Obama's approval rating in the state is 49% with 45% of voters disapproving of him. The Democratic base stands pretty universally behind him at 89% approval and independents break slightly in favor of him by a 49/43 spread. Holding him below 50% is that he has virtually no support from Republicans, only 10% of whom approve of his job performance.
Obama's approval spread may only be +4 but his leads over all of his prospective Republican opponents exceed that. He's up 7 points on Mike Huckabee at 48-41, 9 points on Paul Ryan at 49-40, 10 on Mitt Romney at 48-38, 12 on Newt Gingrich at 51-39, and 19 on Sarah Palin at 54-35.

Speaking of Wisconsin, I'd be very interested to see what Gov. Huckabee's view is on banning collective bargaining rights.
I am a staunch conservative and am not fond of the unions, but, gosh darn it, the labor unions are the only thing standing between us and extreme capitalist corporate greed.
I agree that the unions are too much in bed with the Democrat Party, but middle America cannot afford to give away the rights of workers.
Not so very long ago, our immigrant forefathers fought very hard for decent wages and fair working conditions. Unrestrained big business is just as much an enemy of the middle class as big government.
If we don't all want to become Wal-mart employees with no rights and low wages, we've got to take the neo-con blinders off and stand up for the legitimate claims of labor unions and all the hard-won gains that were made for the American worker.
