Hello From The Road

We are on stop number 43 of 57 cities that we’ll be in during the tour for “Do the Right Thing.” I especially appreciate the many of you I’ve met along the way---I’ve actually been able to put a name and face to some “blog names” as I’ve traveled across the country.

Great news is that the book hit # 5 on the NY Times Bestseller list in its first week, and has now moved up to the #4 slot in the second week. The message of how to rebuild the party and the conservative movement is getting through and gaining traction. I especially appreciate those of you who have read the book and given your reviews here on the website and hope you will continue. I enjoy reading the reviews and take to heart the constructive criticism as well as the kind words.

My Fox News show “Huckabee” will be coming from Columbia, SC this weekend at one of our book signings---we’ll be taping the show that afternoon from the Columbia signing at the Books a Million at the Harbison Shopping Center. For a full list of the stops on the book tour, check out the list here on the website. I’ll be on O’Reilly Friday night and Fox and Friends on Saturday morning as well.

If we don’t get to you on the tour, you can always get the book at your local bookstore or at amazon.com or other online services.

Thursday night in Lynchburg, VA, the line at the bookstore stretched out the store door and a block down the street. The good news is that once we start, it moves very quickly as we try to keep people moving so as not to make the wait any longer and the limited time we have at each stop due to the rigid schedule.

One of the real blessings is meeting some people I haven’t seen since the campaign. Remember the wonderful story of the lady who gave the ring for the campaign in Birch Run, Michigan? We have searched for her for almost a year. Thanks to good detective work from some of our supporters in Iowa and in Michigan, we found her, I visited with her the other day, and she will be a guest on “Huckabee” next week when we’re back in New York.

My Fair Tax friends have been at every stop. It’s so encouraging to see the growing number of people who realize that with the Fair Tax, we don’t need bailouts. The book helps explain the WHY of the Fair Tax and I’m more committed than ever to helping Americans understand how we can change our economy to work for us instead of against us.

I want to thank all of you for the terrific efforts to help Senator Saxby Chambliss win reelection. HuckPAC volunteers made THOUSANDS of calls, donated funds, traveled to Georgia to volunteer, and I believe made a real difference. A great win for America.

I hope to see you either in person or by way of television soon. Pray for the stamina of our team---if you look at the map and the schedule, you’ll know why!

God bless and Merry Christmas!

Mike Huckabee

    Deborah -

I fully agree with you that by all means, protecting the integrity of our Constitution should be any American's most basic act of patriotism. I also respect all the research you've done on this matter of "natural born" citizenship. I simply believe that 3 lawsuits regarding the same issue of Obama's citizenship goes beyond mere "protection" of the constitution, but appears to foster my view that it's about creating media attention, speaking engagements, etc. - just a bit of an overkill on the subject. Deborah, you are far more trusting of these people's real motives than I am. I simply don't believe that the illinois governor is the only one out to make a quick buck.

Secondly, if we are to set a standard of authenticating birth certificates by a particular set of standards, then we need to have a law applied to ALL presidential candidates before they can file for that office, otherwise it will be "prejudicial" in legal parlance.

Thirdly, there has been no credible evidence produced in any of these lawsuits that I've read, just conjecture and speculation at best. We still live in a country where a person does not have to produce evidence of their innocence, but rather the burden of PROOF falls on those making the accusations. This is most precious in our system of justice. If we allow any other approach, then you can expect every presidential candidate to prove that their birth certificate is not a forgery according to a parisian elected Secretary of State - a very dangerous precedent indeed, unless you wish to destroy any integrity of what's left of our political system.

I firmly believe that many UFO enthusiasts are very sincere about their obsession. i just wish they'd stay out of court because all they do is create a diversion from many of the more important issues of Americans and minimize their own credibility among the general public.

Will Republicans find rallying point in bailout debate?

Excellent read about how OUR man Mike was right all along!!!

    http://www.usatoday.com/news/opinion/columnist/raasch/2008-12-11-raasch-column-12112008_N.htm

“In the debate, former Tennessee Sen. Fred Thompson, fairly fresh to the campaign trail, said, "There is no reason to believe that we're headed for a recession." Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney said Michigan was undergoing a "one-state recession" while "the rest of the country is growing and seeing low levels of unemployment." Ex-New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani primarily paid homage to the free market as a "wonderful thing."

“In the Dearborn debate, former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, who three months later won the Iowa caucuses, turned out to be the most prescient."

"I want to make sure people understand that for many people on this stage the economy is doing terrifically well, but for a lot of Americans it's not doing so well," Huckabee said. "The people who handle the bags and make the beds at our hotels and serve the food, many of them are having to work two jobs. And that's barely paying the rent."
But Huckabee did not have the money to sustain a long campaign, and his economic message often was overwhelmed by a false assumption that he was the candidate of the religious right."

"Huckabee, who is promoting a new book, Do the Right Thing, says he feels "somewhat vindicated" for what he said in Dearborn that night. He also says he believes McCain could have beaten Obama had McCain opposed the bailout."

    11. pliable; impressionable

Thankfully, there are still several cases before the Supreme Court, so we have not heard the last word on this matter yet.

I think we'll find out a lot more about Obama's foreign donors from known U.S. enemies, Chicago corruption, and who knows what all else will be uncovered.

I just got this email from my Senator from Florida.
    Dear Mr. Roper:

Thank you for contacting me regarding President-Elect Obama's citizenship. I appreciate hearing from you and would like to respond to your concerns.

Like you, I believe that our federal government has the responsibility to make certain that the Constitution of the United States is not compromised. We must fight to uphold our Constitution through our courts and political processes.

Article II of the Constitution provides that "no Person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President." The Constitution, however, does not specify how that qualification for office is to be enforced. As you may know, a voter recently raised this issue before a federal court in Pennsylvania. On October 24, 2008, the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania released an order in the case of Berg v.Obama.In that case, the plaintiff, Phillip Berg, raised the same issue that your letter raises regarding proof of the President-Elect's birthplace. Through his lawsuit, Mr. Berg sought to compel President-Elect Obama to produce a certified copy of his birth certificate.

The District Court dismissed Mr. Berg's suit and held that the question of Obama's citizenship is not a matter for a court to decide. The court further noted that voters, not courts, should decide whether a particular presidential candidate is qualified to hold office.

Presidential candidates are vetted by voters at least twice - first in the primary elections and again in the general election. President-Elect Obama won the Democratic Party's nomination after one of the most fiercely contested presidential primaries in American history. And, he has now been duly elected by the majority of voters in the United States. Throughout both the primary and general election, concerns about Mr. Obama's birthplace were raised. The voters have made clear their view that Mr. Obama meets the qualifications to hold the office of President.

After he is sworn into office, Mr. Obama will be our nation's President and I intend to bestow upon him the honor and respect due any man who holds that Office. Yet, I am certain that there will be times when I will disagree and oppose President Obama's policies. When that happens, you can be assured that I will pursue vigorously what I believe to be in the best interest of Florida and the nation.

I thank you for sharing your views with me and will keep your concerns in mind. If you have additional questions or comments, please contact me. For more information about issues and activities important to Florida, please sign up for my weekly newsletter at http://martinez.senate.gov.

    Sincerely,

    Mel Martinez

David to Deborah: I completely agree with Ben. The time to have challenged the President-elect was before he won the election.

Deborah's Response: All 3 or 4 challenges were filed before the election was won and are working their way through the courts.

David to Deborah: If Schwarzenegger was foolish enough to run in 2012, he would be challenged immediately, and not survive the first primary.

Deborah's Response: That depends upon how far the natural born citizenship issue is stretched in this case and what the forensic experts decide when they examine Obama's birth certificate.

David to Deborah: In any event, the Supreme Court has apparently agreed to hear the case, so neither side needs to lobby on this website any longer.

Deborah's Response: You are missing the point, Doc. Deborah is lobbying for the Constitution, not for the outcome of the election.

David to Deborah: PS If I were a betting man, I would give you 100:1 odds on the outcome

Deborah's Response: The outcome is not as important as the process. That was the whole point of Gov. Huckabee's book, "Do the Right Thing."

Integrity of the process is always more important than the actual outcome. We can live with the outcome only if we know the process was fair.

Thank you, Governor Huckabee, for standing up for integrity! You are one of the few upholding our Constitution, and we applaud you for doing that!

When Presidential Candidate (former U.S. ambassador) Alan Keyes filed a lawsuit in California to challenge Barack Obama's natural born citizenship, he was trying to uphold the intent of our Founding Fathers in our U.S. Constitution.

I hardly see how the words "conspiracy theory, frivolous lawsuit, whack job, or UFO sighting" have any relevancy to this very serious discussion.

    ******* ******* ******* ******* *******

Update on Obama’s Presidential Eligibility Challenge

Apparently, if Obama was born in Hawaii, it doesn’t matter if he lived his whole life in another country as long as he didn’t pledge an oath of allegiance to that country or join another country’s military. He would still retain his natural born citizenship.

    1) Supreme Court rejects Leo Donofrio’s challenge to Barack Obama’s eligibility

    2) Philip J. Berg’s challenge still remains with the Supreme Court

    3) Alan Keyes’ CA challenge hasn’t made it’s way to the Supreme Court yet

However, Obama must allow the Hawaii Secretary of State, and now forensic experts, to review his original birth certificate to see the doctor’s signature and address of parents at the time of birth and the name and address of the hospital where he was born. They will need to see if that doctor was a resident doctor of that hospital at the time that Obama was born.

The only stickler might be one section of Title 8 of the U.S. Code which states, “Any one born outside the United States, if one parent is an alien and as long as the other parent is a citizen of the U.S. who lived in the U.S. for at least five years (with military and diplomatic service included in this time).”

Our U.S. laws are very broad, and probably not what our Founding Fathers intended. We probably should not allow natural born citizenship to children unless BOTH parents are natural born citizens. That type of law would have prevented this Constitutional fiasco that we have before us now.

Court: No review of Obama's eligibility to serve
    http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20081208/ap_on_go_su_co/scotus_obama

Hawaii officials have confirmed that Obama’s birth certificate has a raised seal and they have the address of Obama’s parents in Hawaii at the time of birth. This has not been verified by the Hawaii Secretary of State.

“The nonpartisan Web site Factcheck.org examined the original document and said it does have a raised seal and the usual evidence of a genuine document. In addition, Factcheck.org reproduced an announcement of Obama's birth, including his parents' address in Honolulu, that was published in the Honolulu Advertiser on Aug. 13, 1961,” according to Yahoo News.

    Constitutional Topic: Citizenship
    http://www.usconstitution.net/consttop_citi.html

Currently, Title 8 of the U.S. Code fills in those gaps. Section 1401 defines the following as people who are "citizens of the United States at birth:"

•Anyone born inside the United States
•Any Indian or Eskimo born in the United States, provided being a citizen of the U.S. does not impair the person's status as a citizen of the tribe
•Any one born outside the United States, both of whose parents are citizens of the U.S., as long as one parent has lived in the U.S.
•Any one born outside the United States, if one parent is a citizen and lived in the U.S. for at least one year and the other parent is a U.S. national
•Any one born in a U.S. possession, if one parent is a citizen and lived in the U.S. for at least one year
•Any one found in the U.S. under the age of five, whose parentage cannot be determined, as long as proof of non-citizenship is not provided by age 21
•Any one born outside the United States, if one parent is an alien and as long as the other parent is a citizen of the U.S. who lived in the U.S. for at least five years (with military and diplomatic service included in this time)
•A final, historical condition: a person born before 5/24/1934 of an alien father and a U.S. citizen mother who has lived in the U.S.
Just for Fun, here’s an interesting article on Dual Citizenship by Rich Wales who claims to have dual citizenship in both the United States and Canada (not that this has any bearing on the presidential discussion but it is interesting):

It would seem to me that the best approach for the buyout would have been to include it on the presidential ballot and allow the people to vote on it. While most of us are uneducated on economic issues, (I know I am) it would have put the choice in the people's hands and would have taken some of the pressure off of the government if the bailout was to fail because the people would have had a hand in the decision and would have to carry some responsibility come hell or high water.

The opposing argument would of course be that such a momumental and complex decision could not be placed in the hands of people, but in the few who had the intelligence and capabilities to handle the problem--but I'm sure our country's founders would have some opinions when it comes to trillions of our tax dollars. They had some choice quotes in regard to what the people's tax dollars could and couldn't be used for, but that is a topic for another day and time. As it is the government will shoulder all of the blame. I can't wait to see how this plays out. Then again maybe the sky won't fall. If it does, prepare for crime to reach unprecedented levels.

Back to fiction writing for me--sometimes an escape from reality is good thing--especially for those with blood pressure through the roof.

  • Goff, Steve

    12/09/2008 01:58 AM

If that's true then it settles it in my mind. This is the first time I have heard "specifics" in regard to proof. I thought that the Supreme Court had already agreed to hear the case, but it appears I was mistaken--the only thing that gets me is the fact that it took so long to clear up the issue. I held my tongue for the longest time because I was unsure of the proof--I may have loosened it a little too much on this session. My debate was structured from the "what if" scenario, ("what if green hair grows on my chest")though I wouldn't have doubted if it was true, especially considering the wacky nature of all things Obama--I'd believe almost anything at this point.

    Ben,

Dumpster diving, ha, ha--I actually found out what this was two years ago--unfortunatley, this a common past time in some of the surrounding towns in my area--they also sell "pet rats" in the pet shops.

You referred to Romney as a plastic candidate a while back. Is it the hair, the suit, the personality, or the perfect quantitive mixture of all three which constitutes his "plasticity?"

To DEBORAH and other conspiracy theorists, please read today's AP report, here is an extract:

"At least one other appeal over Obama's citizenship remains at the court. Philip J. Berg of Lafayette Hill, Pa., argues that Obama was born in Kenya, not Hawaii as Obama says and Hawaii officials have confirmed."

"Berg says Obama also may be a citizen of Indonesia, where he lived as a boy. Federal courts in Pennsylvania have dismissed Berg's lawsuit. Federal courts in Ohio and Washington state have rejected similar lawsuits."

"Allegations raised on the Internet say the birth certificate, showing that Obama was born in Hawaii on Aug. 4, 1961, is a fake.
But Hawaii Health Department Director Dr. Chiyome Fukino and the state's registrar of vital statistics, Alvin Onaka, say they checked health department records and have determined there's no doubt Obama was born in Hawaii."

"The nonpartisan Web site Factcheck.org examined the original document and said it does have a raised seal and the usual evidence of a genuine document.
In addition, Factcheck.org reproduced an announcement of Obama's birth, including his parents' address in Honolulu, that was published in the Honolulu Advertiser on Aug. 13, 1961."

If a court ever does decide to hear this case, it will undoubtedly be dismissed for lack of any credible evidence and should summon sanctions from the court for filing such a frivolous lawsuit to encourage other whack cases to keep their energies instead focused on UFO sightings!

Dan, Nick is right. Read the Bible every day. It will take awhile to read it through, but test everything against the Word.
Young Christians are often led astray by cults because they don't read the Bible, but rather depend on others to tell them what they should believe. Determine to know what you believe and why you believe it.

thanks to everyone who commented nicely on my post. i am starting to notice a real shift into "Christ's Corner." People are making their choice right now whether to live in a life of desire and temptation (Satan's Corner) or take the Righteous side which will end in the Kingdom of Heaven. I read the book of Genesis and I think I can shed some real insight about the real meaning of the story. You see being on earth, means we are tempted by "earthly or fleshy desires." The forbidden fruit is the earthly temptation, and being a serpent represents being a slave to those desires and temptations. You see we were made with feet so that we could stand above the earthly temptations that bring us down (metaphorically of course). If you are a snake, you are stuck with your belly to the earth (attached) (the ground symbolizing the attachment to desires of the flesh of course). When we sin, we get closer to the ground, closer to Hell really. We "burn" in our "desires" and forget about the creator's wishes. Forgiveness can lift us up again and give us another chance to get back on our feet and above the carnal desires of man. Anyway, I know I'm not immune from sin and i know i will need continual forgiveness. But in the end, I think I will completely conquer earthly desires and live just like Jesus did. It definitely won't be easy, but I know I will have someone there every step of the way feeling the struggles I feel and continuing to give me encouragement when I fall.

When it comes to finding gleaming pieces of "trash" Hillary's dumpster divers are the best in the industry--unless the truth was suppressed well enough to slip their scavengeing until after the time she was removed and/or she didn't wan't to try to disqualify such a popular candidate by a "technicality." Then again, the claims may have no validity at all.

The news just reported that the case has been dismissed by the Supreme Court without even hearing it. That tells me that their is either no validity to the claims or the Courts don't wan't to touch it with a ten foot pole. Either scenario is likely.

    Excellent!

Now never stop reading your Bible. There will be so many out there who will want to turn you from the written Word of God. In thinking that they are helping you they will encourage you in many, many things that seem great on the surface but when compared carefully to scripture are found to be half truths that will lead you away from the mark. (Many do this unknowingly.)
Trust in the Bible as the total authority. If you read, read, and read some more, when these half truths come to you all painted up nice with great testimony, you will be able to see what is true and what is the devil. Remember that when the devil deceived Eve, he used a half truth. He slightly altered the Word of God. Keep your compass true and you will arrive at your destination.

May God keep you safe under his Awsome wings.

George Irwin: I have done a little research on the Fair Tax relevant to your concern that it would transfer the tax burden to the middle class. It turns out that the Fair Tax eliminates not only the income tax, but also the payroll tax. The payroll tax, which is about 7.5% of salary, funds both Social Security and Medicare. Many upper class Americans pay no payroll taxes because they live off their capital gains, which are taxed at a lower rate than income taxes. With the Fair Tax, the upper classes would also be required to pay an equal share of Social Security and Medicare funding.

As I have said before, the whole truth is not evident from any single set of facts, but it seems that this payroll tax issue should be a significant factor in deciding whether or not the Fair Tax would be good for our economy.

His second father, had to run back to his country because they re-called all students back to Indonesia.

quote from Ben: What Mike Huckabee is combating is a relentless effort by the press to define him as a solely religious figure so that no one except the very devout will support him. We are playing into their hands if we expect him to accept without protest every attempt to define him in this way.

Ben, I agree with you 100% here. The media did a "job" on the American people this last election by ALWAYS crediting Governor Huckabee's popularity to "evangelicals" when this just wasn't true. In doing that they were polarizing his candidacy. In fact, he probably was the ONE Republican candidate who could have brought over more democrats and independents than anyone running. But, for some, the media is the "gospel". Governor Huckabee needs to "break out" of that box they put him in if he is going to win (WHEN he wins) in 2012! Gov. Huckabee, thanks for playing that infamous clip of Harry Reid calling American tourists to the Capitol "stinkers."

This YouTube video should be shown on every media outlet in America. How arrogant!

Thank you, Governor, for reminding us who "The Boss" really is! I love your story of putting up photos of citizens in your Governor's office.

The only reason that I am mentioning this is because the Supreme Court is looking into the issue (Bama's citizenship--then again he is a "citizen of the world" so wouldn't that qualify him regardless?) I hate to do the what if scenario, but if Obama was indeed born in another country, than isn't there a possibility that the certificate he produced was a forgery? I believe that would be a crime, especially for the highest ranking office in the land.

    Patrick Yanello-

I have listened to or read practically every word Mike Huckabee has said publicly since September 2007. I have heard him affirm his Christian faith and the importance of religion literally hundreds of times. I have also heard him repeatedly stress how people of faith are tired of being ignored and marginalized by the elites. Just yesterday he had a segment on the persecution of our Iraqi Christians on his show. No other prominent political leader will even discuss this.

What Mike Huckabee is combating is a relentless effort by the press to define him as a solely religious figure so that no one except the very devout will support him. We are playing into their hands if we expect him to accept without protest every attempt to define him in this way.

    Deborah:

This scenario could actually result in the constitution being ammended in regard to citizenship standards if the right people look at it hard enough--especially with the significant number of people who voted for Obama, and who quite frankly, wouldn't care if he would have arrived from a foreign country yesterday.

Nice to see all of you again.

I'm not a constitutional expert, but if Obama is deemed inelgible, then he should be removed as soon as possible, not just because he violated the constitutional standards by running for the presididency, but primarly due to the fact that he purposely decieved the entire nation by knowingly hiding the fact. Nothing is more un-patriot than that. Of course IF is a big word.

I don't believe that this will happen, not because of difficulty stating what the constituion says--if we were unclear of that then Swarzenneger wouldn't have been disqualified for the presidency--though I do see the point--even if Obama was born outside of the country his mother was still a citizen--I don't know for sure if their are any stipulations that in this scenario that would deem Obama unqualified, so the scenario is interesting.

He won't be removed because of the masses that put him into power, and the ensuing rage that the move would provoke. You also have to keep in mind that he is the first black President of United States, and because of this he represents a historical milestone. Because of this I believe that Obama is will be held to a different standard and will be almost un-impeachable. (Don't you need to have approval of congress to impeach?) I don't know how a removal in regard to disqualification by birth would play out--I don't think it's ever been attempted before. The conspiracy scenario would be a huge factor if we removed the first black president, and racial tentions would be flamed to maxium intensity. The masses would be enraged, and who knows what would happen--as of now it is out of our hands--unless we want assemble in mass numbers and march to capital hill, but maybe we should look over the fine lines and see if the constitution was violated. I'm not an expert so I do not know. Our government and the GOP dropped the ball on this one, as already said, it should have been done early in the game. Too bad it was covered up until the very end.

I don't think there is anything wrong with voicing our concerns--let people think what they want of us--their opinions are of no consequence to us. If the constitution was violated than justice should be served, especially in a case where clear deception was used.

I hope Mike hears what I said and adjusts his response to assure all voters who supported him in the primaries. I need to hear from him, not anyone of his supporters. No need for him to be partial towards the irreligious and disavow the religious all at the same time, repetitively.

Patrick Yanello12/06 10:29 pm: You are indeed part of the public. But the public includes a smaller group of Huckabee supporters who don't need to be reassured, and a larger group who is either afraid of him or unfamiliar with him. It is to that second group that I was referring.

    Dan,

Praise the Lord!!!!!! I accepted Christ 23 years ago and I've never been sorry. That's when LIFE began for me. Before that I only existed. I don't even know that person I was for the first 29 years of my life. Thank God she died and I became a new creature.

I was officially saved by my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ this past Monday. I had never felt so guarded in my life; I could feel his warmth (power) a good 3 inches away from the back of my head and it felt like he was holding my head from that distance with his hands. Unbelievable feeling. Now, more than ever, I want to make a commitment to live as Christ did in body form. I want to be Courageous, Humble, Righteous, Inspirational, Self-committed, and Trustworthy. God was always just a belief until last Monday, now I know he is real and no argument will ever be able to convince me otherwise.

Deborah: I completely agree with Ben. The time to have challenged the President-elect was before he won the election. If Schwarzenegger was foolish enough to run in 2012, he would be challenged immediately, and not survive the first primary. In any event, the Supreme Court has apparently agreed to hear the case, so neither side needs to lobby on this website any longer.

PS If I were a betting man, I would give you 100:1 odds on the outcome!

Please come back to South Carolina soon! I was planning on seeing you in Columbia on Saturday but my 2 year old son got sick. That was about the only thing that could have kept me away. I was at least able to watch your show on FOX last night. Even though I was unable to get a signed copy I am hoping Santa at least gets me a regular copy.
I am sure you saw how popular you are in this state the last few days. It drives me crazy seeing all of the bad news about bailouts and our bad economy everyday. Had you been elected this country would already have started its healing process knowing that REAL change - the FairTax - was right around the corner. Hopefully by 2012 more Americans will come to realize this. I am confident a large majority of people here in The Palmetto State will be behind you. Hope to see you here again soon.

Governor Huckabee, I was so glad to be able to attend the taping of your show (and the book signing) yesterday in Columbia, SC. This will be the first time in 3 years we are not going to get to go to NY in January and I was mainly disappointed because I really wanted to attend your show. So, even better, we got to attend without the NY weather!!! Mundina, it was so great to finally meet you!! And my new Huckafriend Marline!! Whenever I attend an event of Huckabee supporters I feel as if "Hucktown" really does exist and THESE are the very good people who live there!! The crowd was big, the show was fabulous, the enthusiasm for Governor Huckabee was great and the people were wonderful!! And I got my THIRD copy of Governor Huckabee's book signed.....

NoDirtyDiapers: I entirely agree with you in regard to the bailouts. However, the right way to get Mike Huckabee in the White House is to elect him in some future election. Obama won 53% of the vote and has a very high approval rating. Any attempt to remove him would be extremely unpopular and would saddle his successor with accusations of conspiracy and usurpation that would make it impossible to govern. Besides, the way the system works there is no way Mike Huckabee would become president even if Obama and McCain were disqualified. And as Deborah explained, McCain is clearly qualified by birth.

Deborah: The problem is that no one can agree on what “natural born” means. The Constitution does not clearly address all the “what ifs.” Those such as yourself who are pushing this issue always represent the controversy as a sacred fight to “save our Constitution,” but you are really hoping that the Constitution can somehow save us from Obama. This hope depends on a particular interpretation of “natural born,” but that is something you impose upon the Constitution, not something you derive from it. Besides, there are a dozen other ways in which the Constitution is clearly and brazenly being broken (e.g. the responsibility of Congress to declare war, the use of Presidential signing statements to put the President above the law, the Fed, the failure to enforce existing laws on immigration, etc.). I don't hear you complaining daily about these abuses. The main reason to drop the whole argument, however, is that it will not work and is a waste of time. You criticized supporters of third-party candidates for wasting their votes but now you are wasting your efforts on something that is even less likely to succeed. Besides, continuing to promote this issue makes us look like cranks and sore losers who want to overturn the will of the people on a technicality. I know that is not your motivation, but it really is time to acknowledge that this round is over and start gearing up for the next round.

Andrew Patton: My attitude toward the President is a form of charity. If I don't attribute his recent horrible decisions to ineptitude, I have to conclude that he is intentionally working against the interests of the country, which I do not believe. But it makes me physically ill when people compare either Bush or Palin to Mike Huckabee. Bush was an admitted alcoholic until age 40, at which age Huckabee was already governor of Arkansas. Huckabee ran a radio show in his teens, graduated from a four-year program in 2 1/2 years with straight A’s, and went on to one achievement after another. Throughout a brutal presidential primary, he repeatedly and eloquently answered the same type of questions that made Palin look like a fool in the general election. Gotcha questions can only get you if you don't know your stuff. While Huckabee came triumphantly through the crucible, Palin wilted at the first rays of dawn. That is why the media wants her, not him, to be the face of the conservative movement that they despise.

In addition to the Fair Tax, I think that a proposal concerning Federal spending recommends itself: perhaps a new congressional rule (and possible Constitutional Amendment) be made whereby all Federal spending bills, all state spending mandated by the Federal Government, and any borrowing for financing an annual budget deficit, need a 3/4 approval of both houses of congress to pass.

    $17,000,000,000
Somebody pinch me and wake me up!!

OK, looks like we are go give the big three $17,000,000,000 and it will only help them for a few months, so really this means this goes down the toilet, what does this 17 billion do, Nothing! the workers will still be making less cars, the part suppliers will still have no work, no work means less spending, no spending means no one buying cars. I DOES NOTHING!!!
I watched the meeting with the big 3 the other day and it was brought up that the suppers would need help too???????????COME ON!!!! You don't Say.

At a whole sale price of $15,000, $17,000,000,000 would buy 1,133,333 cars. If we wanted to get the most help out of a buck then I truly think that buy buying cars instead would help the workers and the whole supply chain all the way down and put the brakes on the falling Economy.
It would be a Work Out instead of a bail out. But I say it would need conditions on it to where they would need to get all there people together and agree on a leaner operation, also require that most all the parts for the cars be made in America and they also be fuel efficient.

In what to do with all the cars ether use them to replace some of our older gas guzzling Government fleet and sale the replaced ones to recover some of the cost.
Or since these new cars was bought wholesale from the factory this helps every one except the retail car lots so another idea would be to put a logo on the new cars like American Pride or something that would make them a collectors item and then sale them directly to the retail lots at a reduced price of 10% to 20% off so the cars would be more affordable during this economy slow down and plus the banks would loan money on a deal like this, so really it kicks the banks in the butt to start lending again, Unseazing our lending.
It don't matter what our Gov. does we going to lose money what ever they do, so all I did was spell out ways of losing the lest but also at the same time having a positive effect on our economy all the way down to us. So with helping them with a bail out and if one of these big three fail we lose at lest 10 billon as it stands now and it helps the economy "0" not one bit, but if we put the money directly in it by buying cars then it helps the whole supply chain that are spread all across the USA and by selling the cars to the dealers at 20% off, we take a 3 billon lose but we gain more stability in Economy. Anyway all these part suppliers are Tax payers and if they not working then they not paying taxes and if they not paying taxes somebody's going to have to pay more and I don't want to, because I know it's going to be me and you.
So how much do we want to lose?
