Re: Dr D
Thanks Dr. David for bringing an encouraging perspective to the bigger picture for us. I see what you mean.
In some strange way, the many folks who would vote for Mike to give him needed victories in surprise states just cannot this time around because they will feel a need to give President Obama a second chance to fix what he has to fix and then it will be time to close up shop and prepare the House for the next president.

Los Angeles, Mike 05/14/2011 12:27 PM. If the election were about ideas and decided on merit, I think Mike would have run. But Barack Obama is supported by a very powerful political machine with a huge fund raising capacity. Unfortunately, variables like name recognition play a role, and it would have been very tough to win enough of the big electoral states such as California, New York, and Illinois. That will be much easier in 2016 when there is no incumbency to overcome.
H, Mrs. 05/13/2011 11:58 PM. I suspected that if Mike Huckabee was NOT running, he would want to tell regular folks like you and me first, and what better place to do that than on his TV show. Conversely, if he WAS running, it would be awkward to announce that on FOX News, because they support him as an entertainer, but not as a candidate.
All: I have always felt that the Obama administration monitors Mike's public statements closely, and has a lot of respect for him. I believe his influence will still be significant, and by 2016, the nomination will be his for the asking. In the meantime, do not lose heart: the Lord works in mysterious ways his wonders to perform.

As disappointed as I am - almost in tears, I know I would be more disappointed if you ran without GOD's blessing.
I've loved your GODLY witness - I pray that you & yours will continually be blessed!
I am moving to another state - MO. This I believe is what GOD wants for us and I am terribly excited.
Our new home "sign" = <*)-NOA-><In Hebrew - Noe means comfort; wanderer. We hope to be a place of refuge for our families and those GOD sends our way. We believe that they may need a place to go - given the state of our country.
I can't wait to meet you one day - what a blessing you've been to our nation!!
GOD Speed......<*)-K-><

Well, I didn't want to say this, because I thought you'd make the right decision...
The reason I believe you were given the TV show was because FOX felt responsible for your defeat in the last republican presidential primary...
Now that you've declined the republican nomination, are your saying you're running as an independent? If not, I really believe your TV ratings will falter...
Mike, I hate to say it, but you've become our next Ross Perot....

Mike, I want you to know that I support you in whatever decision God has led you to make. I hope and pray that He has led you to decide to run for president in 2012, but if He has not, I know you made that decision with much prayer and thought.
God bless you, sir.

Re: 2012 vs 2016
Dr. David 05/13/2011 08:01 PM
I would love to see Mike run and win in 2012, as well. Certainly it will be a challenge to defeat an incumbent President Obama, but I believe Mike must know four things that will cause him to "dive into the campaign pool" at this time in history, and not wait until 2016.
First, Mike has assurance that he will not be diving into an empty pool. Second, he has confidence and support on how to deal with the occasional alligators that stray into friendly backyard pools along the campaign trail. Third, he has a sense that President Obama is literally burning out on the job right now because he just did not have the long-term governing or business experience stamina necessary to appropriately fix the national problems without insulting major constituency groups and allies along the way. And finally, Mike has a belief that the President would not mind being relieved of duty by Mike Huckabee, an Abe Lincoln-Ronald Reagan person who President Obama could live with as president.

On a light note, having seen the governor's wonderful sense of humor over the years, I would not put it past him to announce that his big announcement is a road tour with the Little Rockers!
On a serious note, until today, I have said nothing about the "will he or won't he" question. Quite simply, I have seen enough candidates and campaigns to know, Governor, that this is an ultimately personal decision between you, your family, and your Lord. In the private sector, you have the house in FL; more money than you've seen in your lifetime; and a grandchild on the way. To paraphrase Churchill, we can only offer you blood, sweat, and tears. Nevertheless, not for a party or an ideology's sake but for our nation's sake, please do it. Every winning Super Bowl team I have ever seen was led by a coach, not a color commentator. Please join us in the arena. Our nation needs your unique giftedness for such a time as this ((and make Haley Barbour your campaign manager; you'll need the money and someone on your side to reassure the establishment Republicans. )

Gov I am one of your most sincere supporters, and believe me you have many of us. I dont post often, but I contribute across the web, contribute to your causes, to your pac, I volunteered in 2008 for your campaing.
I hope you know, You are the only one who can beat Obama. No doubt about it. The decision is yours alone to make and everyone will understand no matter what you decide. But I just hope we dont find our selves with four more years of BO. The country may not survive it.
I dont know how much of a show you will have left if you are not running.. I know I would will not be able to tune in to your show and watch anymore. Not because im mad, just becuase it would be to painful to know the presidency was yours for the taking.
You have us all on the edge of our seat.

Didn't anybody watch Gov. Huckabee on Cavuto this afternoon? Only the Huckabee family knows the Governor's answer as to whether or not he's running. Anybody else is just guessing. The media pundits don't know anything; they just like to hear themselves talk. We'll find out tomorrow night what the answer is, and until then, nobody on the outside knows anything. Do not trust your TV Guide, because even Fox doesn't know whether or not Gov. Huckabee will be back next week or resign this weekend to run for President.

Huckabee is running.
To announce that you will *not* run, you call a press conference.
To announce you *will* run, you pick your best media outlet. If you happen to have your own media outlet, where better?
What we have seen over the past few months, and particularly today, is a masterful piece of political performance. By keeping everyone guessing about whether or not he is running -- signalling via Ed Rollins that he won't run, yet hyping his mysterious announcement tomorrow -- Governor Huckabee has crafted a political puzzle so tantalizing that it has created maximum media attention.
For proof, just take a look at Drudge? Top headline, complete with picture. HUCKARIDDLE: Will he or won't he?
Genius. Huck 2012!

I'm not sure if I am going to get any sleep tonight as I wait in anticipation of Mike's "Big Announcment" Saturday.
Sure, Mr. Rollins says Mike will not run. But I think he is wrong.
I think that Mike IS going to run.

I hope you do run, we are all ready to help. If you don't, I fear four more years of President Obama. He will have nothing to lose in his second term and WILL do untold damage to the country.

I sure hope that the first thing you do is fire that self-important, pompous, windbag - Ed Rollins - what an ego!! He thinks that because you haven't consulted him that you are not running. I will be beyond disappointed if he turns out to be right but since I know you must be running I will certainly help raise funds - power to the people, just like last time!!

Radio reports today are that Mike Huckabee will have a major announcement tomorrow. Internet rumors are that he has decided not to run in 2012. If true, this will disappoint, but not surprise me.
The recent killing of Osama Bin Laden has strengthened President Obama's hand, and there is talk of a Congressional plan to bring the budget deficit under control. If this were to happen, it would strengthen Obama's hand even more.
I would love to see Mike run and win in 2012, but would rather see him win in 2016 than lose in 2012. It is not certain that he could beat the incumbent with his big war chest in 2012, though his chances would be much better than those of any other Republican.
But Mike is only in his mid 50s, and still has a bright national future. For the next several years, he can affect events via his radio, TV and internet platform. By the 2016 election, things should be in place for Mike to run and win by a landslide.

Totally bummed out! It seems like the title "President Huckabee" will not be something to look forward to in 2012...
Well, that's according to Ed Rollins, who is all over the web saying that Mike will announce "not" running! What's going on here Mike? Is Ed, letting the cat out of the bag or are you going to step up and prove him wrong?
Please Mike, don't do it! Think about the U.S. people that need you, think about how you could turn this place around! I hope your announcement isn't what they say it will be...
