They must have come to a better understanding because Mike still plugged his website at the end of his show today.

As far as the firestorm of criticism that FOX is getting today from geologists and vulcanologists:

It always amused me when scientist would refer to years in a geological time line. I’d always laugh and say give or take a few million years. Seriously, how can anyone really know for certain?

“I guess one days' worry is enough for one day without worrying about whether people "get" an ancient geological timeline.”

Absolutely!!! Some of them are off by at least a million or two, so that alone is not very accurate! : )

Just a side thought folks: Many times Muslims are accused of not denouncing terrorist acts publicly. God bless the Muslims that I saw outside the courthouse in Detroit where the Nigerian accused of trying to blow up the Northwest flight from Amsterdam over the Christmas holidays was entering his not guilty plea. These Muslims were outside the courthouse waving American flags and displaying anti-terrorist homemade signs. As a Christian, I am proud to call these people fellow freedom fighters and great Americans! I wish I lived up there as I would gladly go out and wave signs with them!!!!!!!!!!!!

    > Sunny, I couldn't figured out what the alleged conflict of interest was supposed to be. Someone might follow some links and at some point donate to a conservative pac? Was that their problem?

Your critique of FOX news leads me to remark on a firestorm of criticism that FOX is getting today from geologists and vulcanologists.

A FOX news article asserts the extinction of the dinosaurs occured 250 million years ago - while the accepted date by geologists is 65 million years ago and also they assert the volcano made coal.

Fox News -"That coal was formed by the same 250-million-year-old giant volcanic eruption — termed a supervolcano — that was responsible for the extinction of the dinosaurs."

This normally calm, cool geologist, Dr. Erik Klemetti, gets really riled up when the "mainstream media" gets their stories wrong. Anyway Erik who blogs has links to the FOX article and links to the thoughts of a few outraged science bloggers on the topic.

There is a big trial starting next week in California on Prop 8 (ban on same sex marriage). The gays are trying to overturn the state constitutional amendment banning same sex marriage, an amendment that was passed by the vote of the people.

The trail judge seems to be in favor of overturning it and has been siding with the gay activist side on all of his pretrial rulings, though most of his rulings for the gay activist side have been overruled by the Court of appeals or the Supreme Court.

His latest ruling, yesterday, is that the trial will be shown on You Tube/ This ruling opens up those testifying against same sex marriage to a lot of harrassment from gay activists as the You Tube clipes are played over and over worldwide. It also will make a media star out of the Judge. This ruling may yet be overruled also.

Whatever the outcome of the trial itself, it will be appealed all the way up to the Supreme Court, and whichever the Supreme Court rules on it, that will have a huge effect on the issue nation wide.

I am more than a little worried about how the Supreme Court will go on this. The key vote is Anthony Kennedy. There are four clear votes in favor of the ban (Thomas, Scalia, Alito and Roberts). Kennedy is not a sure conservative vote on this issue. Going all the way back to his days as a federal district judge in the San Francisco area, Kennedy has a history of often voting the way the gay activists want him to vote.

The constitutional issue is whether the due process clause of the 14th amendment (which originally was intended to protect the rights of ex-slaves in the South) guarentees equal protection under the law for any one to marry regardless of sex, and if so, does Prop 8 violate that equal protection.

If Kennedy does vote with the four conservatives on this issue, then that will greatly strengthen the legal position of banning same sex marriage. If Kennedy goes the other way and votes with the liberals, the Supreme Court could rule that all the states' existing bans on same sex marriage are unconstitutional.

So in many ways, this trial is going to be significant.

As far as your comments on Greta tonight, I think the Israelis recognize something that the Americans don't and that is that man is instinctively evil. Many of them might not believe in the grace of God, but they know what man is capable of and therefore they don't play games when it comes to national security. They simply do it right and we can learn alot from them. Man is instinctively evil and is capable of great harm. We in America must do a better job of protecting ourselves from the evil intent of men. America, let's learn from our Israeli friends. They are doing it right.

Huckabee violating Fox News' reported order to stop conflict of interest promotions

January 07, 2010 5:21 pm ET by Eric Hananoki
New year, same Fox News ethics.
On December 21, the Washington Post's Howard Kurtz reported that Fox executives told host Mike Huckabee to stop plugging his website "on the air after learning that it linked to his political action committee, which the network deemed a conflict of interest":
