I support and have always supported passage of a constitutional amendment to protect the right to life. My convictions regarding the sanctity of life have always been clear and consistent, without equivocation or wavering. I believe that Roe v. Wade should be overturned.
Today is the 36th Anniversary of Roe v. Wade and I have read that President Obama may choose today to reverse some of the Bush administration's decisions regarding abortion. I hope and pray this is not true but I expect him to do so at some point soon.
Regardless of when, it seems clear that for at least the next two years, supporters of the pro-life cause will sadly be on the defensive against the Democrats in Congress and our new President.
We must be prepared to fight twice as hard in the days ahead for our ideas and the pro-Life candidates we support through Huck PAC.
After you make a contribution, I urge you to find a friend who is willing to do the same today.
Now, the task is to stand more firm than ever in the convictions that life is precious and is the basis of liberty. I will work to elect good men and women to help shape this nation. It will be a long journey. I hope you're ready to join me.
Fighting for our principles,

I had not noticed your blog until after I wrote mine. If you read what I wrote, I think we are pretty much on the same page with regard to abortion. As I had stated, what I call a pro-life prevention chain with support mechanisms such as you described will inevitably have a greater effect on inhibiting the practice than a federal law.
I believe as you stated, there are grass roots movements at work, but it would be helpful if the gov't provided additional funding, support, and enacted legislation that enabled and networked these grass roots efforts.
The grass roots pro-life prevention chain may be our only way to inhibit the practice for some time, due to the fact that Obama and liberal Congress are in for 4 years. In addition, I'm concerned about Obama's selection of Supreme Court Justices during his tenure. That swings the Court to a liberal majority, probably.
Just sharing some thoughts. I agree the real answer ultimately lies in changing the hearts and minds of people. Laws only have not mitigated murder, rape, etc. - only the Lord changing the heart has had a major affect on reducing prisoner return rate. Its hard to know whether "safe, legal, and rare" from some Democrats always implies "arbitrary abortion on demand."
Both parties working on prevention would be a vertical solution amenable to both; the amendment will polarize both sides toward a non-solution. Bipartisan attitudes are needed to co-work together.
Appreciated your thoughts.

Sad to say, it just came out on the news. What Mike heard is true.
Officials say President Barack Obama will sign an executive order Friday ending the ban on federal funds for international groups that promote or perform abortion.
On abortion, I think that as a moral principle, we as conservatives believe that abortion is wrong and violates the sanctity of life. In addition, we believe that pastors, family, counselors, etc. are critical to enacting a pro life prevention chain. In addition, bringing our youth to Christ will help break the spirit of promiscuity, promoting abstinence, and reducing the need.
I do believe Roe vs Wade should be overturned. At this point tho, I believe that enacting the pro-life change in hearts and culture is more critical in the long run than a bureaucratic legislator in Washington dictating a law. Legislation against abortion has only partially inhibited its activities [statistically proven]. Abortion may also go underground or out of state/country. At this point in time, I believe more stronger in the ultimate goal of breaking the spirit of abortion in our land more than enacting a law inhibiting its activities.
In addition, I have read that all family law has historically been relegated to the States. Marriage, divorce, adoption, custody – all aspects of family law and domestic relations – have been the province of the States. That’s what the Supreme Court has said in case after case. Also, it takes Congressional majority and 3/4 state ratification over a 7 year period to pass an amendment.
This dialogue is not intended to convey a lack of conviction that abortion as a moral principle is Biblically and Constitutionally wrong. Its intended to stir some thought as to whether our focus is misdirected and we need to consider state level legislation along with agendas that enhance the pro-life change in hearts and culture. I’m wondering if that’s why McCain has stated, let the states decide, and bring a federal amendment if necessary. It appears that time may not be on the side of initiating at the federal level only.
This is my current view, and is not fixed in concrete.

Hi,
Just wanted to share that I am very pro life personally but I do not feel that changing the law will make a huge difference. I feel that supporting policies and a society where a family is able to "make it" - so their kids can have child care that is do-able, and a college education that is affordable, will go much farther in preventing abortions from happening. I've worked with many families and young parents and many choose abortions because they feel that is more "humane" than bringing them into a world without enough food, healthcare, or lack of opportunity because of lack of ability to pay for college. Combining Repubican values of respecting life before birth, with Democratic values of supporting a healthy life with opportunities will collectively create the culture of life we need to spread in the hearts and minds of people. I respect people wanting to change the law, but respectfully submit that there is much more to do. Before Roe v Wade there were MANY abortions - maybe even AS many - we will never k now. We need to held families create opportunities for their children, make adoption easier, etc., and in my opinion, make birth control affordable and accessible (I would not mind free for all). PLEASE consider using some of your resources now to help families and single parents now, or organizations like BirthRight which helps homeless pregnant women find housing. It's easier to get an abortion than find housing, etc. It's easier to buy a gun than get health insurance. Please consider other means to create a culture of a quality of life that WILL encourage women to keep their unplanned pregnancies. This truly WILL save some lives, right now, and if everyone shifted towards this attitude, eventually more babies will be saved.

Another way to help is to visit the Susan B. Anthony List web sight (sba-list.org) and use their forms and petitions to contact your congressmen on specific bills they can support or appose relating to abortion like Mike Pence's Title X Abortion Provider Prohibition Act (H.R. 4133),

Two quick points:
1. In my message below I said the Constitution says "all men are created equal." I should have, of course, identified the Declaration of Independence as the correct document that contains those hallowed words. But the latter is certainly the spirit with which we ought to interpret the Constitution. So, the point remains.
2. I heard a startling, tragic irony today: The number of people attending Barak Obama's inauguration was about 1.3 million. If you watched the inauguration on TV and saw all those faces, that will give you an idea of how many preborn babies are killed in this nation-EVERY YEAR: about 1.3 million!

Culture of Life: Mike Huckabee
The Bible says in Psalms 139:13-14
"For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful and I know that full well."
http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Psalm+139:13-14
Governor Huckabee wants constitutional amendment to protect the right to life and overturn Roe vs Wade. He believes every life has intrinsic value and worth. God must be so happy when Mike Huckabee's name comes up.
vs.
Culture of Death: President Obama
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pf0XIRZSTt8
Did you hear what President Obama said, "I will not yield and Planned Parenthood will not yield." in the above video.
Will not yield? This clearly shows President Obama is an extreme liberal. Will not yield? God must be so sad when he hears his name. The President of our country. Will not yield to the Culture of Life??
This signals he is going to push his "Culture of Death" strategy hard on the American people to accept.
Can you just see it now in the years to come under President Obama's adminstration? Big huge red tape bureaucracy government, a dictatorship brewing on the horizon. The Bible can no longer be freely preached over radio or television stations because they say it is offensive?
What's next under President Obama's adminstration? Terminally ill person is not a life worth living. Maybe a severely disabled child is a life not worth living; what about a person with a limited IQ?
The morals that keep America society bonded together will be torn into shreads. Caring for others and life will turn backwards, a Darwinism culture of survival of the fittest will be pushed on us to accept.
Our courageous leader Mike Huckabee wants to bring America up with a Culture of Life and harmony. He wants to restore a moral code of honor and respect for all.
As Mike says in his new sensational NY Times Best Seller "Do the Right Thing", "Those on the Left don't want to accept that morality is the defining issue in our society..."
Let's work hard in getting great conservative leaders elected in these upcoming years and Mike Huckabee for President in 2012.
Let's slow down President Obama's Culture of Death generation on us Americans. Germany did it in the 1930's against Jews. President Obama is heading down the same path, who is worthy of life and who isn't.
Let's show Mike Huckabee we are ready to roll! We are ready to fight the good fight. We are ready to lace up our running shoes and go out and knock out a 20 miler. No hill is too big for a Huckabee Fan!
Let's show our energy by lighting up the US Huckabee Fan map and adding a massive amount of more Huckabee Fans to each state!
http://www.freewebs.com/huckapedia
Thanks,
HuckapediaPS - Let's also pray for President Obama in coming to the realization that the Culture of Death way is not what America folks want pushed on us.
PSS - As Sarah Huckabee once said when she was 11 years old to her Dad Mike, "Why didn't somebody do something?" when she saw the horrible pictures of Dachau and Auschwitz during their visit to Israel. Let's not the same thing happen to America with the Culture of Death strategy that President Obama wants to push on us to accept.

It is alarming that the new President, at the beginning of his administration, chooses to focus on the needs of terrorists by executive order without a preliminary period of fact finding and review that would allow for adequate planning of alternative options. Will the cries of the innocent and vulnerable occupants of the human womb, who have been terrorized by torturous abortion techniques, be loud enough to evoke such empathy?

God bless you, Gov. Huckabee, for standing up for the preborn babies who are being murdered by abortion in the name of "choice."
Like many on this site, I pray that as many hearts will be changed as possible and that through the tireless efforts of pregnancy help centers, counselors, and so many other prolife workers who reach out with compassion and care to others, that the number of abortions will decrease drastically. But, I also know, that despite these laudable efforts, they will never be enough to end this evil scourge. We will never change enough hearts to keep up with the pace of the abortion slaughter—one child murdered every 20 seconds in this nation. And even if we could change all those hearts, our nation would still be accounted as evil for having a law that allows the slaughter of innocent children. We must always have as our goal complete full restoration of the *legal* protection of every single preborn baby. And, this requires overturning Roe v. Wade and a federal Amendment to the US Constitution that explicitly states the reality that the preborn are human persons and therefore must have EQUAL rights with all other human beings, from fertilization onward, including the sacred rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
I thank God that I have the protection of the LAW that says it is illegal for someone to kill me and that anyone who does, or even attempts to do so, will be strictly punished. I am glad I don’t have to rely on the inept philosophy of "safe, legal, and rare." I'm glad I don't have to blindly hope that through the compassion and caring of others, the heart of my would-be killer will be changed before he attempts to kill me. I’m glad the Rule of Law protects my life. If only the preborn babies would have this same protection that I have? Why can’t they?
Our Constitution says, "all men are created equal." That means every single human life, from conception (fertilization) on, is EQUAL in value to every other human being! And therefore, the preborn baby has the same right to life as the mother and the father, the same right as each and every other human being! Our laws *must* reflect this equality. We must insist on it. We must *never* settle for less.
Without the full protection of the law, these poor babies will be murdered by the millions year after year—ripped apart limb by limb, burned to death, brains sucked out—a brutality that should bring us to tears. And countless women will be pressured by unscrupulous men or boys, the parents of those boys, and in some cases even their own parents, to kill their own children and then will have to live with that painful guilt the rest of their lives.
Let's keep caring and praying and changing hearts—yes—but let’s never give up the fight for what our ultimate goal must be: the restoration of FULL PROTECTION BY LAW of EVERY preborn baby. Until these poor babies have that protection, we will never rid this nation of abortion, and until we rid this nation of abortion, this nation will never be truly civilized.
If we start believing in the proabortion lie that it's not about changing the law but merely about changing hearts--the so-called "safe, legal, and rare" lie--then why not get rid of ALL laws? Why not get rid of laws against all other forms of murder, and against arson, domestic abuse, stealing, and lynching, and just try to reach out to people with compassion and change their hearts?
The reason is that the LAW protects the weak and the small from those who would try to harm them, from those who refuse to change their hearts and instead seek to do evil. Changing hearts and caring action are always good. But they can never be a substitute for the Rule of LAW.
To see this more clearly, just try to apply the pro-legalized-abortion argument to other issues: For example, if slavery were not outlawed in this nation, would we have ever ended it? Surely not. So, what if slavery were legal today? What would we do about it? We could reach out with caring action to slave-owners and try to change their hearts, and maybe we could even help them to farm their land so that they wouldn’t feel pressured by their economic situation to “choose” to have slaves. We could try to reach their hearts and pray for them every day—all well and good, and we would probably even help convert some of them. But, even with all of this, we would just be making a tiny dent toward ending slavery. The poor victims of slavery would continue to suffer, because those who victimize them would have the protection of the law saying they have a “right to choose” to have slaves, and the rights of the victims themselves (who would not even be considered to be persons by that unjust evil law) would be ignored. The end result would be that slavery would persist indefinitely until—if ever—the good people rose up to outlaw it. Likewise with abortion.
Our ultimate goal must always be to restore legal protection to every single preborn baby. The very fundamental core of a civil society is the Rule of LAW. Without it, we really aren’t a free nation.
Freedom is not possible when the rights of the innocent are being trampled upon by those who have power and money. When we have just laws that protect the rights of the smallest and weak among us, then we will truly be a free nation because we will truly have "equal justice under law."
God have mercy on us!

You are so right, Gov. Huckabee.
It has only been a short time since the many voices of the American people defeated the Kennedy/McCain so call amnesty bill, and the same thing can be possible to defeat a bill that would put more unborn babies at risk.

The preamble of the US Constitution says:
"....secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our POSTERITY......"Who is the "posterity" ???
All of us are the "posterity"....
and all of us were unborn when that was written.
Posterity is the unborn.
The unborn should have the secure blessings of liberty.... therefore abortion is morally wrong AND unconstitutional.
What is so hard about that for those lawyers and judges ?
