from Oregon residents who say they have been denied cancer treatment but offered counseling for assisted suicide."

None of us really understands all the ramifications of the health care plan--it's eleven hundred some pages long and nobody has had time for even a cursory reading--much less detailed analysis of what it will look like if it is (God forbid) rolled out over the entire country.
When our local school district changed from a 7-hour school day to the block schedule, the block plan was introduced in one school first. When it proved successful there, it was introduced to another school with somewhat different demographics. After several years of trial, it became a district-wide schedule.
Have you heard any plans to do a trial run on this health-care behemoth?
Will our elected officials submit themselves and their family to the same health care plan they are forcing upon us?
Our elected leaders are so intent upon giving us their "facts" when we'd like the truth, please!
And if you want to see demonstrations that are violent and out-of-control, check on some (rare in the MSM) footage of REAL organized and orchestrated mob actions by leftists--including posters calling for the assassination of then-President Bush.

Specter breaks out the comedy act and declares that the people showing up at townhalls are "not necessarily representative of America" - where does he think they are from if not middle America?!?! Are the people in DC so insulated and isolated that they cannot see that the people do not trust them and do not want their version of healthcare (for us) crammed down our throats?
I still think the fastest way to make this all go away is to require that all House and Senate members be COVERED by any law they pass for us!!!

Almost every time the Constitution was not strictly followed (as in the oath of office they all took ), history has shown the wisdom of the founders to be far superior to the so-called "enlightened" (as in Luciferian) globalist CFR / Tri-lateral Commission folks who, much like parasites, have infiltrated into all levels of our government.

Read the Declaration of Independence.
In light of Congress daily voting for legislation not specifically authorized by the Constitution,
executive orders, originally intended for administrative acts, such as purchasing supplies, etc. are now used as a mini-legislature at the beckon call of the President.
It now appears that all of our communications with our elected representatives have been blatantly ignored as evidenced by the banker bailouts. Where is our redress of grievance? Elections are controlled through (not by) the media and the two winged single Dema-Publican party.
We're at 1984 and getting vocal in whichever way we can in the hope that the answer will not have to be 1776.
Hitler kept it orderly, not many lived to complain. Any opposition was promptly put down. He even used religion to bolster his position. I once heard his favorite verse was Romans 13.
Well, our Constitution is the authority, the rule of law, the chain that binds a would-be tyrannical government.
Unfortunately they may be choosing to de-legitimize their authority by their constant violation of the very document that each has taken a sacred oath to uphold.
I have yet to use such "in your face" tactics at a public venue, but is the alternative to be run over roughshod?
Surely freedom is fading in the distance... I wonder if liberty is easier kept than having to be later retaken?

We call on the government to immediately divest itself of GM, AIG, and all private corporations, and to provide an exert accounting of all TARP funds spent to date. We demand the repeal of H.R. 1106, which forces American families to pay the mortgage for those who received loans they did not qualify for.
We petition Congress to repeal the Omnibus Appropriations Act of 2009 (H.R. 1105), and that the budget bill under consideration be killed -which has a net tax hike of $1.35 trillion.

We reject the deceptively named Employee Free Choice Act which takes from the American worker the right to privately ballot whether to organize labor, or not, and makes them subject to union intimidation and bullying. (H.R. 800)
We reject the so-called “Ed Kennedy Serve America Act” which forces our youth into involuntary servitude and subjects them to years of indoctrination. This is a violation of the 13th Amendment to our constitution which abolished slavery and involuntary servitude except when duly convicted of a crime. (H.R. 1388)
We reject all encroachment upon our 2nd Amendment right to keep and bear arms. An armed populace is the greatest preservative of the Republic against tyrants. We reject all attempts to limit access to ammunition. We reject the reinstatement of the Failed 1994 Gun and Magazine ban.

It is an honor to have you post alongside us on the Huck*Pac blog! Thank-you for taking the time to read our comments. The fact that you sincerely listen to the American people is what sets you apart from the majority of political leaders.
I am not "afraid of dissent", but I am afraid of Health Care Reform being forced upon our country. What is "Un-American" is the attempt to intimidate those who disagree with them. This is in violation of our First Amendment Rights. Were anti-war protestors and pro-abortion protestors labeled "Un-American" by the establishment?
It is crucial that Americans have "truthful" and "thorough" answers to their Health Care Reform questions. Your Huckabee Health Care Special was excellent. I would like see a series of these Health Care Specials, in order to have more detailed answers and information.

President Obama has abused his authority as the President of the United States. Our founders did not establish our system of representation in order to have our leaders craft bills and ram them through without reading or debating the issues, especially when it is something as encompassing as healthcare or trillion dollar bailouts, and especially when they have questionable issues such as the government gaining access to our bank accounts, “end of life therapy”, denial of services to special needs people, etc. When our leaders do things like this they are representing themselves and not the people. This is nothing less than an abuse of power. The President lied about the reason for passing the bill. It is evident to anyone with even half of a brain that the reason the bill was rushed without being read is because the President new that the people would revolt if they found out what was in it. So I will ask you again: is this representation? This President has lied to the American people, used the position of President to influence congress to pass a 1000+ page bill through without reading it, slandered and threatened the American people, and is now connected to a group which has attacked civilians seeking to exercise their 1st amendment rights. The questionable nature of the bill, along with the reckless spending is out of favor with the majority of Americans, and the threat that these actions pose to our country, along with the treatment of the American people by an administration that has overstepped its bounds are large enough offenses that may indeed warrant impeachment. Serious questions need to be launched about SEIU’s involvement in writing this bill, their weekly meetings with the President, and their use of force on American citizen. We cannot continue along this path. I believe we need a nationally concerted effort to launch a petition to impeach the President for the offenses listed above. We also need to make recall efforts at the local levels for those who refuse to represent the people. (Especially if they refuse to honor the people’s wishes, whether it be healthcare or impeachment.) The other alternative is to vote them out of office next year, and elect enough Republicans to the Congress and Senate to give us a large enough majority to impeach. We will need two thirds in the Senate to impeach. Thirty six seats are available in the Senate, I doubt if this a significant enough number to pull this off through Republican vote. The only alternative is to make a truly bi-partisan move and remove President Obama from office.

Their comments are very insulting. During the Bush years it was "patriotic" to dissent and now it's unAmerican. Do they think that we suffer from short term memory loss? Good Americans are concerned about government take-over and its inefficiency to run a business. They pass bills without reading them. They pass bills with pork barrel spending. They pass bills that we can't afford. Americans are starting to understand what's going on with Congress. They don't want to be public servant or represent. They want to be the parent who pats the child on the head and wants them to be obedient. Also, I have seen the way that they "debate" with one another. Our "representatives" have deplorable behavior. Barney Frank with the head of AIG; Barney Frank with Senate envy comments; Boxer with the General; Pelosi with everyone.
There are a couple of things that I want to see:
- no gov options;
- reform yet free market;
- no paid abortion;
- no physican assisted suicide;
- no more debt -

Whose to say that the ones doing stupid things are not plants, you know, the bubba version of an agent provocateur? Or maybe they could be making a point about "what kind of government" ignores the citizens, relegating them to more of a position of "subject".
Government taking over business would be socialism, you know, like owning the "means of production".
Clearly there is some of this going on here. And don't forget...
The "Central Banks" aka UN-Federal Reserve dictating to our government when and how much bail-outs they require to satisfy the "impossible to satisfy" derivatives bubble....
Now that smacks of fascism....
Swastikas in terms of antisemitism are rightfully repulsive, but in terms of bringing attention to the Corporate Central Bankers calling the shots, in essence running the government.... For obvious reasons, I would just stay clear of such symbols, but it's interesting to contemplate the path we may be about to embark on... -

I am honestly confused by this whole health care debate. I do not understand the issue and doubt seriously I will find any frank discussion about what is or is not in the bill. Of course what would make it easier is if there were only one bill and not five. How can we know what is in or out when we do not even know which one will be voted on?

I was able to watch President Obama's town hall meeting today. It was almost disgusting how he danced around the important issues. One of the reasons I support you and am committed to Huckpac is that our message is clear and consistent. I appreciate a leader where there is no curtain to have to hide behind because in each speech the message is different. I like to know that the values you live by are the ones you support. I have heard several town hall speakers answering questions today say this healthcare bill does not mention Abortion therefore eluding to the fact that abortion won't be covered, but the fact that it is not specifically mentions opens the door to allowing this procedure as any other surgical procedure...They also said that the bill would not cover illegal aliens, but the liberals will push for amnesty to make all illegals legal therefore they can be covered....this is the kind of double talking coniving answers the politicians make knowing full well what they are doing. The people just do not trust politicians ....

How can we trust a system of administrators who talked citizens into having taxes deducted automatically from their hard earned labor (Payroll Tax), while promising them a government run old age pension fund (Social Security), with only 2% of their income. This was under Franklin Roosevelt and the new Payroll Tax paid for his New Deal and World War. A few years later under LB Johnson, the Social Security Fund was suddenly transferred to the General Fund and has now increased to 7.5% and 15% if you're self employed (small business owners). Now these same bright administrators in a new generation, tell us that they've spent all our government run Retirement Fund, Social Security money, but they know how to handle our Health Care if we will only trust them and sign all our rights over to them, including our banking and estate information. Isn't this letting the fox into the hen house?

Regarding Barack Obama's understanding of the health care issue, he is as much at the mercy of his advisors and statistical experts as Ronald Reagan was when he was arguing that we could reduce the national debt by cutting taxes. Obama is an intelligent man with a good ability to analyze complex issues, but to a large extent it is a numbers game, with projections for future spending depending on the assumptions that are made. And those assumptions often depend on the wishful thinking of the people making them. That is why Mike Huckabee is undoubtedly right when he argues that health care reform is going to be bigger and cost more than the Democrats believe, if the reform is left to them. Even small distortions based on faulty assumptions multiplied many times over can lead to huge problems for the country.

I completely disagree with the way Congress is handling healthcare reform. I do not trust the federal government to put forward a reasonable plan that will not only take good care of me physically, but will also be fiscally responsible. A prime example of that is the way the federal government has run Medicare/Medicaid. Instead of re-inventing the healthcare wheel the government ought to be looking at how to fix the current money drains: Medicaid & Medicare. What should be done is for Congress to completely revamp both of them, merge them into ONE healthcare system with ONE budget, and, to help offset the government cost, open eligibility to everyone that is a US citizen with the premiums based not only on family size, but on family income.
The system is already in place, it just needs to be updated and eligibility opened to any citizen of the US. That is the way to make healthcare accessible to all without ‘Big Brother’ having complete control and without an enormous added tax on the people.And I'm not too keen on the idea of someone telling me when and how I can take care of my own health. Keep up the good work Gov Huckabee!

But I have always felt that you were one of us anyway unlike most of those other politicians in Washington.
Thank-you for your continued truthfulness, forthrightness and loyalty to the concerns and needs of all Americans.I have been listening to the Arlen Specter and Pres Obama town-hall meetings. I found the Specter meeting to be more interesting and enlightening.
My question is: What will be the attorney's interpretation of all the pages on the health care bill? That is what counts and not what the president thinks or understands it to be. Do you think that the president really understands it all himself and/or is he hiding something?
He tries to paint it all with a pretty rosy picture. Many unanswered questions here and there did not seem to be very many in the audience asking questions with opposing views of this bill. (this is with the pres. town-hall mtg)I am sure you will give us your thoughts on these town-hall meetings today. It is needed!
