    Scott Anderson and Everyone,

Yes California is in a heap of trouble, but there are many here who still only bow their knees to one, our Lord Jesus Christ.

And there is hope for California, I also came out of the muck and mire, spoon fed me by the socialist entertainment industry of the '60's, destroying America's moral compass.

Please join millions of us in prayer and fasting for the soul of the most influential State in the world to transform California to what we are really meant to be. The Golden State.

    Maxine,

thank-you for responding to my post. The scripture you mentioned about "not growing weary in well doing .... but we shall reap if we faint not" ..... a very good word in times like these.

The only channel I seem to be listening to is Fox as well as Christian stations. Yes, indeed weary, very weary of all the lies and distortions of the truth.

Here is a passage of scripture that you know Maxine and I am sure many do also on here but it sort of sums it up.

    II Timothy 3:1-5,7

This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.

For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,

Without natural affection, truce-breakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good.

    Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;

Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.

Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

    Psalms 3:1-3

Lord, how are they increased that trouble me! Many are they that rise up against me.

Many there be which say of my soul, There is no help for him in God.

But thou, O Lord, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head.

    Doctor David,

Thanks for your response, I always enjoy your inputs. I agree and always sensed that Mike H. was verbally adroit in communicating with depth from a broad knowledge database. In debates, before media, and in his writings he has exhibited this capability.

I believe the primary reasons he is a true leader in executive roles is that he interacts well, and assimilates knowledge for decision making quickly. He seems to have an inherent discernment filter to screen out the noise, retain truth and necessary data. As far as credibility with others, I believe he often has favor across the aisle [as governor] and even many media pundits seem to honor his opinions, skills, and persona. I also believe that Mike can select bipartisan, knowledgeable team players with synergism among his advisors.

I agree that even Mike can enhance his knowledge database, but I'm not sure more credentials or formal education would enhance his career that much at this point. I suggested David Barton as an example to move quickly up a learning curve where more specific knowledge may be necessary.

Mike apparently also reads books-of-choice and other documents relevant to issues of interest. He formed opinions on immigration, foreign policy, economics, Fair Tax, etc. in this manner.

At any rate, our thoughts on this may be a moot point, since Mike will probably choose his personal growth path well - and we all will benefit. As an avid viewer, I hope Mike continues to interview experts on relevant issues [other than just Fox folks].

    Jill,
I echo your thoughts as I am having to hit the mute button more and moreon my TV. It seems that so many are not concerned at all, and do not demand an explanation from Obama on so many allegations.

I also feel that Sen. McCain has grown spiritually stronger as he has chosen alot of different things in his life that would suggest such. I recall how he spoke many positive things about Gov. Huckabee--seemed to have alot of respect for him. And too, he has been attending a Bible believing-teaching church for the last 15 years.

These things are very helpful in times when I get discouraged. Along with the Apostle Paul's reminders to not grow weary in well doint. (don't recall the scripture reference), but I'm sure everyone is familiar with it.

LAST BEST HOPE MAY BE THE BERG SUIT

I, too, am discouraged, to say the least, about the way the campaign is going. It's tough to hold out hope that some of the myriad charges against Obama will stick, so as to nail him at the end.

One thing that may throw this election into chaos, and deny Obama the Oval Office is the Berg lawsuit. If it blows, it'll be the bomb that rocked the world.

    Read all about it:

    Olga Hermann,

You made so many good points. I was also surprised to see so many on here that voted for Obama on winning the debate. I somehow can never get pass the "character" issue to ever declare him a winner of anything.

My respect for Senator John McCain has grown a lot in this campaign. I personally believe that as he is getting older that he is becoming a stronger Christian. Picking Sarah Palin ..... proves a lot to me. I believe she has a lot of influence over McCain concerning drilling in ANWAR and also could possibly help to persuade him into thinking about a "Human life amendment to the constitution" as well as "overturning Roe vs Wade of which McCain is for.

Please follow the directions with this link and view the video of the debate between Governor Huckabee and Arianna Huffington at the dinner in Pa. on Monday night. It is a MUST VIEW... Sure wish he would put some of the clips from this debate on "HUCKABEE" so it could have more viewers. He was soooo good that Arianna Huffington asked him to run as her running mate. If he can win a liberal like her over, WOW!!

Here is the link to the Huffington vs. Huckabee debate.-- http://www.pcntv.com/# you have to click the Watch us Live link in the Online section in the upper left side. Once you see a new screen with a video on the right and a playlist on the left, you click the Election '08 tab and that should provide a play button to the debate.

It’s taken me a little while to digest the mountains of information hurled at us lately, right before a major election, how convenient. But I’m extremely surprised by the Poll here, that anyone could even think Senator Obama did well much less won. Every time he talks he’s changed his tune on issues, riding on the waves of his audience. How can we believe him anymore? The one thing he hasn’t changed on is raising taxes on those he considers wealthy who generally are responsible for employing people. Do we think they’ll take the hit alone? When business expenses go up so does the cost of products, fewer employees are given bigger workloads, leading to higher medical bills, more layoffs and a hiring freeze. Which we need like a hole in the head.

The more I listen to Senator McCain, the more I respect him. I haven’t heard him change on anything foundational. He’s firm that this isn’t the time to be raising taxes, but to give more cuts to families with children to get the economy moving. We have one chance only right now, to vote for a man who will at least listen to other ideas. He even told Gov. Palin he’s willing to look at drilling in Anwar. He is also considering different tax plans, which may turn him into the direction of the Fair Tax, with Gov. Huckabee’s help. Alan Greenspan even mentioned, a consumption Tax may be the answer.

McCain is a no nonsense man, and we need his strength right now. He’s proven it by bringing Gov. Palin on board. He continually said he wanted her because she is a Reformer and not afraid to take on her own party when it involves corruption. Granted he’s made choices that not all of us have agreed with during his career as Senator. But at least he’s willing to change.

Can we afford Obama as President? The list of anti-American and corrupt associates keeps growing. I’ve sat on boards and before I became a part of any group I made sure I knew where everyone stood and their histories.

Come on people, we have to go back to work and make sure McCain is elected. Yes, he does look tired, all the more that he needs our help. America is being sold out from under us, and John McCain has proven his love for America and life, which is a firm foundation to build from.

The problems we are facing today are much deeper than our economy, war, poverty, drugs, violence, disease, etc. etc. etc. When we look at the oldest book on Earth, the Bible, we see the history of a people who would follow God’s laws for a generation and the next generation would tell God they didn’t need him anymore and bring other religions into their lives and they would suffer with war, famine and disease. We’ve done the same and told God to separate Himself from every part of our government and public life and then we’re shocked when His bounty and protection go with Him.

It’s one thing to say, I worship Jesus and have gone to church for 20 years. But another to prove it by following God’s most basic Laws and the most obvious litmus test is protecting God’s image in the form of the babies in the womb. If we don’t Fear (respect) God in that, everything else is only lip service. And without the fear of the Lord there is no wisdom. Let’s not be distracted but stay on course and push the Pro-Life platform.

    No Bailout for Sodom
    by MrArbitrage
    www.TableofWisdom.com

The headlines read: "SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- You've got to give California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger credit for being the first to stick his hand out. Even before the vote on the $700 billion bailout bill last week, the wily Terminator of fiscal discipline had a letter on the desk of Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson making the case for a $7 billion loan to keep the nation's most populous state running past October..."

I am outraged by the shameful impertinence of Schwarzenegger and his state to come forward expecting my tax dollars to pay for the consequences of their extravagance. They are a textbook case in the tragic consequences of leftism and they should wither on the vine so they may be a shining example of what the Democrats have in store for the entire country when they control all 3 branches of government.

The Marxists of this state, for all of their crying about the "environment" have made fortunes as Hollywood dumps their toxic waste into our culture. The ramifications of their toxic waste are far more palpable, more measurable than the dubious claims of "An Inconvenient Truth. The inconvenient truth is that for decades this state has given the proverbial bird to the vast majority of Americans, our values and our faith. They have wasted their money on left winged programs encouraging illegal immigration. Still lingering in my mind are the recent images, tens of thousands of militants at "gay pride" parades marching through the streets of San Francisco dressed up as our Savior Jesus Christ as they shockingly mocked everything that is sacred to "fly over country". Now you dare ask me for my money? I thought "gay marriage" was supposed to save California from destitution? Listening to the glowing reports by ABC, NBC & CBS led me to believe that this celebration of sodomy was going to single handedly balance California’s budget, no?

Is California "too big to fail?" In my estimation, this albatross of a state is too odious NOT to fail. There is plenty of wealth there already. If they want a bailout, they need to go to the Hollywood elitists and make them practice what they have preached. The fortunes of Steven Spielberg, Rob Reiner and David Geffen alone can balance California’s budget. It’s time for California to "take" the "excess profits" from their own citizens. What about the "fairness" doctrine leftists have been ramming down our throats this election season? Let’s see how eager Spielberg and Reiner are to be plundered to support the causes to which they are owing.

That’s the beauty of federalism. There is healthy competition between the states; so if a state governs poorly, there are 49 others from which to choose. I know there are so very good people living there and those good people can vote with their feet – and they will.

By the disgraceful way this state is run, they may deserve to be the first state to be forced OUT the union, "forced secession" if you will. Nobody will be stuck there if they go bust. The only thing that may be stuck there with a little luck is Hollywood and that my fellow Americans would be a good thing. For Hollywood to be plundered by the state treasury into extinction would be the best thing that happened to this country in the past 100 years.

You want to really spark some outrage the likes of which we have not seen since 1861 – go ahead – make our day; force decent Americans to bailout Sodom.

Harley Bue: I just wanted to clarify that my reason for supporting the idea that Mike Huckabee should "educate" himself is NOT because I believe he is deficient in any area of knowledge. It is all about the appearance of things. If someone asks, say, Robert Gates who the President of the Ukraine is, and he doesn't remember, nobody notices, because he has foreign policy credentials. If they ask Mike the same question and he doesn't know, they jump on it as evidence that he is unqualified.

So like the scarecrow in the Wizard of Oz, I think Mike needs a foreign policy diploma so that adversaries cannot deny he has a brain.

I understand what your saying , but now these big corporations that employ many of US. workers are in trouble of going under
so I would think they would be on board with what ever got people buying again. GOV. is just wasting money propping them up when nobody is buying, they are bound for doom.

Together We Stand: Can we agree that the current tax code is seven times the length of the Bible because it contains so many provisions that enable some people or corporations to avoid paying their fair share of taxes? Can we agree that those provisions are there because of pressure from big lobbies who have great influence on the Federal government? Can we agree that those who now benefit from the current tax code will resist the Fair Tax, because those provisions would no longer be there to give them an unfair advantage? If we can, we have no disagreement.

I think this is like WWOOOOOOWWW!!!!!!!!!

The IRS sends out 300,000 trees worth of forms and instructions every year. Eight billion pages. Twenty-eight times around the world if laid end-to-end.

*300,000 trees worth of forms (now that's a lot of trees)

    *Eight billion pages

You know this has to cost a whopper$$$!!

Wonder how much of our money the IRS spends on collecting it?

  • Gatchel, Nancy

    10/09/2008 09:50 AM

    Lars Schroeder,

I wondered the very same thing. Seems Obama wants it both ways, whichever seems expedient for him at the moment.

Also, during the first debate, I found it interesting that Obama said that McCain wanted "use a hatchet where only a scalpel was needed" with regards to the economy. Great line by Obama, but he's dead wrong! He is willfully blinded to the fact that the government needs "major exploratory surgery" and some "amputations". :)

Obama is a classic insider motivated by the typical insider power and greed, and he'll do whatever is politically expedient to get what he wants.
And I seriously doubt that he's severed all his dubious connections. His repudiations are just sound bites in my opinion.

  • Gatchel, Nancy

    10/09/2008 09:40 AM

    Dr. David,

Thank you for the calm words of reason. Boy, how I needed 'em!

Sometimes my emotions get carried away. My frustration stems from the obvious seemingly being totally ignored by those that have the power to do something about it.

And thank you, also, Ms. Obvious Lee.

    Together We Stand,

I've decided that when I hear excuses from those I call about the Fair Tax, like "we don't know that much about it", I am going to ask them, "What is it you would like to know or don't understand about it? Maybe I can answer your question(s) or direct you to a resource that can." I'm going to start asking them what their issues are with the Fair Tax.
I truly want to know. This will challenge me to become even better educated about the subject.

I can't see why corporations would suffer from the Fair Tax, either. I believed they would when I initially became aquainted with Fair Tax, but as I learned more about it, I realized that they actually have more to gain from it in several ways.

So, I will be calling and/or writing my congressman, my senators, McCain's campaign, and any others I can think of everyday.

Also going to put a sticker/magnet on my car so more people will have at least be aware of it.

My bank manager called me the other night and she'd never heard of it. I've known her for a long time, so we got into a great discussion about it. Gave the sites to go to per her request. Another convert!

My brother has been telling me this past year that he doesn't know much about and he didn't check out the sites I offered. Emailed him the Fair Tax thumbnail synopsis. He liked it to! Wanted to know the downside. I don't know of one right now.

Thank you all for being patient with me when I'm angry and frustrated.

I sure hope McCain points out more about "that one"!

    Gatchel, Nancy,
I'm With you, I will call Thursday. You never know they may listen to one of us.
Any way McCain said he wanted to clean up corruption in Washington, The Fair tax would defiantly help him do that.
Could you imagine the Dems. and Reps. not having the taxes to fuss over .

We just got to give them the reasons.
Lest we can say we tried.

What would the Fair Tax do.

Over 13 Trillion in tax shelters would no longer have to be sheltered and end up in US. banks backing loans and in stocks, plus some Currency from other nations would also end up in our banks to hide from their taxes.
    Economy? Problem solved!!
    imbalanced Trade ? problem solved!!
    Complicated tax system? Problem solved
Companies leaving the USA? Problem Solved
    Unemployment? Problem solved!!
over 13 Trillions in tax shelters!!! Problem Solved!!!
    Need capitol? Problem solved!!!
Investment in the USA!! problem solved!!!
This would help People with making house payments? Problem solved!!
Pork in bills for tax cuts for some? Problem Solved!!!
Imagine all the trees that would be saved by not having all them tax forms.
Everyone that hates filling out taxes becomes a potential vote.
Be like Every pay roll worker in America would get a raise.

Prebate check every month would be like a Stimulus checks.
Most important right now is getting confidents up and the Fair tax would do it more then anything else.
Can you believe one thing can cover all this.

I have to admit it struck me kind of funny that Barack answered these two questions in immediate succession so differently:

(Paraphrased) He said he really couldn't understand a few things, like how JM supported going into Iraq in the first place when OB was still on the loose in Afghanistan. Then, seconds later, when asked about whether he would use military force in regard to genocide, he said that America has a moral responsibility to intervene. So wasn't Saddam Hussein gassing his own people and leaving groups of women and children out in the Iraqi desert to be eaten by wild dogs? And he doesn't understand why we went in there? Some candidates have shorter memories than ... than many voters!

It also struck me funny that when asked about whether health care was a right or a responsibility, Barack said that in a nation as rich as the United States... as rich as the United States....?! Yes, we are filthy rich in red ink spending... and universal health care is another responsibility the govt. should take on? Pander this country into oblivion! Will America vote itself out of being a super power? We'll see in a few weeks...

  • TOGETHER WE STAND!!!

    Doctor David,
Why would The people at the top of the big corporations be against the Fair Tax?
Under the fair tax they would pay none, why would they want the Gov. taking 37% out of there profits?
Plus they can grow and make more from lower prices on there exports.
Only way I see it hurting them is maybe if some of there factories are actually outside our country, then when their product hit our stores it would now have to compete $to$ with USA made products of the same.

McCain said he wants to clean up the corruption in Washington, what better way of doing it then taking away there main tool?

I don't think it was only the fair tax because they did not get behind Mike, I think it was because he did not look like them but looked more like us, To them he looked like a outsider.

--- Tears of the Eagle --

I would not pray for McCain to win.
Nor would I pray for Obama to win.
More important to pray for is MORALS to come back to this country or else this country would one day disappear in self-combustion.

    This is a scary time
when the richest were given by government the power to play GOD that we have to pay them tributes in times of our deepest troubles. They don't care about your kids being educated. They don't care when family lives being broken. They don't care more drug users on the street as a result of wars and broken families. It is the least of their concerns that you can still live like a human being in the next ten years.

    This is a scary time
when there are MORE & MORE secrets in the government that we don't know which might hurt us.

    This is a scary time
when we have to protect ourselves from terrorists in all forms, in all levels from all avenues, in and out.

    This is a scary time
that our Constitution is not referred by principalities at the highest places.

    This is a scary time
when our Constitution, the only PROMISE to the citizens is being changed into something else.

    This is a scary time
when the love of money is the root of all governments.

    This is a scary time
when the government body are able to trade individual's autonomy and freedom for power and money.

    This is a scary time
when they made attempts to change the 2nd amendment.

    This is a scary time
if you don't know how to keep your garden going when you have to hide or depression comes.

There ARE so much more to pray for than to pray for McCain to win or Obama to win.

But I may pray for we would have some decent choices for Presidents and Congressmen at least before the end of this world.

    WOW!!!

Linda Rayborn, Thank you so much for your post including the link to the debate between Mike Huckabee and Arianna Huffington. It was late at night that I even opened up my computer to give a quick check on things before closing down for the night. The video was lengthy, but worth every minute of it. It brought tears of joy to my eyes watching the greatest debater of all time again. I thought Arianna was good too, but of course for the wrong man. I thought it great too when she suggested Mike be her running mate (if she were running for anything).

    Nancy and Dr. David--

Thank you for your conversation. I'd like to second Dr. David's comment that Mike Huckabee is in for the long haul, and so should we be.

This election as no other has seen Christians mobilized in prayer. We will need to keep a prayer focus no matter who wins the election.

Governor Huckabee's role, as I have said before, may well prove to be a greater one than any office he has sought. Without our outcry for a pro-life conservative vice presidential candidate, for example, we would most likely be looking at a McCain/Lieberman or Romney or Giuliani ticket. But now the nation is looking at a genuine Christian middle class family and a gifted lady raised up to join Huckabee in giving us a voice.

When things look dark and discouraging, remember we serve a God who truly does make ALLthings work together for good...

Look what He did with the cross.

Who won? Neither won, but I can tell you who lost…us; the American people. We are looking for a leader who is honest and straight forward; we’re all grown up we can take the truth, there’s no need to burp us like a baby and send us on our way.

Don’t say you’re going to fix all these issue or concerns, when you know you can’t, you know there isn’t going to be enough money or resources to go around, stop pandering; please. Like the preamble says ‘promote the general welfare’ not provide, we are not a socialist society and we don’t need to government to take care of all of our needs. Health care is right?? What the heck is that all about; McCain was dead on with his answer that health care is a responsibility; thank you Senator. Now with all that said; I think McCain did better then Obama; but didn’t win because he truly didn’t point out Obama’s character and judgment.

We as voters have to look at the core of the candidate, we are not voting for just a chief economist, or foreign policy advisor, or a Commander in Chief; we are voting for a President who has to be able to handle ALL those jobs. If you understand the core values of the candidate and that matches with your core values; then that is the person you should vote for and have confidence they will make the right choice.

Weather everyone realizes it or not you have four choices in this election; you can vote FOR McCain or FOR Obama; but you also have the choice to vote AGAINST Obama or AGAINST McCain. While John McCain may not be the best choice (read Mike Huckabee here…); he sure is a much better choice the Obama; by far!

It's amazing how the media can do their job when they want to do so. Watch this video of man-shrew Chris Matthews tearing into an Obama surrogate just a few months ago. Now that his party's primary is over, Matthews like most of his colleagues are stepping into line and following their marching orders.

Watch this video and ask yourself how Matthews could make such a striking point regarding primo-bama's lack of any legislative accomplishment or qualification, yet be so willing to carry Obama's water in the general election?

Remember, George W. Bush was said to have lost the debates to Kerry and he still won. Even though the group they had watching the debates voted that Obama won when asked if they had to vote right then who would they vote for 14 said McCain, only 11 Obama. So, though being a powerful speaker certainly helps, the substance behind the speech is also important and the trust factor. McCain's best bet is to get folks to mistrust Obama. That is the most likely way to make people vote against Obama and for McCain. Obama is a scary figure because we know so little about him and his associations of shady substance are many....

    Nancy and Dr. David

I have been trying to say that on this Website ever since Gov. Huckabee was forced to drop out. The only way that he will ever get any support for the Fair tax from his own party is when we vote the ones out that didn't support him. Vote for the ones that Gov. Huckabee is asking us to in our respectful states. For the rest of them let them get a real job not on mine or your tax dollars.

    Hey folks,

Just wanted to remind everyone that McCain really falls short of what we wanted, but we need to support him in the interests of conservatism. The power is that vote is not in advancing conservatism, but rather in holding things in limbo while we work to get our man in next time around. If we want to be successful at doing that, we need to start working as soon as this election is over, by praying and convincing others of the power and viability of conservative principles.

McCain will make a good leader in my opinion, but I don't think he's a good campaigner. I share the frustration, but venting isn't going to do any good. If he's going to be elected, we're going to have to make it happen ourselves and not depend on him. No, he doesn't deserve it, but we don't deserve Obama. This is for our sake, and the sake of our children.

So let's get out there and talk to others, campaign, vote, and PRAY!!! Go, Team Huck!!!

    Bue Harley,

Gov. Huckabee was in a conference called "rediscovering God In America" with David Barton, Newt Gingrich, John Hagee, and many others.

This conference took place in Florida just before the primaries there. I ordered the DVD from the American Family Association. And yes, he is very knowledgable when it comes to the Christian heritage of our country.

This is a video that should be promoted to every citizen of America especially our young people.

    Dr. David, Tim Nissen,

I was reminded of David Barton after reading your comments. You may have seen him or heard of him.

David Barton is an author, former teacher, and political activist. He is the founder and president of WallBuilders, an organization which presents "America's forgotten history and heroes, with an emphasis on the moral, religious, and constitutional foundation on which America was built. Videos and books are available.

Barton presents American history from a Christian perspective, keeping God as sovereign in the affairs of nations. His knowledge repertoire and recollection of historic events and leaders in America's heritage is quite remarkable.

Mike may consider having him as a consultant for real time inputs to substantiate or refute current decision-making from past history. When I have heard him, he is practical and can apply historic data to current events.

I have always been quite impressed when hearing him. It may be beneficial for Barton to appear on Mike's show.

ANSWER MCCAIN SHOULD HAVE GIVEN TO "ZEN QUESTION" LAST NIGHT

It was the last question of the night, the perfect opportunity to hit a grand slam at the bottom of the ninth.

Question: "What don't you know, and how will you learn it?"

Answer he should have given: "What do I not know? I don't know who the real Barack Obama is, and I don't think the American people do either. Who is the Senator Obama who has allied himself with so many people over the years who express hatred for America? Who is the Senator Obama whose campaign is actively coordinating with law enforcement in Missouri in order to intimidate his critics? Who is the Senator Obama who, as chair of the Chicago Annenberg Challenge, dispensed $100 million to ACORN and William Ayers' radical "education" programs? Who is the Barack Obama who trained ACORN in Alinsky-style tactics that they used to pressure Fannie Mae and mortgage banks into giving out high-risk home loans to people with no jobs, no assets and no credit? Who is the Senator Obama who, though he talks about "change," consistently provided cover for the Daly and Stroger political machines in Chicago and Cook County over the years? As recently as two years ago, he returned to Illinois to campaign against the reform candidate running for Treasurer in Illinois in favor of the crony candidate - both were of his own party. Who is the Barack Obama who believes that a woman's "right to choose" includes leaving newborns to die on utility room shelves? Americans want to know the answers to these questions. How will I learn what I don't know? Looking at Senator Obama's history and record. You can find it in David Freddoso's well-researched book The Case Against Barack Obama. Friends, you've known me for a long time; you know my strengths as well as my flaws. I have nothing to hide. You may disagree with me on any number of issues, but in these tumultuous times, would you rather cast hope to the wind or hire an experienced and trustworthy captain to have his hand on the tiller? God bless America."

Well, this debate is over. Who won?, I said it was McCain, because that is who I wanted to win. I really don't think McCain did poorly, actually I thought his deliverance was better that Obama's. I don't like the chopped sentences that Obama gives, like he can't complete the sentence (like a hiccup in the middle of it) and it is not for emphasis that I can see. I don't care for hand gestures if they don't actually help the point that is being made. It's like something you would be told to do in a speech class so that you are not just standing there. But the gesture must fit the point that is being made.

When Obama brought up that McCain voted against continuing Free Health Insurance for children (known as Schipp, spelling?), I thought McCain would surely bring his reason when it came his time to speak, but I think the moderator quickly turned the subject. This would have been the time to say that he voted against the bill because the Democrats had tacked on the qualifications to include families making $200,000.00 a year. They can well afford to buy their own insurance. This is also why Bush vetoed the bill. But they like to make it look like Republicans don't care about children or their health insurance.

I hope the next and final debate will be more of a knockout. Take off the gloves and let the punches fall where they may.

Dear Nancy: I believe that Mike Huckabee is in this for the long haul, and I think we need to be, also. Like professional athletes, we can't get too excited when things go well, or too despondent when they go badly. John McCain was right last night when he talked about America being the greatest country the world has ever known. We just need to keep the faith, and work towards our common goal, one day at a time, always believing that right makes might.

    Doctor David,

I fear you are correct. However, I remain fixated on this issue due to our current economic climate.

The good ol' boy beltway doesn't want this.

I am very angry. I am going to channel that anger into every available opportunity and avenue I can find. I'm a firm believer in that it's got to be us that makes the Fair Tax happen.

My plan to vote for McCain continues at this time. However, I have to be honest. I am sick to death of the Washington insider tyranny. The Washington insiders that are running for president haven't done enough to prove to me that any kind of positive "change" is going to occur. They simply are not listening, and/or they simply do not care.

Therefore, I reserve the right to change my mind about voting. I pray constantly for God's guidance and trust that he is providing it, and will continue to do so.
I find this whole situation very difficult.

I am one angry, frustrated lady today.

I always appreciate your words of wisdom and insight. I always find them helpful. Keep 'em comin'.

Tim Nissen: It is, of course, presumptuous of us to give advice to someone like Mike Huckabee. However, I agree with the general thrust of your comment. I believe it would be in America's interest for Mike to affiliate with an Institute or University think tank where he could not only learn, but obtain credentials that legitimize that learning. He is a quick study, so a year or so might do it.

Of course, it might not be in HIS interest, because he could have a more enjoyable life doing something else. But he has a history as a servant leader, so I suspect that, in the final analysis, he will be thinking about what is good for America and how many people are behind him.

On what has been a fairly bleak day for Republicans, there is some good news. Of course the election is not lost, miracles do happen. Regardless of what happens, I for one have been genuinely delighted in getting to know Gov. Sarah Palin. I find her to be articulate, intelligent, refreshing, and very real.

I like so many others am an ardent Mike Huckabee supporter and will be for the future as well. It is nice to know that he is not alone in the fight for good. People like Gov. Sarah Palin also exist and make known to the world that the voice of the Christian Right will be heard. I eagerly look forward to the future with confidence knowing that in this cycle at least two major party canidates had the courage to to stand on their convictions in the face of intense pressure and criticism. I am praying as always for you Gov. Huckabee.!

  • Dr. David

    10/08/2008 03:54 PM

Nancy Gatchel: I would suggest to you that the McCain headquarters are being disingenuous with you when they say they don't know enough about the Fair Tax to be for or against it. The Fair Tax is a main reason that the Republican establishment was determined to torpedo Mike Huckabee's Presidential campaign. The people at the top of the big corporations and their flunkies in Congress will never support it, because it would pull the rug out from the under the rigged tax system that is now in place. Those Congressmen are going to have to be voted out of office, and the Fair Tax instated by a massive grass roots effort. When that happens, we will be able to say that Americans have taken back our country.
