Team Huck In Minnesota

We're starting to see some interesting developments for Team Huck here in MN. People who say they are not interested in politics at all are responding positively to the idea of a national grassroots movement to bring their interests to the political arena. Our Facebook group is sharing information about issues, although it is more on a friend to friend level than on the group. (I expect this to change soon.) Our focus has been on identifying and recruiting people to serve as state coordinators and it looks like we will soon have 4 new ones. This will be a great benefit as we recruit people in our local communities and build our base.

We made a great contact with Michelle Bachman's team and expect to continue to have conversations with them as we move forward. We've also been interacting with members of Congress, sending letters of both concern and congratulations when appropriate. Video from Mike Huckabee is posted on my web site and we continue to share the message. (Several blog readers have re-posted the videos, helping to spread the word even though they are not active in Team Huck.)

    I heard Michelle Bachman on a radio show the other day supporting a flat tax. It sure would be great to get someone like her supporting the FairTax. Which would do even more to help our country in these difficult times.

    I think we would all be wise to take our cue from Mike Huckabee. While he is not afraid to state his opinions and stand firm on his beliefs, he is gracious to others and seeks to maintain a civil dialogue.

    Part of what is so wrong about the way our government is operating is that they talk about bipartisanship, but don't know the meaning of the word. We need to state our case, voice our objections and stand firm on our convictions without letting the discussion denigrate into name calling or making accusations.

    The way the current administration is operating may, indeed be unconstitutional. The problem is that the lines have become so blurred. Instead of doing their job, Congress has been asleep at the wheel and allowed the other branches of government to legislate through judicial opinions and executive orders. When Congress starts doing their job, government as a whole will run a lot smoother. We have an opportunity to elect members who will take the job seriously and vote out those who think they have been given a lifetime membership. That's where our efforts should go, but that's just my opinion.

    PARTY TIME IN D.C.? Well, it's Tea Party Time in the HeartLand!

    With all due respect, Mr. Cline, as a legal secretary who debates attorneys and judges in a Toastmasters International Club, I simply must take issue with your request that we shut down freedom of speech for the sake of moderates or lukewarm Republicans or Independents.

    If you're going to call conservative Christians extremists, and say that Vertical Politics requires that we tone down our rhetoric, then why on earth are Tea Parties erupting all across the country?

    I would suggest that is because neither this Administration nor Congress is listening to taxpayers. I think our Founding Fathers would have already impeached and ousted a president who spent more money in 30 days than we've spent in the past 100 years.

    As far as drinking parties in the White House are concerned, I heard that on FOX News and forgot to document it, but here's a link:

    Apparently because of Pres. Bush's religious beliefs, our dear Pres. Bush did not serve drinks at the White House.

    Pres. Obama has re-started the Wed. Night Happy Hour in his White House.

    With regard to the Declaration of Independence, I believe that our Founding Fathers held it in even more high regard than the Constitution because it set the foundation for our new country's Charter Documents.

    Our Founders were especially aware that we as a nation have always given deference to the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God.

    I've heard Gov. Huckabee quote, "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness."

    I've never heard of Tea Parties with any other president before, and I believe the Impeachable Offense was brought to light when another presidential candidate, Ambassador Alan Keyes, filed a law suit requesting the $10 long form vault birth certificate which our president has spent millions of dollars trying to hide from the U.S. Supreme Court.

    Another very brave female lawyer is Dr. Orly Taitz, who delivered boxes and boxes of documents to Chief Justice John Roberts in Iowa a couple days ago.

    BGW, you are in this video! I was standing right there a few feet away from the Channel 12 camera.

    The whole protest was peaceful until one woman carrying a picture of Obama kept walking by chanting O.B.A.M.A.

    One young gentleman followed her carrying a sign that said "Crazy Lady" and one single (apparently homeless) man was upset and shouting.

    The people who followed the Channel News Camera across the road were saying, "LIBERAL MEDIA." They told us they did that so that Channel 12 wouldn't be able to interview the one lone protester and make a big deal about one person when 5-6,000 came out in support of the Cincinnati Fountain Square Tea Party.

    Overall, it was a very cheerful, happy, peaceful event, and we are excited and looking forward to the next Tea Party on April 15. We're making history!

    In response to a previous post. Although removing the conscience protections is wrong and continues to show Obama's disregard for life, I would respectfully ask all of us to not post in such a way that gives ammunition to those who wish to call us extremists. If we ever want to WIN ELECTIONS, we must appeal to the middle and others who share many of our values, just not in the same order of priority. I am not saying change our values, but be very conscious of unnecessary inflammatory rhetoric, especially in statements that are inaccurate.

    During the campaign, those of us who blogged regularly may recall that these kinds of posts were often quickly challenged to keep the tone of the site positive and one that would draw in those who were checking Mike out.

    For one, talking about Obama having drinking parties - as much as I dislike the man, that is disrespectful of the president and I suspect has no basis in truth. Let's not spread gossip that demeans his personal character. I cannot see Gov. Huckabee speaking in the same manner. As we represent him on here, let's remember the guiding principle of Vertical Politics. Only if we conduct ourselves in such a manner will we win over those who are open, but not sure about Gov. Huckabee.

    On another point, nothing is unCONSTITUTIONAL because it goes against the Declaration of Independence - only if it goes against the Constitution, which this certainly violates the First Amendment. And whether the "pope will put up with this" is irrelevant. He does not have authority over our elected officials.

    And please, let's not throw around "impeachable offense" - people on both sides have been crying this since the Clinton escapade. It should not be used everytime we disagree with a policy, even a grievous one. I don't see any "high crime" that has been committed. I am as pro-life as any body and quite conservative, but I also believe we need to be more pragmatic in how we work in Mike's behalf. As much as we dislike this, the president has a right to make such decisions - even unconstitutional ones - that is why we have a system of checks and balances and hopefully that will restore the conscience protections.

    Hi MN, I lived in Lakeville for 2 years from 1988 thru 1990, and really loved it. We built a 3 story condo on the golfcourse at Brackett's Crossing. I worked in Mike's first winning campaign, for Lt. Gov. That was when Bill Clinton left the gov's office for the White House, then the Lt.Gov moved up leaving that office opened. We had a Dem. Gov. and a Repub. Lt Gov!

    Deborah, removing the conscience rule was not part of the new budget, but was done on the same day the budget was announced, Call me cynical, but this is something we have seen before ... Obama quietly taking action and using the furor over another news event to eclipse news of that action ... in this case using the uproar over the budget to hide what was done with the conscience rule.

    That sun you experienced yesterday must really have you pumped up. lol I almost made a comment on your status to tell you that you needed to blog on HuckPac since you were "pumped" up, I didn't really know you were going to.

    I am really excited for you as your work in Minnesota appears to be very promising! I feel sure you will have many more positive reports to make in the future!

    Did Obama really remove the medical "Conscience Rule" by stealth in the new budget? If so, that will be unconstitutional because it goes against the Declaration of Independence, but then so didRoe v. Wade.

    President Obama and Speaker Pelosi are truly insane. Do they really think the Pope will put up with this? This President has drinking parties every Wed. night in the White House (just like they must have had at Davis, Miner, Barnhill & Galland – where else did Obama get the idea?), and then expects to force Catholic and Christian doctors to perform abortions?

    You have really got to be kidding! This is truly an impeachable offense. You can’t expect all hospitals receiving federal funds to force abortion, no matter what promise you made to Planned Parenthood! This is absolutely I.N.S.A.N.E. and I.N.H.U.M.A.N.E.!

    On the other hand, weren’t those Restaurant Parties that Glenn Beck started yesterday for WE SURROUND THEM awesome! He showed groups in Columbus, Ohio, and New York, Iraq, and even a group in Texas with Chuck & Gina Norris. Glenn Beck just started another grass roots group like Rick Santelli’s Tea Parties!. The PEOPLE are RISING UP! Power to the People!

    Even Sean Hannity and Gov. Huckabee were talking about how being a governor gives you actual governing experience, and Hannity said something like, “It will be like that when you’re President someday” to Gov. Huckabee! Wow! I think Hannity may finally be seeing the light! Keep praying, folks. We’re really gonna need it.

    Christian and Catholic doctor’s aren’t going to lay down and perform abortions, and they won’t hold Tea Parties, they’ll just refuse to perform them, so we’ve got a SHOWDOWN coming in just 30 days! (Apparently doctors have 30 days to protest and Cal Thomas already has).
