It's Time To Get Out of the United Nations

I can't think of any person or business who would invest 28% of the cost of running an organization, and then listen to members of that organization blast you day after day, year after year.  That is exactly what is happening with the United States and its membership in the United Nations.  Even during these very tough economic times for our country, when we are incurring deficits in the trillions of dollars, we still pay 28% of the operating expenses of the United Nations.

I don't know about you, but to me, that's outrageous.  I said recently that while watching the latest fiasco at the United Nations, with Muammar Qaddafi and Hugo Chavez and Mahmoud Ahmadinejad I nearly had an Elvis moment.  I also said, only half jokingly, that it's time to get a jackhammer and simply chip off that part of New York City and let it float into the East River, never to be seen again.

It's time to say enough of the American taxpayer's dollar being spent on something that may have been a noble idea, but has become a disgrace!
It has become the international equivalent of ACORN and it's time to say enough!

Let's end the diplomatic excesses that these people enjoy.  Let any country that is willing to spend the money that the United States is hosting - let them have it.  Give it to the Saudis and let these diplomats suck the sand out of the Saudi desert for a few summers and see if that's where they'd like to go and make their ridiculous speeches.

For too many years the United Nations has held its hand out for our money, and then thumbed its collective nose at the United States.  It is obvious that all of the well intentioned efforts to encourage reform within the United Nations have failed.  We have reached the point of no return with this organization.  Reform has failed - now we should ask them to leave our shores.

Well, I'd like to see the UN transformed into an effective force for international cooperation, but that horse is, I fear, dead and decomposing and beating it would not cause it to return to life and health and turn it from circus tricks to working fields in need of plowing. I agree with Governor Huckabee.

How about we focus our efforts on the moribund GOP?

With O'Boma apologizing for the US and our people frequently, you can expect more and more disrespect for our nation. It's time to stand up and be counted for this great country of ours and its people. Tell me the good things we do, Mr. President.

Where else can we sit and listen to a bunch of dictators tell the U.S. what to do?

How could we short our President the forum to apologize some more?

All this and we get to help pay for it too. Wow!!!

Its probably not wise for us to not be at least diplomatically involved with the United Nations, that way we can keep our finger on the pulse of activity occurring there. We do however need to consider relocating the U.N. to another country, specifically somewhere in Europe. As well we need to consider a vast reduction in donations to the United Nations.

In studies, I have discovered that the United Nations is now supporting the Hegelians, and in doing so has accepted there ideas concerning globalization.

Many will ask who are the Hegelian's? These are those groups of people who follow the doctrine of GWf Hegel. It includes all communists, socialists, progressives and liberation theologists.

The focus of the Hegelian's is to globalized the world. One world government, and one world religion. Hegelian's see this as the only clear way to global peace.

Hegelian's have been moving us for years, toward globalization. It's no longer the economy its the global economy and its no longer our countries climate its global climate change. These are all focus terms bent on making us aware of global issues and preparing us for the acceptance of global rule and global law. You have heard our current president refer to the rule of international law, several times.

The link I have pasted below indicates how close we actually are to becoming globalized. Notice those that attended this meeting in March of 2009 then again in September of 2009.. You will find the United Nations to be involved in all of these conversations about globalization.
    March
    http://www.europeanforum.net/news/554/president_bill_clinton_addresses_brussels_conference_on_global_crisis
    September http://thepage.time.com/cgi-release-on-2009-annual-meeting/

Americans need to wake up and learn what is going on. If we miss these attempts at globalization, we will quickly find ourselves not as citizens of the United States but as citizens of the United Nations, ruled by international law, seeing our freedom as a nation and as individuals completely evaporate.

In summary, we need to diplomatically attend the United Nations, to keep track of the what is occurring there.
We do not however need to pay 28% of the U.N. budget, nor do we need to host the U. N. on US soil. Let the Hegelian's focus on their pipe dream of globalization without the United States. Let them go about there business on the soil of another country, while we in the US focus on issues which need to be resolve at home.

Re: United Nations Opinion Piece (1)

I like the format and content of your show. I like the fact that you share a relevant opinion piece at the end of each program and encourage folks to respond. Thank you. This is a very important topic. Forgive me for my lack of eloquence.

Dear Governor, perhaps it is best to go vertical on this one.
Just as health insurance needs reform, so does the UN . Neither need to be blown away. Seize the huge lost opportunity now and let the “R” these next few years stand for sensible and noble reform of our republic in a democratic, diplomatic and disciplined and dignified way. Go vertical, Mike.

Feel for the UN's loss of life in the war on terror; find ways to praise positive efforts of reform being made by new leaders; praise the good; value the important convenience of being in New York; and find ways to try to understand Khaddafy's situation; stand up for allies, the powerless, and America. Challenge fellow Americans who use the UN as a place to put us down.

I appreciate this place to share and appreciate the thoughts of other posters. In particular, I was enlightened by the historical perspectives shared by

I have said for years... and yes this includes all the elected Presidents back to and starting with Jimmy Carter that the United Nations is no organization for the United States to be associated with nor should it be allowed to be within or on U.S. sovereign lands.

With this said... the UN has now placed not just the world, but the US in grave sorts if not danger... I offer a solution as to what to do. But mind now that because of the level and magnitude of the issues concerning the relationship between the US and UN delegates the option I propose may seem drastic to most... but rest assured it is a solid, non violent, direct approach that will work most effectively.

The strategic actions are as follows:

    1) Monitor the dwellings of the delegates including schools of their children and workplaces of their spouses and associates that carry a diplomatic visa.

    2) Compile the bank records and real estate holdings of the people noted above and freeze them.

    3) Rent as many busses that will hold all parties holding such visa's.

    4) Logistically pick a date for removal of the visa holders in an orderly fashion.

    5) Transport such to the airport under security with US purchased tickets to thir countries of origin.

    6) Upon confirmation of their arrival to their homelands release the monies located in bank accounts.

    7) Property owned by any/all parties to be redistributed by a lottery process verified by legitimate SSN#s to AMERICAN citizens.

    8) Properties won by individuals are to be transfered tax free and if winners opt to sell such properties, they too will be non taxable. This will include the UN building itself and all consulate buildings complete with furnishings, artwork and appurtanences.

    Simple... Direct... Uncompromising... Fair...

At first glance, I look at the United Nations as a bureaucracy that takes unfair advantage of the hand (mostly the United States) that feeds it.

Stepping back and taking another look, I see the United Nations as a vehicle for keeping the communication lines open and doing a lot of good for the mixed world we live in.

I went to wikipedia just to get a birds eye view of the United Nations. I saw where the UN is made up of a lot of agencies and offices spread through out the world. Sort of reminds me of the government bureaucracy we have in the US.

I look at pictures of the UN building and ask how big is the UN and does it really have to be that big. I begin to draw the line when I here the UN could intervene in Americans freedoms and liberties.

What happens to the UN when human, financial, and material resources are drained from the United States? Where is the moderation? Where is the common sense? Where is the continuity / fairness? The US is the most in debt nation but it is still giving and the World is still taking. In some cases bleeding us dry.

Wouldn't it be great if we could find a sculpture to whittle away the obsolete / bad / useless from the UN. While he she is at it do the same with the US government.

All agencies need to be efficient and do what they were designed to do. When there are too many layers of disorganization added, they cease to be efficient and are no longer agents for the original need.

Gov Huckabee wrote last week of the end of Journalism, and now he rightly calls for America to get out of the UN. He is absolutely right to call the UN the international equivalent of ACORN.

Jeffrey Kuhner of the Washington Times writes a fine article about Obama's terrible speech to the UN and the "End of America's Moment".

    http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2009/sep/27/end-of-americas-moment/

Real leadership is needed now more than ever to bring freedom and prosperity back to America. We cannot wait for 2010 or 2012 and simply expect that the pendulum will swing back our way, we have to begin to seize the initiative and set the stage right now.

To those who disagree with getting out of the UN...
I hear what you are saying, but do you hear what you are saying?

The majority of members of the UN already see us as the bad guys. The UN is a waste of money, and no we don't need to stay. Just because we leave doesn't mean we walk away from the community! We then deal with the community one on one instead of through a money draining waste of time. Its time for the world to grow up and not expect to be hand fed by the US all the time. Take our money, our supplies then stab us in the back?!? Aspects of isolation are positive (Funneling that 28% back into the US economy) but not total isolation. Israel can always use our support, as well as any country that refuses to double talk about us. Also, any country that feels like we are the bad guy, let them take care of their own problems and let our military protect those who wish to be kind to the US and protect the US. Like my dad always said, "don't start the fight but always finish it." Thanks Huck for all you are doing.

In 1861, President Lincoln knew that a Civil War was imminent, but he didn't want to be the one to start it, so he took the defensive step of rearming the garrison at Fort Sumter in South Carolina. The deep South then seceded, fired on Fort Sumter, and the rest is history.

I believe we should deal with the UN like Lincoln dealt with the South - defensively. We should announce that, due to our economic situation, we can no longer afford to pay more than our fair share of UN expenses. (Our fair share happens to be 20%, since our gross domestic product is 20% of the world gross domestic product.) If the other nations do not then pick up the slack, the failure of the United Nations will be on them, not us, and history will regard it that way.

The UN was not imposed on us by the rest of the world, it was imposed on the rest of the world by us. the tirades of people like Chavez and Khadaffi should be ignored. Whether or not the UN survives, the USA should remain a force for good in the world by staying in the diplomatic game, dealing with other nations with the same sense of justice that we would want to be dealt with. This way, America will once again claim the respect it had at the end of WWII, when the UN was founded.

I hope, therefore, that Governor Huckabee will reconsider his stand on this issue.

You know as soon as the United Nations leaves and goes somewhere else, that some radical group will raid and/or bomb the facility, take hostages and demand the release of radical prisoners in every nation and that Israel be dismantled. Of course, the rest of the world will expect the U.S. to go in, save everyone, restore peace and rebuild without even a thank-you. Moreover, we'll be expected to do it all over again, and foot the bill, when it happens again six months later.

Good point! If you look at the history and founding of the UN, it will blow you away. The UN was basically founded, and has been run, by communists. In additions, it has become and un-constitutional "entangling foreign alliance."

To this homeschooling parent, the most onerous work of the UN is the UNCRC. Parents worldwide are allowing parental rights to be surrendered and replaced by the long arm of international law. Who, but a parent, truly places the upbringing of each unique child as a top priority? Who truly understands the individual needs of each little person? ...The UN? International law? We are sacrificing the very sanctity of our homes for candy-coated political jargon. Two cases will be heard in the US Supreme court this term which have the propensity to enforce the UNCRC even while it is not yet fully ratified. Huck, PLEASE continue to provide an outlet for the work of Mike Farris at ParentalRights.org as you speak out against our entanglement with the UN. We need a constitutional amendment to restore and preserve our families.

Put it to a referendum vote of the people; Not the members of the United Nations, mind you, but the citizens of the host country.

We have paid enough in Dollars and Diplomatic Immunity. Time for some other sucker nation to be sucked dry. Time for some other fool to take the responsibility. Time for some other naive group of frogs to be placed in cold water and slowly boiled to death. Time for The US to end this disease on our shores.

If we choose to send A Representative to the new location; be that Bangladesh or Iran, so be it. Maybe Hillery or Bill could be our permanent ambassador. If we pay them enough, maybe they will not trash us to the other nations. They would not have very much power (could be recalled at any time) and so for the first few years our American viewpoint might be represented very well.

But please do not sent bumbling Bidden. After all he is just bidding his time until he can get out from under the current regime. And don't send Barrack and Michelle since they are SO proud of their country (that's OUR country, you arrogant individuals).
Hey, Arlene Spector! Now there's a thought!

Of course you know I jest, but seriously folks this is a no brainer. If something is costing us more than necessary; giving us results we do not want; then insulting our intelligence; and literally insulting us as citizens of the greatest nation on earth; and most of these leeches condemn our our spiritual and/or cultural values; What in the name of reason are WE thinking, by keeping this corrupt institution on our shores?

I know the above rambling is not grammatically correct - just had to get it out.

God agrees with you about the United Nations. In April of this year, Prophet Kim Clement prophesied the following: "America shall look and say, 'What is this happening? We thought we could make peace through the United Nations.' Hey, what is the United Nations? It is an evil force, says the Lord, that is a stench to my nostrils. They are not what I called. The United Nations was established to promote worldwide understanding and cooperation. However, many UN members have used the institution as a bully pulpit to bash America. In the field, corrupt UN workers have used their positions to enrich themselves at the expense of relief programs. I agree the US should not be paying 28% of the tab when there are several other wealthy nations who are able to contribute more. Last week, Libya’s President Momar Qadafi was allocated 15 minutes for his speech before the UN General Assembly; yet, and he rambled on for 90 minutes … maybe we should base financial contributions on long-windedness.

    Gov. Huck.,

I totally agree with you. I think this is one thing of many the U.S. needs to do to curb our expenditures and ridicule from the international communities. Let some one else 'tote the load' a while and see how well the complaining nations like things. Saudi(or Kuwait) would be a great place for the UN.. and the U.S. pay no more $$ into the UN than say France does. ;)

I totally agree. When we start giving these dictators validation it is time to part ways with the organization that gives that validation.

Why do we still belong? As far as I can see it's a farce? And the comment below about being on the wrong end of a sanction?? Whoopteedo! None of the third rate dictatorships could care less when they have sanctions, why should we! I say drop out and use the cash for good!!

Yes, Mike I do agree totally agree with your vision of where the United Nations needs to be, know doubt over the years it has housed and allowed legions of undesirables into our great country! And in the process just like you stated turned the noses up at our great country in every way and any way possible! We do not need them here amoung "US" any more!

I totally agree. I have said this for years, especially based upon the actions of the WHO and their liberalistic views!!
