The federal government, this Congress and this President have talked tough about securing our borders but the truth is they have failed to keep their promises. And now they want to pass a “comprehensive plan” – whatever that means – and they want to do it before the November elections.
Another colossal promise . . . Another colossal failure.
We need to apply pressure NOW on the Congress, Republicans and Democrats. We have to make them understand the American people want a TRULY secure border – not more empty talk and broken promises.
I know you agree and now I am asking you to do something about it.
First, sign this simple petition in support of secure borders. Help us reach 50,000 signatures before the end of the month. My name is at the top of the list, and I hope you will add your name next to mine.
The text of the petition is here:
Mr. President, Speaker Pelosi and Majority Leader Reid, I ask that you immediately fulfill past promises made by the federal government. Enforce the existing laws on the books. Secure our borders now.
If you do not take immediate steps to secure our border and implement and enforce existing laws, I will vote for and support politicians who can get the job done.
Second, please tell your friends and family about the petition.
Signing this petition and telling your friends to visit www.huckpac.com to sign the petition also is a quick way that you can make a difference on this issue today.
Help me show the politicians in Washington there are tens of thousands of voters who care deeply about this issue.
Be warned! Just like the healthcare bill – it’s probable that Congress and the Administration have been trying to lay the groundwork in secret meetings to push through an immigration bill quickly. So we MUST organize quickly to make a difference come November.
Remember this is an issue where politicians have flat-out failed to keep their promises. This time, we need to hold them accountable.
Sign this important petition today. Each day we waste just talking about the problem of illegal immigration it gets worse.

While I'm all for securing our borders, I don't believe a fence is the correct solution. A fence can just as easily keep people in as much as it keeps people out and I don't have the confidence that our Government won't turn on us. Germany had a great wall, and I'm pretty sure it wasn't to keep the people of west Germany from invading east Germany. It was used to keep the eastern folks under wraps and prevent them from leaving.
We don't have to lock people out, we just need to make it tough for those that are here illegally. We need to quit providing them a safe nest in our borders.
Think about this logically. If I have somebody illegally trespassing in my house, eating out of my fridge and raiding my medicine cabinet, my first reaction isn't to build a tall fence around my house. I do that to keep rabbits out of my garden. My first reaction is to get them out of my house and protect my assets either through legal confrontation or force. If the pain of the crime is worse than the pleasure of committing the crime, the crime won't be committed. Plain and simple.

Thanks for the opportunity to sign this petition. Too often the liberal left wants to state that everyone has the right to be in the U.S. The U.S. is a melting pot of many ethnic backgrounds, fortunately, most if not all, came to U.S. legally. These legal immigrants are welcome to the U.S. The immigrants from Mexico and central America or any other location whose chose to come to the U.S. illegally, need not be pampered, but put in jail while they wait to be deported. This is what every other country would do with someone who illegally enters their territory.

Obama, Pelosi, and Reid DO NOT LISTEN TO US - "WE THE PEOPLE"; THEY DESERVE TO BE IMPEACHED, BUT IF VOTING THEM OUT IS THE QUICKEST WAY TO GET RID OF THEM BY "WE THE SANE, INTELLIGENT PEOPLE", THEN THAT IS WHAT WE MUST DO!
If they pass ANY kind of immigration reform, or AMNESTY, without listening to us, hopefully millions of Americans will rise up in demonstrations and picket lines, converge upon Washington DC, and very LOUDLY make them hear us! (Note: I am most certainly NOT advocating any violence - only suggesting the MLK ways of forcing them to listen to us!)

If you haven't lived in a town near the border you have no business making a comment on the border immigration problem. I was raise in Corpus Christi, Texas. It was a safe city where teenagers could go anywhere night or day. Now many houses have bars on doors and windows, teens cannot go out at night unless in large groups and the crime rate has quadrupled or more since 1960. The population has gone from 6% blacks, about 25% mexican/american and 69% white american to today still 6% black, 70% mexican/american and 29% white american. It's a shame that this beautiful city has been ruined. It's not the town I was brought up in. The common thread is the increase in mexican/american (if they are legal - doubt it)

I haven't read all the comments, but the fence, though it is a good idea, has too many holes. Most of the TV videos I have seen show people either climbing or going over fence with a ladder or rope with grapple hook. We are spending a lot of money on a fence design that doesn't work.

I firmly agree that no reform of Immigration can take place unless all of the boarders are protected. We need to spend more time on see who is entering our country and focus on how America can be safe again. I am not saying don't let people in, I am saying only let them in legally

I absolutely agree soomething needs to be done immediately about the illegal immigrants flooding this country. I think a fence is only part of the solution. There are other issues which will need to be addressed as well. I actually think we are really dealing with a welfare issue. We need to cut off welfare for any/all able bodied people regardless of how many children they have. By doing so there would be much fewer jobs for the illegals to come here for. Next we need stiff enough fines for employers who hire illegals to make unattractive to do so.Next we need to verify everyones legal status everytime the opportunity arises and take immediate action to deport anyone who is not here legally. Even if they are here legally and do not have the means to support themselves they need to be sent home.If they are here illegally and give birth I don't believe the child should be entitle to citizenship. Our government officials try and make everything so complicated when really isn't.

I was canvassed by phone tonight on the immigration isssue. Although I did answer 'yes' to the question about the need for for the federal gov to take immediate action - I DO NOT AGREE WITH A FENCE AS THE SOLUTION.
At no time was I given the option to express my opinion as to another solution.
As a consequence, there is an inherent bias in this poll and it is invalid.
No doubt my answer will be listed as 'in favor' of the huckpac solution - I AM NOT IN FAVOR OF A FENCE.
Any damned fool can (and do) dig tunnels under it for miles. -

If they just didn't give them any jobs, grants or benefits, they would go away themselves. The companies that hire them should be fined with a high enough fine that just being caught with one employee would put them out of business. Then the fine should go to the police dept in the City or State in which the law was broken and the reduction in cost of the police force should be given back to the people in the community in which the law was broken. They should also offer money for citizens to report the illegal immigrants. Why when illegal immigrants go to an emergency room to be treated, are they not deported? Once a few got deported, they wouldn't be coming to the hospitals. One of our shippers sent our shipping clerk a whole list of grants offered to them that we as citizens aren't even eligible for. They give them houses and everything. They shouldn't get anything. Our Government does this just so they can get votes. You shouldn't become a citizen by breaking the law and if she is a mother and happens to have a baby while she is here it becomes a citizen. Our government schools them to take away our religion, rights and constitution. Our government has unions take over our schools and re-writes our history books to suit their agenda. Why in the world is our government unionized? They give themselves their own raises. I have never had any of them ask me for a raise. We have minimum labor, safety and wage laws and if these were enforced there would never be a need for a union. Our government should not be allowed to give government employees any more than the average wage for anyone doing the same job. After all it is the lower paid person that has to fork over the money to the government employee for doing the same job that they do for a living. They say we need these immigrants here for jobs. That makes a lot of sense when the unemployment rate is a high as it is. The people on unemployment should have to work to get their unemployment. President Obama makes out like he is so generous by extending the unemployment, but it is the States that are paying the bill and it is all being put on the companies. One more reason not to hire anyone. Our rate is now up to 9.2%. Our good Lord said those who don’t work should not eat.

The only thing I would say to the Dem. crowd is, "Step out of the way please!" They are not going to do anything about immigration, are you kidding me? I won't waste my time signing anything. I'll shout from my rooftop that the Dems are creating a huge race and cultural divide though. Let's not play thier games or, God help us, "give into" thier games. Let us be strong and couragous, and DEFEAT the Bad Ones! Peter

The President of the United States first priority is to provide security and safety for its citizens, period!!! Since security begins at our borders, it is absolutely unimaginable and unconscionable that no president or political party in recent years have made it a priority to secure our border with Mexico. Today, responding to the recently passed Arizona controversial immigration reform bill, President Obama criticized it, and stressed the need for a Federal Immigration Reform bill. Mr. President, due to the ongoing illegal flow of Mexicans, drugs and weapons through our extremely porous border with Mexico, wouldn’t it be wise and prudent to first secure that entire south border? Aside from the current security, economic and law enforcement problems caused by illegal Mexican immigrants, one major goal of foreign terrorist organizations is to sneak suicide bombers into this country. Sooner or later they will succeed if the border remains unsecured. A successful suicide bomber attack at just one major shopping mall would paralyze our economy and create unimaginable fear of assembly and public transportation. If the terrorist who recently attempted to explode a vehicle in Times Square had been the suicide type, he would have probably succeeded. To fix the border security problem: [Establish a buffer-zone extending one fourth mile inward from the actual border. Along the inward line of the buffer zone, construct a barrier consisting of concrete, steel, wire, or a combination thereof. Along the actual border (outer-edge of the buffer-zone), install a wire fence topped with razor wire, and complimented with concertina wire placed on both sides of the fence. Install signs warning personnel not to breach the fence and enter the buffer zone, except at authorized marked entrances. Install the best high-tech surveillance system available that would allow the entire buffer zone to be monitored 24/7 by security personnel staffed at monitoring stations constructed at appropriate intervals along the border barrier. . Each station would also be staffed with personnel to conduct vehicular and helicopter patrols along its assigned sector of responsibility, and to respond to breaches of the buffer-zone observed and reported by personnel operating surveillance equipment. Air and ground patrols would be equipped with loud-speakers and tear gas dispensing capability to clear violators from the buffer zone as needed]. This is plain common sense action that should have been implemented many years ago. This would be a win-win solution for this nation, i.e., several thousand citizens would be hired to construct the barrier, and conduct border security operations that would ultimately optimize our security and safety.
