Uh oh. I see a problem. All of those who have expressed dismay so far by the appearance of Dreyfuss and Mahre on the Huckabee show were women (although not all women were so offended). My own dear wife is in some ways as tough as nails, but in other ways she is easily offended. So I think I understand where they are coming from.

I would like to say to the female Huckabees that nobody is ever going to be adversely influenced by anything that Richard Dreyfuss, Bill Mahre, or any other liberal ever say on the Mike Huckabee show. You can relax about that. Their appearance only serves to show how empty that liberal claptrap is, and, by contrast, how deep and profound the wisdom that Mike brings to the interaction.

My only concern is that the spokesmen for the liberal point of view should be a little more credentialed. Movie stars like those guys are so easy to dismiss, it is like taking candy from a baby.

I have loved watching your show. At first, I was shocked that you would have Richard Dreyfus, then I just listened to the interview. I did not like that he railed on O'Reilly. I often get frustrated with O'Reilly, and was really mad at him for saying that you were going to lose the primary. I did not get so upset as I would have before at his criticism, but they try to equate O'Reilly on the right as to Keith Oberman. Maybe O'Reilly needs to stop yelling, stop doing the pinhead thing and stop with coming up with his own predictions during elections and he would not be viewed like that. He still does not spew the hate of Kieth Oberman or Bill Mayer - no comparison.

Then you had Bill Mayer on and I about had choked on my drink. Wow, I think giving him a platform is very concerning to me. Then again I listened and you were really able to make such a beautiful, reasonable, loving statement about our Loving God.

I still think to give them a platform with 2 men that are a part of 2 harmful and hurtful movies. I really don't know how to reconcile it to tell you the truth. On one hand you gave them a platform, on the other hand you were able to show how reasonable Christians can be.

My suggestion is that maybe it was liberal overload. I would just have one of those controversial figures on in one show. I would also have said something like "I will talk to O'Reilly to cool it when you talk to Keith Oberman about his constant hate toward very good people that just disagree with him, and his complete disrepect for the President of the United States."

I pray for you to have wisdom of who to have on your show and how to deal with those people that are so controversial.

I did watch most of the first show on Saturday and I did not see them on that show, was it different or did I miss something. I saw them when it showed later that night. So is the first show different than the later show.

    Many Blessings,
    April Brown

New National Poll: Obama Loses Two Percent to McCain, Ahead by Just Two

Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- A new national daily tracking poll from the pollster that had the most accurate results of the 2004 presidential elections shows more movement towards John McCain.

Barack Obama, the pro-abortion candidate, lost two percentage points from his 4.5 percent lead on Saturday. The new Investors Business Daily poll shows him dropping to a 2.1 percentage point lead over McCain.

Obama now leads by a small 46.7 to 44.6 percentage point margin with 8.7 percent of Americans still undecided. With the margin of error at 3.4 percentage points, the race is essentially tied.

The results are good news for McCain because he has cut into Obama's lead even though the IBD poll has finally got younger voters represented the way political observers expect they will go.

"The race tightened again Sunday as independents who'd been leaning to Obama shifted to McCain to leave that key group a toss-up," the newspaper reported.

"McCain also pulled even in the Midwest, moved back into the lead with men, padded his gains among Protestants and Catholics, and is favored for the first time by high school graduates."

Those are all key groups in the states McCain must win to propel himself to victory on Tuesday.

    Ms. Obvious Lee:

Amen on the National Primary Day!

Obama is only even a nominee because he pressured the caucuses to vote for him.

When it went back to the actual "in the booth" secret votes in the voting states, Hillary Clinton won the last few states.

If all the votes had been behind the curtain, Hillary Clinton would probably be the nominee.

I'm all for a National Primary Day so we can all have a secret ballot.

    Thanks.

I read the day wrong--but I can't go on Monday either. sigh.

Is anybody else wishing we had...

ONE national primary day when all states held their primaries or caucuses,

Followed by a few-no more than four--weeks of debates with rigorously controlled equal time for all--a la Saddleback

    with stringent spending limits

and then elections with mandatory ten-year prison sentences for anyone who knowingly tampers with an honest election process?

    Just pipe dreaming

I made a comment here earlier today after reading Linda' Rayborn's response to some complaints about guests on the Huckabee TV show. At that time, I had not seen this weekend's show. Now I have.

This show presented Mike Huckabee at his magnificent best. He interviewed two men, Richard Dreyfuss and Bill Mahre, both of whom are vociferously hostile to religion. He let them have their say, and some of it was insulting. But Mike responded to them as Jesus would have. He listened for points of agreement, expressed his disagreement without being disagreeable, and took it all in stride. Mike stood so much taller than those two guys that it seemed like a loving father speaking with his children.

Dreyfus wanted to explain that Americans don't appreciate the freedom of speech we enjoy as citizens. But his appeal to the rationality of the enlightenment overlooks the fact that all of the Founding Fathers agreed that without the moral underpinning of religion, our country would be doomed. People like Dreyfus who worship the rational side of the mind avoid the moral side for reasons of their own.

Mahre just wanted to do what he always does; that is, point out the evil that has been done throughout history in the name of religion. He asked the fundamental question of how can a loving God permit evil in the world, but only as an attorney making his case, not as someone interested in the truth.

Mike also interviewed Lorne Michaels and Seth Meyers of Saturday Night Live, and made a neat summation of the value of political humor in national elections.

Mike Huckabee demonstrated once again that he has the intellectual and moral strength to be President of all Americans, including those who are most in need of being led to the light. God bless you, Mike!

Also I wanted to say personally to you Gov. Huckabee- Thank you for being such a beautiful shining light in this dark world. When I hear people say all politicians are the same, I tell them about one who is different, who upholds his Christian values with truth and integrity and doesn't resort to the usual tactics involved in politics. Thanks for being who you are.

    Hey There, Obvious,

The caffine will be flowing on your behalf. I will even add in 2 heaping spoons of Creamy Chocolate Coffeemate (my fave) for solidarity in consolation. It also accomplishes 2 in 1.

Huckabeans, we have a 'sister-beaner' in angst. Caffine-Up.

Did anyone catch Mike's Town Hall program? I must have missed it somewhere.

Also, Help me out here. I'm 'deer in the headlights' over this. The Huckabee show I saw had questions from the audience, Tito the Builder, a man who owns a truck driving company, Robert K. (Rich Man Poor Man). Did I check out somehow? I did not see Richard Dreyfus at all, or Bill Mahr.

I did see a commercial for Huckabee w/ Richard Dreyfus on, but I did not see him on his show. Crazy.

  • Dr. David

    11/02/2008 02:28 PM

Regarding Mike Huckabee's TV show, I also believe that guests should be scheduled who represent a variety of points of view, liberal, moderate, and conservative. However, I would like to have them expressed by thoughtful people, not partisan extremists such as inane movie stars on the left or some employees of the FoxNews station on the right. Mike has always said that the message is what counts. I hope the station will let him put that theory to the test.

  • mxnwilson

    11/02/2008 01:51 PM

    Ms Obvious,

I see once again, you and I are having to use caffeine and chocolate for our consolation. At least, however, it's Huckabee who is coming to your state. Barack Obama is coming to Georia.

Now Charlie Daniels can literally sing, "The Devil Went Down to Georgia (looking for a vote to steal). I heard he is going to be campaigning for the oponent of Saxby Chambliss--so my fellow Georgians, if you haven't voted already, please support our senator and McCain on Tuesday!

    Leighann, Cariker,

So good to see you posting again, and I agree with you and Linda on this one. I think Huckabee knows how to allow a person to voice his opinion without trying to force it on others.

  • Cariker, LeighAnn

    11/02/2008 01:16 PM

The purpose of the FoxNews shows is to compare and contrast peoples ideas and thoughts. If everyone on the show is like minded and holds the same views, it serves no purpose, it's called preaching to the choir.
As much as Huckabee was supressed by the media during his own campaign, I can't believe anyone would be asking him to do that now or threatening not to watch his show. I didn't see the show personally this weekend, however I can't imagine Gov. Huckabee even slightly bending his own positions and beliefs in order to be in agreeance with those on his show.

  • Rayborn, Linda

    11/02/2008 10:36 AM

I can't believe I have just read several comments on here stating they will no longer watch HUCKABEE because Mike is being "fair and balanced", what FOX advertises to be! Who knows, maybe Mike will get his points/views across to some of these folks if they ACTUALLY listen to what he has to say. By being inclusive with his show he opens up the possiblities of unlimited audience appeal and gives himself a larger viewership. We all know how, even the most liberals are impressed with his honest, common sense ideas and the fact that he is not judgemental is part of his very appeal as a conservative.

Why did you allow a PINHEAD like atheist and liberal nut, Richard Dreyfuss, spew his lunacy??? We don't need to give nuts like him MORE air time! I am no longer watching your show! All he did was trash Bill OReilly, Fox and blather on about nothing that made any sense. Pleeeeeeze!!

    1. Isn't accepting anything of momentary value against the rules? Seems Obama is offering free concert tickets in Central Florida...

    2. How come nothing has been mentioned about Phillip Berg's Lawsuit on TV, just on the internet?

    3. Is the LA Times still holding on to the tape that has been in question? We need updating.

I especially like Govener Huckabee's analogy
with the students in a class setting and the one got an a and the others got lesser grades for less effort and the person in authority gave away the a so they got a c and the one who got a d for less effort got a c that was a powerful analogy. Can you take that example and go even futher with the fall out of that? farmer works hard and earns more farmer works less and brings in less crops why should farmer a work harder to feed farmer b? I heard barack say he was sharing a penut butter sandwitch with his friend and other examples when he shared things of his....fine....was there a person in authority telling him he had to share his peanut butter sandwitch with some one he didn't like? I don't want some one telling me I have to give to the government and they get to pick who I share with I may not want to give to the abortion issue, or some government program and who in the government is going to give to my church?
