I am excited to announce the launch of our National Volunteer Team. Our goal is to identify volunteers nationwide, organize into local groups in every county of the United States and then assist Huck PAC endorsed candidates.
We have divided the country into regions and will begin recruiting leadership in every state and county. Ultimately, these leaders will be responsible for building local volunteer teams, setting up events, organizing phone banks, knocking on doors and much more. Our goal is to have at least one Huck PAC group leader in every county in the nation by the end of 2009.
This is one part of our plans but is a very important part. We want to make a difference locally in the races of the candidates we are supporting (as we did with Saxby) and we believe having a volunteer team in place will make a big difference. We had a strong record of candidate support in 2008 but we weren't satisfied with the results.
Our country needs conservative leadership now more than ever. Important issues are at stake: tax reform, controlling spending, the 2nd Amendment, sanctity of life, traditional marriage and much more.
To join this team, please complete this volunteer form. If you are interested in making a difference and working with fellow conservatives in your community, I encourage you to sign up.
Our goal is to identify 500 volunteers by January 15 and build out from there. If you have friends that might be interested, ask them to join our team by visiting www.huckpacvolunteer.com.
After you signup, a National Volunteer Team Grassroots Coordinator for your state will contact you very soon.
In 2009, we hope to be very active in the Virginia and New Jersey elections. In 2010, we will be ready to have a national impact on local races.
I am incredibly excited about this opportunity and I hope you are as well.
I will update you again very soon. In the meantime, please signup for the National Volunteer Team today.
With deep gratitude,
Mike Huckabee

P.S. to all the Sarah bashers: if Mitt Romney or Fred Thompson or John McCain or Rudy Guiliani or Bobby Jindal or Rick Perry or Tim Pawlenty had half of Gov. Sarah Palin's guts, any one of 'em could have spoken up for God and defended their faith (if they have any) and stood up for the defenseless children and downs syndrome children and pre-born babies!
No one even comes close to Gov. Palin except for Gov. Huckabee who should have been our nominee this year.
If Gov. Huckabee is smart, he'll have Gov. Sarah and Todd Palin bring that whole adorable family on his show!

Jan, your hubby was so right. Many of us HuckPACers only voted for McCain because Palin was on the ticket.
Gov. Sarah Palin is a lot like Gov. Mike Huckabee: they both have the guts to speak up about moral issues and defend their faith in God, just like Pres. George W. Bush does.
I think the reason Cindy McCain was excited about Gov. Palin is because her family foundation worked with downs syndrome children.
What a lot of us loved the most about Gov. Palin (after we got to know her because we'd never heard of her before last Sept.) was that she took on the good ole boys network!
Sarah wasn't fazed by the sorority little boys club. She may not have passed Katie Couric's initiations. But Mac had a chance to pick Huck and he passed the baton to Palin.
Of course, it will be better after Palin gets re-elected as Governor and serves a few more years and gets a few more notches under her belt.
But never forget that Gov. Palin has met all the other governors and she is one of the most popular, just like Gov. Huckabee was.
Once God has elevated you into the limelight, he's not about to forget the purpose he chose Sarah -- because never think that it was just Mac who made the choice.
God chose Gov. Sarah Palin, that's why she was so popular, just like Gov. Huckabee!
Don't be sad, HuckPACers! If Obama turns out not to actually be the anti-Christ, a Huckabee/Palin ticket really is our best bet in 2012!
You don't have to take my word for it! Sarah has a huge Fan Club called TeamSarah.org and Janine Turner and Marjorie Dannenfelser, and Jeri Thompson (Fred Thompson's wife) and Greta Van Susteren and Stephen Moore and Glen Beck and Wolf Blitzer, and Sean Hannity and Rudy Giuliani!
Everybody loves Sarah because she's one of us -- she's Sarah! Sarah is R.E.A.L.!
Shania Twain sings about Sarah.

I don't have much time to comment at the moment, but I will say that I think it's healthy that at least a small core of perceptive people can see the Palin phenomenon for what it is, and point it out for those who may not be up to speed.
That way, even die-hard Palin supporters (such as Deborah, one of our best) will be familiar with the fatal problems presented by a future Palin candidacy. I hope that this knowledge will be enough to carry the day once it becomes more obvious what the media is trying to do.
At least no one will be able to claim there was no warning.

So, I volunteered from the politically messed up state of IL, but to date, haven't had anyone contact me. I did get 2 voice mails from a political group, but didn't know if that group was affiliated with Huckpac. I sent out 65 emails to friends, and used my facebook to let everyone know about huckpac. I'd like to start "getting my shirt dirty" and when you are married to a plumber...well, that has multiple meanings! So, contact me when it's convient...there are many of us conservs in IL. I know PE Obama has promised change, unfortunately it's not change I can personally believe in. So I would prefer to look to the future, to support Gov Huckabee~who promotes change I CAN personally believe in.
I fear for the future of my children and their children, and their faces, as well as the troops that defend us daily, willing to give their lives if necessary, drive me to work to better the future. My hubby wouldn't have voted for McCain, had Palin not come on the ticket. I might be wrong but think McCain may have picked Palin because of the angry Clinton females, hoping to pick up some of their support. When we lost the election, I did feel that Palin and esp her family had taking too much beating, so I sent her flowers. If you saw the Fox moose chilli interview, my flower were on the table between Gov Palin, and Greta.
Then I got a call from Gov Huckabee...all in all not bad for my first time involement in any election. So, reporting for duty, folks!

Deborah: My goal was not to dampen the "spirit" of Sarah Palin. It was to put it in the context of a reality that is larger than the extreme right wing of the Republican party.
Steve Goff: It is disappointing to read that Fox released a poll showing Palin favored over Huckabee for the 2012 race. As you know, polls serve the people who conduct them. This adds to my suspicion that Mike was hired by Fox as a way to redefine him as an entertainer so that the economic conservatives can keep their control over the Republican party.
Personally, I would have preferred that Mike spend his time (or some of it) at a "think tank" getting foreign policy credentials in preparation for 2012, but also understand that he must make a living. But I also believe that Obama is smart enough to think carefully about what Mike has to say publically.
Juliee: Thank you.

One last point--and then I promise I'm through. It's not that many on this site don't mind justified criticism of Palin or any other candidate, but unjustified attacks of a MALICOUS nature, imparticularly on Sarah Palin, seems to open a fresh wound for many of us, primarily because of the veritable assault which was the product of a media bias of the like few of us have ever seen. It was interesting to notice some on this site decry the bias of the conservative media, while giving the liberal media a pass on everything because it furthered their own agenda, all the while accusing those of us who voted for McCain of sacrificing their principles. Who sacrificed their principles?
So when a person deviates from the respected norm of criticism into malice directed at a person that many respect on this site, than I will call it what it is--a clever attempt to sow discord amongst the Huckpac community, because a "house divided amongst itself cannot stand" and if we spend time bickering and fighting over issues, than we will get nothing productive accomplished, so I vow from this period on not to take the bait, and I'm washing my hands of this whole ordeal.

Dr. D:
The fact that I have a bad habit of insulting entire demographics probably doesn't help either, so I'm going to try to be a little more selective with some of my comments.
Fox News released a poll a while back which showed Palin defeating Huckabee with 4 to 1 odds, though I am slow to believe the figures, especially since the primaries are four years away (along with the simple fact that I just don't trust the media when it comes to anything Huckabee.)
As far as the conservative media, I have felt that they have made amends to Huckabee by elevating him to the position that he is in, then again, it may just boil down to ratings. Either way, they have extended their hand to him, so I will try look at the situation in a non-cynical fashion.
Regardless of what the media says, I think Huckabee is going to be force to be reckoned with next go around. And really, there is no reason to focus on the past, it would benefit us tremendously if we let go of all of our angst and have a more postive vision of the future.

Dear Gov. Huckabee,
Is there any chance that within your National Volunteer Group we can somehow organize online prayer groups broken down by state? I started one under a gubernatorial candidate's grassroots volunteer website in our state, and it was amazing to have God's people all over the state join (online) to pray weekly for state issues that affect faith and family. A couple people helped post prayer requests each week, and others could if they wanted to. We are going to have legislation in our state this session that challenge traditional marriage and who knows what else, and much prayer is needed. I hesitate a little to start an open site on Facebook as I am concerned that those who don't have the same heart will be "heckling", and I really hope for a clean prayer site. However, if it is done under your National Volunteer group, I suspect those who will have access will already have a heart to pray for the things that matter to us.
Just something to consider...

I think the saga of Sarah Palin can be summarized in a few key facts.
First, her selection as running mate was a big disappointment to those who understood that Mike Huckabee was John McCain's best chance to win. However, she deserved no criticism for that decision, only respect for the sacrifice she was willing to make.
Second, at the Republican convention, she did an excellent job of reading the teleprompter and exciting the crowd. It even looked at that moment as though she had been a good choice.
Third, her subsequent TV interviews gave significant ammunition to the Democrats' attempts to portray her as an airhead. Granted that the media were on a mission to embarrass her; but it was a little too easy to do so. This may have been due to the handlers' "training" which interfered with her ability to react naturally, but also she did not come across as knowledgeable.
In retrospect, her selection as a running mate did not do what McCain needed. This nation is 34% conservative, 44% moderate, and 22% liberal. No conservative or liberal can win without the votes of the moderates. That does NOT mean that the conservatives need to sacrifice their principles! Ronald Reagan didn't. But it does mean they need to reach out beyond the base to the independents.
The liberal media sense a loyalty to Sarah Palin in the conservative base that they can exploit, precisely because she does not appeal to the moderates. To keep her in the discussion is a way to hurt Mike, whose support with moderates is infinitely greater than her own.
If the Republicans want to regain the White House in 2012, they need to send Palin back to govern Alaska, and get behind Huckabee.

She's not mine either. I feel that there were obvioulsy better choices due to my belief that experience should be a pre-requisite for the position and was quite shocked to see that Pawlenty didn't get the pick, but with charisma and star power being a quality that Americans find as the creme' de le crex of their political tastes, one would have to wonder if this wasn't a factor in McCain's decicision.
I blame the bulk of McCain's defeat on McCain who alienated his base with his lukewarm stance on key issues, and mixed message sent out to both sides of the spectrum by trying to reach out to "moderates." Add this to the disillusionment of conservatives on behalf of their party and you have a recipe for defeat.
Is Palin's star sinking? I don't know, but CBS news was running negative polls and stories on her while she was drawing crowds of 20,000+, something McCain was unable to do. With this being said, I think she would not be a good candidate for 2012 unless she beefs up her resume, and if she holds on to her appeal there is a strong chance that social conservative vote could be split in 2012, something that the anti-Huckabee establishment would be very pleased with.
So yes, Palin is the "alternative" to Huckabee for us Huckabites and people of similar political thought--this is not a crack on Palin, it just is what it is--and I'm more comfortable with my original choice.

01/17/2009 01:00 AM
One point that I missed--the obvious choice of Palin in an attempt to syphon off Hillary Clinton's disillusioned female vote. This isn't a knock on Palin, though it was a transparent move on behalf of the McCain camp which resulted in no real benefit, especially considering that Obama captured most of the single female vote.
-
Goff, Steve
01/16/2009 10:08 PM
I cannot think of a specific example where I can fault Palin in anything, (with the exception of the Katie Couric interview) especially considering that Joe Biden revealed a much broader lack on knowledge on many subjects, and Barack Obama had just as little experience, (less if you include Palin’s entire career) so it seems that any justified criticism would seem to be more of a universal issue of qualification on both ends of the spectrum to include experience as any electability factor. I have always felt that Palin was more of substitute for Huckabee in order to appease the critical voting block which is the social conservative base. Since the vote was split pretty much down the center for Huckabee and Romney, either choice for McCain was a risk, considering that he stood a chance of alienating both sides of an equally split vote. So it appears that McCain made the safe choice, while siding with the socially conservative vote, (though I have my suspicions that he wouldn't have chosen Huckabee regardless of the situation.)
Beyond our personal opinions on the matter, there is a broader effect to be considered in her choice. If the media is attempting to pit Huckabee against Palin it may reflect a broader motive in her selection which in my opinion is an attempt to split the social conservative vote. McCain’s selection of Palin did more than solidify the conservative base in his favor, it set up Palin as a potential contender for the Republican bid in 2012. Whether this move was intentional or just a by-product of the choice is, and will continue to be, unknown. (Of course we all know that Palin was also chosen because she represented a “glass ceiling” and presented a contrast to Obama’s campaign.) Broad social conservative support made Huckabee a contender in the previous election, throwing a wrench in the entire process and showing the strength of the social conservative block. So as Huckabee is a figure, or visible “face” of the social conservative movement as represented by our vote, Palin is a visible figure of “Huckabee” the choice of the people who hold the distinct political duality of posing a considerable threat to the conservative establishment while simultaneously forming a critical voting block. If McCain would have chosen Huckabee, it would have solidified the power on his side, and Palin would have no doubt remained in obscurity, resulting in the social conservative vote having less of a chance of being split. If Palin can hold on to her appeal until 2012, then she will prove to be a considerable force. If the major contenders are split between social conservatives and an establishment pick, or heavens forbid, a moderate, then it is likely that the social conservative vote will be split, removing Huckabee and Palin from the running (as long as Palin remains to be a force.) That isn’t to say that Huckabee can’t win. If Huckabee can mount significant wins for candidates that he has endorsed, and continues to acquire broad appeal through the media, then he might have a possible edge through mass recognition and endorsements.

I’m not convinced that Barack Obama is going to approach national security in the same fashion as the previous administration. Obama has already sent a clear signal with his selection of Panetta as head of the CIA and with his stance on GITMO. These things alone should give us an indicator as to how he is going to run our National Defense. The President Elect has also revealed in an interview with USA Today that he will take a more hands on approach in regard to the Israeli/Palestinian conflict, i.e. the United States will have face to face negotiations with Hamas and Israel. This is a sharp deviation from the Bush policy, and solidifies the theme that Obama has been discussing throughout his entire campaign: non-conditional negotiations with America’s enemies.
Interestingly enough, Obama has chosen to retain the warrantless wire tapping program which has kept us safe for years now, and it is expected to carry the Iraq war under the same protocol, (why fix it if it’s not broke?) but if we look a little closer, we can see a clear distinction of philosophy in regard to the Obama administrations approach to national security as compared to the Bush administration.
Of course, Obama’s decision to keep the Patriot Act was the correct decision from a national security and political preservation standpoint, but we must remember who it was who opposed the patriot act: certain groups of American citizens. Obama, it appears, wants to govern from the center (at least for the time being) and to do so he seems to be content with siding against special interest within his own party in order to achieve this goal. So why the distinction between the CIA/GITMO and the Patriot Act? I think the answer is fairly simple. Obama is more concerned with meeting the demands of foreign governing institutions than he is satisfying the special interest within his own country.
In order to have an understanding of Obama's stance in the matters (beyond his far left constituents) we have to look into his world philosophy. Remember the "European Tour" where he proclaimed himself a "citizen of the world?" Now we must ask ourselves: Who has been the biggest critics of how the CIA conducts business and how GITMO is operated?
In 2006, the Commission on Human Rights at the United Nations condemned GITMO in a report calling on the US to “try or release all terrorist suspects” housed at the institution. The use of indefinite detention is also in violation of the UN convention against torture. The Parliament of the European Union also voted overwhelmingly to close GITMO down in 2006. So in light of these facts, it is very probable that we will see our country’s national security policies shift to a more globalized philosophy that is more in line with the UN and the EU, which means it is very likely that we will see more influence of these institutions in the shaping of our national security policies.
Regardless of the assumptions we can make from the shift, it is safe to say that our country is heading in a new direction from its previous course. Only time will tell how far our policy will deviate from that standard of the past eight years, but from many of the first moves of the incoming administration, there is sufficient evidence to warrant that we will see separate philosophy of action.

Doctor David: If I lived in Alaska, I would be outraged at Palin’s current campaign of self-promotion at the expense of her duties to the state, after an embarrassing defeat in a national campaign in which she not only appeared untested, but did much to lower the level of the debate and appeal to superstitions and prejudices, making her whole party look worse in the process.
Meanwhile, as Linda pointed out in a recent comment, the “Huckabee attacks Palin” narrative is slowly simmering. An interesting question is: how can the media reconcile its determination not to mention Mike Huckabee with its desire to pit Huckabee against Palin? Since the majority of Americans seem to regard Palin as something of a joke, casting Huckabee as one of her critics would probably enhance his overall popularity.
The solution, I think, is to allow the Huckabee vs. Palin narrative to develop mostly in “conservative” circles, where Palin is more popular. Here, she can be successfully portrayed as a victim, without generating any collateral sympathy for her perceived critic. In keeping with this strategy, CNN’s headline read “Republican pans Palin interview,” rather than “Huckabee pans Palin interview.” Although the latter is shorter and more informative, in keeping with good journalistic practice, it commits the cardinal sin of mentioning Huckabee’s name. The headline which was actually chosen is also better in two other ways. First, it makes the article more likely to be read only by Republicans, since it implicitly makes the “controversy” an internal affair. Republicans have been carefully taught that Palin is their idol and paragon of virtue, and are expected to react with anger against her “attacker,” while those more likely to agree with criticism of Palin are thoughtfully steered away. Secondly, it needlessly repeats the common knowledge that Huckabee is a Republican at a time when Republicans in general are unpopular and have just suffered a humiliating defeat.

The HuckPAC information is coming so fast that it is hard to keep a discussion going on any given thread! Of course, the upside of that is the progress being made in the development of the National Volunteer Team.
A few days ago, Ben Dribus called attention to the fact that the media are constantly using the appeal of Sarah Palin as a means to eliminate the threat posed by Mike Huckabee to the secularization of America. Perhaps they will soon have to find another way to try to marginalize him. A story on a CBS internet website has reported that Palin's political standing in Alaska has fallen rapidly since the election. I have pasted a part of it below:
"A brand-spanking-new poll on pollster.com shows Sarah Palin has turned off even her own fellow hunters, frontiersmen, and hockey moms to a point no one could have believed back in September. That was when she was seen as God's gift to the religious right. Now, however, what God hath "given-eth" God is taking away. The pollster poll shows incumbent Alaska Republican Sen. Lisa Murkowski whuppin' Governor Palin in a hypothetical matchup for Murkowski's Senate seat by 57 percent to 33 percent. Even with a 4.4 percent margin of error, that's plenty of room for Murkowski to win in a walk."

In regard to creating jobs: While infrastructure projects are desperately needed in parts of our country, we have to ask ourselves if it is a good move to rely on them ALONE to help us weather the current economic storm. We can argue that the construction and building sector will be stimulated, but beyond this anything else would seem to be questionable. (This is of course according to my limited knowledge.)
With the cost of oil dropping to $40 dollars a barrel, and the cost of gas being slashed to half of its previous cost on the consumer end, I have to wonder if any of our leaders still remember the situation that we were in six months ago. It seems that in the wake of the Trillion Dollar Bailout, and the reduction of gas prices, most in America have forgotten that an energy crisis was at one time, the primary issue of the 2008 campaign.
It is also important to remember that once infrastructure projects are completed, they will, for the most part, cease to stimulate the economy. Tapping and refining our oil will stimulate the economy for years to come, so it is a long term solution the problem as opposed to a short term solution.
Another benefit: all we have to do is remove the impediments keeping the oil companies from drilling and refining, i.e. we don’t have to inject any tax payer money into the process. Now, if the government wanted to expedite the process they could allocate funds to the oil companies as non-interest loans in order to help expedite the process. (They would of course, have to be careful since the government lost one billion dollars attempting something similar in 1984.)
Energy development needs to be considered as a course of action that our country needs to take in order to create jobs in an economic downturn because it will spur growth in the refining, shipping, and construction industries. It will also make our country more secure, and continually stimulate the economy, something that is desperately needed. That isn’t to say that infrastructure isn’t needed—it is, but we should limit infrastructure only to projects that are critically needed, and find ways to tap our natural energy supply at an expedited pace. The time to do it is now—while the price of fuel is low, instead of allowing the downturn to cause us to slip into the all too common complacency that seems to permeate much of our society.
All of this has been repeated to the point of being moot, but it is important to keep in mind that the administration that helps America become energy independent will always have a positive mark in the history books for this one move alone, this is especially important during times when the challenges are stacked in such a way to make a certain number of failures seem inevitable. So those in power should think of energy independence as a sort of insurance policy, whose manifold benefit extends far beyond simple economic stimulation.
PS: The coal and nuclear energy industries also have the potential to spur economic
growth and spur job creation on a large scale, and make energy independence
a realistic goal for our country.PPS: I watched Return of the Jedi instead of news last night and I must say that it was quite an enjoyable experience.

In Florida, an atheist became incensed over the preparation for Easter and Passover holidays and decided to contact the local ACLU about the discrimination inflicted on atheists by the constant celebrations afforded to Christians and Jews with all their holidays while the atheists had no holiday to celebrate.
The ACLU jumped on the opportunity to once again pick up the cause of the godless and assigned their sharpest attorneys to the case.
The case was brought before a wise judge who after listening to the long, passionate presentation of the ACLU lawyers, promptly banged his gavel and declared, "Case dismissed!"
The lead ACLU lawyer immediately stood and objected to the ruling and said, "Your honor, how can you possibly dismiss this case? Surely the Christians have Christmas, Easter and many other observances. And the Jews--why in addition to Passover they have Yom Kippur and Hanukkah ..and yet my client and all other atheists have no such holiday!"
The judge leaned forward in his chair and simply said "Obviously your client is too confused to know about, or for that matter, even celebrate the atheists' holiday!"
The ACLU lawyer pompously said "We are aware of no such holiday for atheists, just when might that be, your honor?"
The judge said "Well it comes every year on exactly the same date---April 1st!"
Psalms:14:1: The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.

Great job on HUCKABEE tonight, Governor.
I loved how you confronted Ann Coulter about some of the mis-statements she made about you.
When you shook hands at the end and she thanked you for having her on, I felt that you had made a real friend.
Ann Coulter is a good one to have on your side, so thanks for clearing up some of the misconceptions!
Great job! That was awesome!

Jan: I may be wrong but I thought that when you enter your name on the CAPTCHA entry form, they post whatever you enter.
If that's not true, then they may recognize the name you signed up under and post whatever is attached to your email address.
The simplest way to change your name is to simply click on MY HUCKPAC and login and go to DASHBOARD and PROFILE and change it yourself.
From then on, every post attached to that login email address on the whole website will change, but you must go to MY HUCKPAC and login there.
You can tell Chris to change how your name posts, but they probably post automatically and Chris probably doesn't have time to change every post all 5,000 to 10,000 or 50,000 of us enter.
I've already given you exact instructions on how to login as a HuckPAC Ranger and change you own name on a previous post.
I've tested this theory, and I can verify that it works because I've changed my name from DEBORAH WITH JANET HUCKABEE to DEBORAH FROM DAYTON, OH and all my logged in posts changed (except when I logged in under the CAPTCHA page -- that will stay the same because you may have entered under 5 different names at different times and those won't change).
Not trying to be preachy. Just explaining how the website works to save Chris Miaorina some of his very valuable time!
This website isn't all that hard to operate and work with. Almost every website requires a login. You just either have to write down your passwords to all the websites you go on, or download a website browser that keeps them for you like CHROME and then you can click, click, click, click and you're in! I heard about the Chrome Browser because radio talk show host Clark Howard was talking about it.
I don't know if Chris is employed full-time by Gov. Huckabee or if this is a part-time endeavor for him to update the HuckPAC website.
I'm sure if we all donated $25 per month, or even $5 a week, it would greatly help keep the website going and help assist Gov. Huckabee is cheerleading and electing conservative governors and mayors in 2009!
If you're not already a HuckPAC Ranger and you would like to contribute to HuckPAC, please feel free to click here to donate:

Blessings to all!

Ha, Ha Deborah;
I think Hank Hill would make a better head Head of Treasury than Hank Paulson.
I would also like to let everyone know that Colin Powell's words of encouragement have awakened the "volunteer within me." I think on January 19th I'm going to go volunteer at my local crisis pregnancy center. Maybe Obama and Powell would like to join me?
If Obama wants to use our tax dollars to pay for abortions, than maybe the millions of citizens who oppose the practice should stop paying taxes--and if they try to penalize us, than maybe we should march straight down to the IRS and let them know exactly how we feel.
Okay, now I'm taking a break--I had to respond to that. Goodnight.

So it seems that their is clearly a distinction between what is acceptable discussion for the President Elect (economy) and what isn't (national security.) This makes sense considering the highly sensitive nature of the issue. Interestingly enough, the current administration has also had few words over the Gaza situation (though I'm sure a lot is going on behind the scenes.) It appears that they are keeping a low profile on this one, for the most part silently letting Israel accomplish their task. (Though a few positve words in Israel's defense on Obama's part wouldn't hurt anything.)
I'm rather young, and don't have as wide of a knowledge of history as some, but I can't seem to recall a time when the President Elect took such a position of prominence. It appears that our leaders think that a continual presence is what's needed in or der to soothe concerns over the economy, which is what the people have pinned their hopes on in the election of Barack Obama.
I recall one man came into my work one day while Obama was at the tail end of making a speech right after he was elected. His eyes got real round and he excitedly asked: "What did he say about the economy?" As if he had a magic wand that would fix everything with one smooth swipe.
One thing is for sure in T-minus 11 days and Barack Obama will be more than the Economic President of the United States. He will be the Economic and National Security President--lets hope that he's ready for the task.
Sanja Gupta and Panetta. Flabergasting. Maybe we can appoint Richard Gere as head of the treasury, after all, he played a wealthy man in Pretty Woman. Hopefully one day the people will realize that their is a difference between running a campaign (appearance) and running a nation (ability.) Lets hope he makes more responsible decisions in the future.
I'm off the soapbox for now, and I'm taking another break.

Dear Jan, I understand where you're coming from, but I'm a homeschool Mom too and Janet Folger Porter has been traveling with Janet Huckabee.
Janet Folger has been trying to stand up for the Constitution and Christian principles when no one else will.
Janet Parshall is another one (Janet Parshall's America and Silencing the Christians websites) and I salute her efforts to keep Christians on the frontlines of presenting truth.
My best friend is a Christian and lives on Social Security and adores the Clintons and the Obamas, and believes they are Christians.
If Christians can't stand up for godly principles now, how will they when President Obama or some other president starts persecuting Christians?
What will we do when the government starts fining doctors who won't perform abortions?
I suggest subscribing to Focus on the Family's Citizenlink magazine to find out how Christians can get involved in protecting our nation's freedoms.
If Christians think this is too much, what will they do if the next presidency brings us into the Great Tribulation?
We can bury our heads in the sand and hope we still have a country in 4 years.
We can bury our heads in the sand and hope we don't have a socialist government and economy in 4 years.
We can bury our heads in the sand and hope we don't have a national stateside civilian police force led by college age students.
Pastor Rod Parsley of World Harvest Church wrote a book called, "Silent No More." The church can no longer remain silent. We must stand up for the Constitution and godly principles or we will have no more America.
The only way I sleep at night is because I've read every book in Tim LaHaye and Jerry Jenkins "Left Behind" series and I know God will be with us no matter what.
I know God is protecting me and that angels are with me keeping me safe. I know that I have divine protection.
Tell anyone who can't sleep at night to read Psalm 91 every night before they go to bed -- the whole chapter. That puts me right to sleep for a good nights rest every night. :)

Hi all,
Here is a link to sign a petition indicating a desire to fight the "Freedom of Choice Act" which, if passed, may drastically increase the numbers of abortions.

Actually, I DO believe in the John Adams quote. Ironically, we have been renting and watching his series. I am a home-schooler, but may have to get back into the workforce next year, as we will have our first one headed to college.
I understand your desire to fight for the constiution, and support it. I was indicating that I wasn't sure this was the best forum to do so. Many here already agree with you. Since this specific blog is about volunteering for Gov Huckabee, newcomers will, understandably, expect many of the posts to be about that subject. With having just extended an inviation to 65 friends to join
Huckpac, I don't want them to think that by joining Huckpac, they are joining forces on the COLB issue. I hope you understand that
I am not against the COLB issue, I am just not wanting to scare away new Huckabee supporters.Keep up the good fight~Scripture tells us to perservere and be overcomers!

Deborah or Bradford?
I'm happy that you brought the civilian military force up. I think about it every day. The thought of this has been troubling to me, as I'm sure it has been to most clear thinking citizens. Notice he only mentioned this a couple times during the campaign and then suddenly fell silent on this issue. So now local police forces, the national guard, and the FBI isn't enough?
The election is over, and crying over spilled milk will do nothing to change things, but I still think that the American people deserve a little clarification on this issue, which I find to be quite startling.
On a somewhat similar subject, Lou Dobbs (the only good thing about CNN) had a report (now listed on youtube) about the military training 20,000 combat proven troops for civilian use in the advent of an economic collapse. Just go on you tube and type in "Lou Dobbs Martial Law" and you can see the report. If this happens, it will be during the current administration.

I am going to do what I do best: pretend that I am an expert and give the Huckpac community a little advice.
One of Huckpac's candidates, Bill CASSIDY, won in the contest for CONGRESS (where is my brain?) this past go-around in my home state of Louisiana. If you recall, Cazayoux was attempting to move further to the right as a pro-life, pro-second ammendment candidate.
This is similar what McCain was trying to do in the election, by trying to appeal to moderates and liberal leaning candiates. Of course, we all know that McCain and Cazayoux both lost, because they were running against candidates who were the embodiment of what they were supposedly representing, with their lukewarm stance on key issues alienating their bases.
WE NEED TO FIND OUT HOW CASSIDY AND ALL THE OTHER SOCIAL CONSERVATIVES WON THIS GO-AROUND (BESIDES BEING THEMSELVES) I.E. POLITICAL STRATEGY, AND APPLY THESE STRATEGIES ON A NATIONAL LEVEL. These people won highly contested seats in a bad political climate for conservatives, and their victories should serve as models for future campaigns.

Jan Burlingame,
I think what several other posters along with myself (all of us born again Christians) are concerned about is what John Adams so aptly said, "But a Constitution of Government once changed from Freedom, can never be restored. Liberty once lost is lost forever."
http://www.believersstandunited.com/
Believers should never feel ashamed or afraid to stand up for their values. Not doing so is what has gotten us into this sorry mess that our country is in with Christians being persecuted right and left in our schools, our communities and in the courtroom.
We only have a few more days to send letters to the Supreme Court of the United States to request such a simple request as a copy of a $10 birth certificate which the Obama campaign has spent $2 or 3 million to hide.
Hillary Clinton does know the truth, but she and Obama apparently struck some kind of deal when she dropped out of the race so that she could be Secretary of State (if she even qualifies).
The whole problem with the Gov. Blago Burris appointment to take Sen. Obama's senate seat shows pure hubris on the part of the Democrats. Now Nancy Pelosi is changing the rules in the Senate to block Republicans from having almost any say in how things operate behind the Democrat's small committee meeting closed doors.
I am really excited that Ann Coulter has the Badge of Honor of getting kicked off of the NBC network (albeit temporarily because the people protested much!) and am grateful that at least someone is telling it like it is -- that the Democrats want us all to live in a nanny state, acting like little children, letting them lead us around by the hands, dividing our families and causing divorces right and left by their propaganda principles they sneak into our little children's minds in Kindergarten (homosexual movies).
I would think that the newbies would be really excited about speaking up! By the way, I went to my first local FairTax meeting last night and met lots of wonderful Ohio people who have already met Gov. Huckabee! They all love him, and of course we had a great time getting ready to present a FairTax power point presentation!
Go, HuckPAC, Rangers, Go! Never give up! Never give in! Never back down! Onward and forward is our battle cry!
I'm telling ya, the Ohio FairTaxers are Fired Up and Ready to Rock N Roll!

I am going to do what I do best: pretend that I am an expert and give the Huckpac community a little advice.
One of Huckpac's candidates in my home state, Bill Kennedy, won in the contest for Senate this past go-around in my home state of Louisiana. If you recall, Cazoux was attempting to move further to the right as a pro-life, pro-second ammendment candidate.
This is similar what McCain was trying to do in the election, by trying to appeal to moderates and liberal leaning candiates. P.S. I have five New Years resolutions:
1. Complain a little less.
2. Be less argumentative.
3. Be more forgiving.
4. Stop emailing and calling news
organizations and giving them my
opinions.
5. Stop singing show tunes in public. -

In effect, I am basically hoping that the media (and citizens in general) do not give the current administration too much of a pass in regard to their current policies. If the people wouldn't wouldn't have stood up and protested the McCain/Kennedy amnesty bill, than we would have amnesty this very moment.
So it seems that dissent is appropriate in certain situations. If enough people stood up and protested over the current appointment of the CIA chief, than we may see a different outcome. Then again, I just may like to complain.
