Little Rock - Governor Mike Huckabee announced today that Hogan Gidley, former executive director of the South Carolina Republican Party and communications director for former U.S. Senator Elizabeth Dole's re-election campaign will take over as executive director of HuckPAC, his political action committee.

Sarah Huckabee, who served as executive director of HuckPAC from April 2008 until now, will be leaving her role at HuckPAC to serve as campaign manager for Congressman John Boozman’s U.S. Senate campaign against Sen. Blanche Lincoln.

Hogan Gidley will be moving from Columbia, SC to Little Rock, AR in the next week as the transition is underway. He served as communications director for Sen. Elizabeth Dole's re-election campaign in 2008. From 2006-2007, during the lead up to the 2008 South Carolina Republican Presidential primary, Gidley was executive director of the South Carolina Republican party.

Prior to leading the South Carolina Republican Party, Hogan Gidley worked for Richard Quinn and Associates, where he served as campaign adviser and spokesperson to South Carolina Governor David Beasley. From 2000-2004, Gidley performed a variety of roles for Governor Mike Huckabee, including director of media operations.

"Hogan Gidley brings a wealth of experience to HuckPAC and will be a great asset to our team, having worked in a variety of leadership positions in several key states," Governor Mike Huckabee said. "I look forward to working with Hogan again and he and I are committed to ramping up Huck PAC’s efforts to elect conservative candidates nationwide."

Congratulations to both Hogan and Sarah. Both vital jobs, for sure.

Just wanted you to know that in a new Rassmussen poll out this week, Chuck DeVore is in a statistical deadheat with Carly Fiorina to contest Barbara Boxer's seat in CA. They are both just 5 points behind Boxer.

Devore is the true people's champion and we are all working so very hard to get him elected as the Republican nominee, and then to beat Boxer.

Anyone who can help us, feel free to jump in!

My congratulations to and prayers for both Hogan and Sarah on their new roles.

Sarah, we have appreciated your tireless efforts to help with Gov. Huckabee's candidacy and with HuckPAC. Now you can use what you have learned to help with other campaigns (we hope with your father's presidential campaign in 2012 :-) )

And welcome aboard, Hogan. Many of us here are eager to help in whatever way we can to get conservative candidates elected and to spread Governor Huckabee's message.

    God bless you all.

    Brian,

NO! The president didn't tell us the truth? I'm SHOCKED, I tell you, SHOCKED! It must have been a teleprompter glitch...

Hogan, I know Governor Huckabee would choose the BEST leader for HuckPAC. Expecting great things!

Sarah, all the best to you in your next step.

The consistent opposition of the vast majority of Americans to the obscene influence of money in politics has nothing to do with the involvement of foreign interests in the process. Only the most dishonest demagogue would try to claim otherwise.

    RE: 02/17/2010 05:57 PM

...except that the assertion regarding foreign corporations is simply not true.

The recent Supreme Court ruling did nothing to roll back existing prohibitions against foreign entities influencing elections in the U.S.

The President used his prime-time bully pulpit to flat-out lie to the American people about this in order to turn public opinion against the Roberts court, and it's why justice Samuel Alito mouthed the words "Not true."

    See here: http://www.americanthinker.com/blog/2010/01/alitos_not_true_was_correct.html

The spread of such misinformation, seeded by the president himself, helps to explain why public opposition to the ruling is so high.

    Anyway...again...welcome, Mr. Gidley!

Welcome, Mr. Gidley, and please help HuckPAC become the kind of organization that can appeal to most Americans.

Americans can unite when they understand the situation. A new Washington Post-ABC News poll finds that the vast majority of Americans are vehemently opposed to a recent Supreme Court ruling that opens the door for foreign and domestic corporations, labor unions, and other organizations to spend money directly from their general funds to influence campaigns.

The poll's findings show "remarkably strong agreement" across the board, with roughly 80% of Americans saying that they're against the Court's 5-4 decision. Even more remarkable may be that opposition by Republicans, Democrats, and Independents were all near the same 80% opposition range. Specifically, 85% of Democrats, 81% of Independents, and 76% of Republicans opposed it. In short, "everyone hates" the ruling.

The Coming GOP Schism and how we can Avoid Self Destruction
    by MrArbitrage

Sean Hannity had Ann Coulter as a guest on his show on Monday night and he asked her the question “how can we screw this up?” referring to the GOP.

I can tell you exactly how we will screw this up and at the end of this column – how we can AVOID screwing this up. The way we can screw this up is the same way we screwed it up last time around... at http://www.TableOfWisdom.com

There's been an interesting development in the anti anti-Christian war (meaning the war against those who are making war on Christians in this country).

Today the Supreme Court announced that on April 19 they will hear oral arguments in a very important case on freedom of religious expression. The case is known as The Christian Legal Society v Martinez. At the UC Hastings law school, a student group known as the Christian Legal Society was denied funding by the school because the group won't allow non-Christians to serve as officers of their group.

One aspect that makes this case even more interesting is that both sides have recently loaded up with top-rung lawyers. That may be a signal that they think the Supreme Court may use this case to make a broad constitutional ruling on te4h first amendment and the freedom of religious expression. They might overturn several decades of ant-Christian rulings by more liberal Supreme Courts. At least that is what I'd like to see happen.

To give you an idea of how top-rung the new lawyers are, when Bush started considering appointees for his first nomination to the Supreme Court, there were about five names at the top of that list. Two of those names, Roberts and Alito, were nominated to the Court. Michael McConnell was also on that list and he is the lawyer representing the student group. He is considered the top expert in the country on the constitutional issue of freedom of religious expression and the first amendment. If Bush had nominated a third male to the Court, it likely would have been McConnell. If Mike Huckabee had won the election and had been President, he likely would have nominated McConnell instead of Sotomayor (a huge reason why it's so unfortunate Mike Huckabee wasn't elected President.)

Theres also another case on this issue that the Supreme Court heard in early Ocotober but still has not passed down a ruling on.

So it will be interesting to see how this issue develops. The Christian Legal Society ruling will not come down until summer. The ruling on the other earlier case may come down before then, or the Court may hold the first one and issue it with the second one and make a big statement on the issue.
