You guys have been incredible in your faithful support, prayers, and efforts throughout the campaign and beyond it. Janet and I feel like the most blessed people on earth to have been able to be part of the growing community of people across America who believe in vertical politics. I know that many of you have hoped and prayed that I would be selected as John McCain’s running mate. I am certainly moved by your support and confidence, but instead of you hearing a bunch of total nonsense from the media, I want to share exclusively with you what is up.
There are reports that I’m on my way to Dayton tonight. Not true. Wasn’t invited to be there and any reports that I’m going to be there are a big surprise to me. I have never been contacted by the McCain campaign at any point about the VP slot. I have never been asked for any information, background, etc., so as I have said repeatedly in interviews, I didn’t consider myself to be under any consideration. I think people thought I was being coy and just not talking, but I have built my political life on trying to shoot straight and tell it as it is and as I see it. I have been honest in telling you that I had no reason to believe I was ever seriously considered or “vetted” for the ticket. That’s why I have continued with HuckPAC because I have felt that we (me and you) shouldn’t give up, but rather gear up and help good pro-life, conservative people to office across the nation.
Our efforts are just getting started. Like you, I will await news of who Senator McCain selects. I hope it will be a person with a solid record and solid convictions on the foundation issues that bring many of us to the process. I’m taking this unusual step to communicate so it will come from me and not from some of the ridiculous things being said on TV and websites tonight.
With deep appreciation,
Mike Huckabee

Debbi,
I am glad you like the mug. This one wasn't too hard. The smiley face one took most of a day. I see clearly here that the bottom one is the better one..... I have submitted it a couple of times today .... but it is not showing up ?? ??
One thing in making them .... you cannot leave more than one space between each character otherwise it will turn out crazy!
A challenge indeed..... keep trying. -

To Mike will Unite:
As I see it, if the McCain/Palin ticket "loses", then we'll just have to "kiss" the causes of social conservatives...goodbye for the next 4 or maybe even 8 years! As president, Obama will definitely appoint Supreme Court judges that are pro-abortion and pro-homosexual marriage. From what I've been "hearing" there would probably be 3 Supreme Court Judges seats that will be appointed by the next President. President Bush has been "bashed" by the liberal media, but I truly believe that he did his job for social conservatives by appointing Alito and Roberts to the Supreme Court, plus, we haven't been "attacked" in our soil again since 9/11! We are so close to getting the conservative judges who could possibly bring us the vote to overturn Roe v. Wade.Of course, Mr. Huckabee was my #1 PRIMO CHOICE President or Vice President, but if Sarah Palin can run her family of 5 children, run her school's PTA, run her city as a Council Member and eventually as Mayor, and THEN, run her whole state of Alaska... I would say that she's a well-organized, responsible person worthy of our support.
But after having said all this...I also have been thinking like you, how could she take the time to nurture her children, especially the newborn which has his own special needs. But then again, if she could do all the things that I've previously mentioned and raise her family, then she can definitely "juggle" being the VP of the United States of America. Being VP would probably be a lot "easier" than being a Governor of a state. Yes, she could possibly be the second in command, but McCain seems to be a "healthy" mature man despite the things his body had already endured during his 5 years of torturous captivity in Vietnam.
Even though our Mr. Huckabee did not get the nomination, I think his "voice" was definitely heard by so many people including McCain...even though the media tried to ignore it. So many of Mr. Huckabee's ideas are taking ground, even though these leaders think it's their "original" thoughts. But you know what? God is in control and there are so many people praying for America. We're a unique, generous country that started out valuing God's providence...and it seems that we have been losing our "way" lately, but there are still many people, like me, who fervently pray for Godly-leaders like Mike Huckabee. I am not giving up on my country that easily, and you shouldn't either.
It's not an "easy vote", but a McCain/Palin ticket is surely a pro-life ticket, plus I think, they bring in real solutions for our foreign oil/energy dependence.

I have to point out a few things to those that seem to want the Mccain/Palin ticket to lose in November. The road for Huckabee won't be that much easier in 2012 if McCain loses. Many in GOP circles are already dubbing Bobby Jindal as the next Reagan and as long as he doesn't slip up in his role as Governor of Louisiana, he will most likely have most of the conservative establishment behind him in 2012 if McCain loses. In fact, I think Jindal would be more of a hinderance for MH in 2012 than even Romney would be. And that doesn't even take into account how strong a following Palin will garner after this election.
So, the road for MH doesn't necessarily get any easier for a Presidential bid in 2012 if McCain loses in November. For this reason, I'd really like to see Huck run for the Senate (kinda wish he would have done it this year but understand why he didn't). We could certainly use someone like Huck in the U.S. senate these days!

The one investigation ongoing re Sarah Palin in Alaska has to do with her trying to influence the firing of a police officer who is her sister's ex-husband and who is trying to get custody of their children. It sounds like this police officer was abusive to his wife.
This police office tasered is own 11 year old son, drove drunk in a patrol car, & shot a cow moose out of season. He sounds like a character and someone who should disciplined. Patrolmen are often "good-ole-boy networks" who protect officers who are caught in domestic abuse.
As a survivor of domestic violence, myself, once again I must say, Sarah Barracuda, You Go Girl!

Deborah in Dayton: We better do our homework before getting too excited about Sarah Palin. She may have her screwed on right, but there are people in Alaska who are claiming that she has serious ethical problems (not trumped up ones like Mike faced), and that is why she recently changed her mind and accepted McCain's offer. I don't know the truth of it, but I suspect it bears watching.

I'm still not sure how I will vote in November. Here's why:1.) Mike was the OBVIOUS choice for conservatives. I kind of feel like Palin was a slap in the face to evangelicals. Why would you choose second best when you could have had the BEST? Just doesn't make any sense to me.
2.) I don't trust McCain AT ALL. It seems that he is just pandering to women/disgruntled Clinton women voters. What will he do once he gets into office (if he wins)? He has never, ever been a champion for social issues. Why would he start now?
3.) Something could happen to McCain and that would mean that Palin, who is inexperienced, would be running our country. Scary.
4.) I mean no disrespect to Palin, but I truly believe that God has given us women (yes, I'm a woman) the highest calling on earth and that is to be the primary caregivers to our children. God will hold us accountable one day as to if we stepped up to the plate on this one. Yes, Palin is pro-life which is great, but...she returned to work 3 days after giving birth to her fifth child in April (a boy with Down Syndrome - he is only 4 months old!). My heart is aching for her five children. They need her. If we social conservatives are truly FOR the family, then why is it ok to give Palin a free pass on this one? She needs to be home raising the next generation - it's the toughest and most important job on earth.
For this last reason, I truly hope that McCain/Palin loses. Then, Palin's children will have her attention that they so desperately need during their formative years.
I feel like we conservatives have been duped once again. There was an obvious choice for VP - Mike Huckabee. Why should we settle?
Something just doesn't smell right about all of this...
Maybe all of this discussion is mute anyway...did anyone see the 85,000 people at the Obama speech last night?
My prediction:
Obama wins by a landslide in 2008. He serves 1 term. Huckabee runs against him in 2012 and sweeps the nation!
Go Mike!!!

So sad to see McCain camp did not have the foresight to choose you Mike but then we are thrilled that Mitt did not slide in the backdoor to the White Houdse on McCain's coat tails. The way he kissed up to McCain and put all his staffers on McCain's payroll it was very frustrating to think he could actually be that dumb! Glad to see that once again it was pundits speculation (those who know nothing, excluding you of course). Even though you were not on the short list (IF you werent) McCain proved in his pick that he respects you and the platform you stand on. Palin is about as close to you on social issues as anyone. There are so many other issues and reasons though that you are my pick. There is certainly no substitute for YOU but Palin is someone most all of us can come to the table for. Not excited like I would be for you, but I can vote the ticket.

To Huck Pac Team,
Thanks to Mike Huckabee sending us a letter, I was able to get a good nights sleep. Like a lot of you I was getting really wound up. I may have even said some things, that I want to take back. I just kept thinking he wasn't listening to Huckabee supporters.
Since Senator John S. McCain made his pick for VP (his running mate). I will use the bumper sticker I have been holding on to until I could make up my mind. I will also enjoy watching the GOP Convention.
I believe Gov. Palin is really a logical choice. It should (at least I believe) bring together the Huckabee supporters, Romney Supporters, Talk show hosts, and most everyone that had any doubts.
The move that McCain and those that assisted to make the VP selection renew my faith in the 2008 Presidential election.
I also have enjoyed not hearing Obama's name a thousand times today. I believe we will here more and more McCain/Palin in the media. I believe this does give the best chance to get McCain elected as President whom I will definitely vote for now. No write in for me.
I even heard where McCain and his staff are taking another look at The Fair Tax. Let see if we hear if McCain changes to drilling in ANWR. This is going to be an interesting 60 plus days. A little down yesterday but really up today. I try to remain optimistic and I have renewed faith in McCain.
I believe Obama will start call foul. He isn't getting enough media coverage and anything else he disagrees with. It will even be ok with me when I hear McCain say "My Friends".
Let get behind McCain/Palin for 2008 (Nov 4th).

Okay, I know I said earlier that I didn't know if I could vote for McCain with Palin on the ticket. That was before I read up on her and watched her acceptance speech which was totally out of the ballpark. As a parent of a child with a disability, I also identify with and respect her tremendously for that. I am feelin better about the possiblity now although I don't want Huck knocked out of the running for 2008. I do feel that Sarah Palin is a Pro-Life Christian candidate with people's best interest at heart, I find myself trusting her much more than McCain. At the very least, I realize he hasn't taken a total leave of his senses.

Obama's spokesman said the other day that John McCain had a horrible record when it came to women's rights. He was of course referring to Mr. McCain's pro-life stance.
It's not surprising to see Obama paint all women with the same broad brush. Not all women are pro-choice; to the contrary, I believe that a larger majority of them are actually pro-life.
If you were to ask most women who have had abortions in the past, you would find that most of them experience deep guilt and regret. You never see the Democrats talking about this.
The answer from the Obama camp is not surprising. His spokesman also said that John McCain had a "radical" stance in regard to abortion. This coming from a man who's policies allowed fully born babies to die outside of the womb. This from the same man who's policies lead to the infamous "comfort room" where dead infants were baptized, and foot printed for their parents. THIS IS BARACK OBAMA'S CHRISTIANITY ON DISPLAY.
Their is only one RADICAL in this election.

Governor:
While I am disappointed that you are not on the ticket in 2008, I am content with Sarah Palin carrying our message of pro-life, pro-family, low taxes and limited government to the American people for this election.
Sarah Palin can uniquely provide our young women with an example of a female leader with conservative principles. For too long the image of a strong female leader in government meant she was probably pro-choice as well. Well no longer - Sarah Palin unapologetically destroys that mold. Last night as I read your letter to us, it was hard to see what God had planned, but I can see how he might use this to accomplish something outstanding.
Many of us would have been unable to vote for McCain if he had picked a pro-choice VP. I am thankful he used good judgment.
You are an inspriration to each of us for different reasons. Because of you, I am now ready to be the one to do the something - starting today with another Huck Pac donation. I am confident that you will use it wisely to support candidates who are strong on the issues we value.
If you decide to run again in 2012, I won't wait. I will start my efforts immediately and remember the "EMILY" principle you described, i.e., Early Money is Like Yeast. I will also apply that to my willingness to volunteer my time and energy.
I hope you will not be discouraged (although you being discouraged is hard for me to picture).
Can't wait to read your new book.
God's blessings on you and your family.

Gov. Huckabee,
I believe God has used you (and others) as an instrument for the urgent issues of the sanctity of life and the sanctity of marriage.
I have been praying hard that Sen. McCain would pick you or someone as strong as I believe you are on these urgent issues, and that he would not pick Mitt Romney or some other "prochoice" person like Tom Ridge, Joe Lieberman, or Condi Rice.
I really believe that the fate of our entire nation was in the balance. If McCain had chosen a "prochoice" running mate, I really don't know if this nation ever would have recovered from it: Obama would be in the White House, and the Republican Party would no longer be the prolife Party.
Thank God that didn't happen! Thank God McCain picked a solid, prolife, profamily candidate! She is also strong on the right to bear arms, strong on energy independence, (and even once said that schools ought to be able to teach both creationism and evolution so that open debates can be possible). I also like that she and her husband are personally open to life as well, since they have 5 children. :o) [My wife and I have 5 children as well, with the fifth little one due to be born in late September.]
Now, we can vote for John McCain!
P.S. More good news: The National Platform Committee for the Republican Party has voted to keep the wonderfully strong prolife plank in the Republican Party Platform, and expectations are that the delegates will approve it. Praise God!

As I read these great comments, I'm reminded of the song,"What A Difference A Day Makes". Last night, most of us were so disappointed and discouraged, and now we're all excited. Before today, the only thing I knew about Sarah Palin was that she is the Governor of Alaska. Now, the more I read other things about her, the more motivated I am to vote for Sen. McCain. Thank you Governor Huckabee, you have changed everything for me in this election. My eyes have been opened to look for truth myself and not blindly trust others.
I am disappointed it is not you, but I praise God that this is the next best choice. I was not going to vote for McCain and was not excited about this election at all. I will now vote for Senator McCain and Governor Palin, and will pray regarding what else I will do to support them in this election. I am so relieved that my decision is now made to support McCain.
I am ready should the call come for 2012 - it will only take me one second to respond this time. I will redouble my efforts next time to get you elected.

David Anderson -- Right after Obama picked Biden, I had a feeling that McCain would pick Palin, and that Leiberman woud be a really bad choice. Imagine having three old white guys and a young black guy as the candidates in the two parties. Obama would even look like the candidate of change then. With McCain-Palin/Omama-Biden, both parties have 'different' candidates. Yes, I think McCain picked Palin to help him get Hillary suporters and other women voters; but I don't think that's the only reason he picked her. I don't know much about her; but I heard her speech and it sounds like she has done some good things as governor of Alaska, like cutting spending and saying "no thank you" to the Bridge to Nowhere. During the veepstakes, I heard a few callers on the radio talk shows say that Palin had been a good governor. Now that it's official that Palin is the VP pick, I will contact people that I know in Alaska and ask them what they think of Palin. And anyone on this site who is from Alaska, please give us your thoughts on Sarah Palin!
P.S. - Deborah in Dayton: Today is McCain's birthday and Sarah & Todd Palin's 20th wedding anniversary. What she said in her speech about the suffragette movement is that she was accepting the nomination as VP almost 88 years to the day that women were given the right to vote. (I think that anniversary was earlier this week.)

Thank you so much, Mike, for keeping us in the loop. I pray that Sara Palin is the pick that was God inspired and I believe she is. I know that you will be staying active in the political arena and am so very grateful for that. My main prayer is that there can be a discussion of a FEDERAL Constitutional Amendment to keep marriage between ONE MAN and ONE WOMAN ONLY at the Republican Convention and that this goal will be part of the Republican Platform - AND THAT WE WILL WIN IN NOVEMBER!!

P.S. - I thought Sarah Palin hit it out of the ball park!
She looked at her notes, but talked directly to the American people!
McCain had to use his notes even to introduce Sarah Palin!
Sarah's family is adorable. That downs syndrome newborn will dampen Obama's pro-choice message.
Sarah said that today is not only John McCain's birthday but the anniversary of the suffragette movement.
Sarah acknowledge Geraldine Ferraro & Hillary Clinton's work on behalf of breaking that glass ceiling.
Sarah said we will break the glass ceiling now!
Sarah is for drilling in Anwar. She's a union member and a member of the NRA.
Sounds almost like a female version of Gov. Huckabee.
McCain made a good choice in Sarah Barracuda.
And we kept the pressure on and prevailed!
We'd rather have seen Huckabee, and McCain did throw conservatives under the bus in disrespecting Pastor Hagee and Pastor Parsley, 2 of Pres. Geo. W. Bush's good friends.
McCain was not our first pick, and life is not perfect, but Sarah had an 80% approval rating in Alaska.
If Huckabee can give McCain and Palin their talking points on how to rescue the economy and the NYSE which seems to have plummeted today the GOP may be able to ressurect itself.
Will be interesting. WE still need to keep the pressure on for good solid Supreme Court nominees.

Thank God Governor Huckabee led the way in bringing forward an unequivocal pro-life, pro-family message.
I don't think you realize how close we came to a Romney pick. Because of Gov. Huckabee and his team of loyal supporters emails to the media, we saved the country and caused a solid pro-life pick.
Good job HuckTeam!
The country may not be ready for the FairTax message yet, but they will be in 2012 after Huckabee appears as News Commentator or a FoxNews "Meet The Press" type news show.
Huckabee Supporters turned the tide and forced the GOP and McCain in a more conservative direction.
It was a fluke that allowed McCain to slip into the nomination, but we prevailed with our pro-life message.
Our work is still cut out for us to keep McCain on the right path.
We need to swing the balance of Congress to the right. John Bohener and Mike Turner need some help in Washington!
Good Job Rangers!
Our work has just begun!

I was proud to support you in Virginia, I drove out to Richmond to meet you, and I believe your future on the national stage is not over. Right now, his big announcement is more than an hour overdue from the scheduled time. I remember when he was to meet with President Bush at the White House after he was declared the "Presumptive' Nominee. The Press conference time was set, and all the press corps were there and seated. President Bush was there and who was missing? John McCain. President Bush did a little 'soft-shoe' to pass the time. (Which was cute as all get-out!) But McCain was late to meet the President!
Then, most recently, what a stir it caused, when he and Sen. Obama were to be at Saddleback at a scheduled time. It was show time, he was supposed to be in his 'sound-proof chamber' and he was no where to be found! Obama went on w/ Rick Warren, and McCain shows up sometime later, giving the Democrats lots of speculation to spread around that he heard the quesitons ahead of time. I don't believe he did, but it was problematic, and could have been totally avoided.
Now, here he is, late again. The man needs someone on staff to make sure he becomes more punctual, and quit being TARDY for everything. That can be a problem down the road.
Maverick or not, it's not funny, and very disrespectful!

O.K. - Now we can all collect ourselves and
take a deep breath. First, thank you Mike &
Janet for your leadership through these last
several weeks. Please continue to keep us all in the loop with the same messages like this blog...
Now, to all who regularly blog this site: esp.
Deborah-In-Dayton - We need your insight!
You had me concerned lately with the dire
tone of your comments. Your die-hard com-
mittment to Huck has put a lot of self-impos-
ed pressure on you! Keep thinking positive
and dig deeper for this stretch run. Let's
not just throw our hands up and abandon
the GOP. Let's hear Gov. Palin out and give
her the benefit of the doubt. As far as Mr.
McCain goes, he still has plenty to prove to
the independent/conservative voter. Now
he has the uphill battle to fight after the
Obama Dog & Pony Revue...The media is
hooked and is being reeled right in! This
needs to be countered immediately with
resounding answers and solutions. Hopefully
Romney will now stand with Huck to aid Mc-
Cain to knock "The Messiah" off his pedestal.
Welcome to the new names I'm seeing on this
blog as well. Keep the positive messages
flowing!!! -

We praise God for you, Governor Huckabee, as the prophetic voice and inspiring leader who has kept life, marriage and Israel in their proper place on the political stage. We know that the Lord has His highest plans on track for you, and we accept that He does not want your voice subdued by the restraints of the VP office. And, because of your courageous leadership even after the primaries, Senator McCain has had to choose a person in the Huckabee mold, rather than a weak or wavering or downright opposing selection. By God's grace, your sacrifices are bearing fruit and He will continue to use you greatly in ways beyond imagining.

I am so excited.
I have spoken with Hillary supporters I know said - it's not Romney and it is a smart strong woman - I am voting McCain - I was so excited to hear this.

Maxine, I am going to splurge today and go for that 2nd cup of coffee.
I believe Sarah Palin was the next best choice to Mike Huckabee. She seems like quite an interesting lady. Sort of a "no nonsense approach" and another maverick. Pro-life thank God!
MIKE HUCKABEE - GO 2012 !! Thanks again for all you have done and for your huge influence in that this selection turned out as well as it did !

Huckabee was my #1, of course, but Palin was my #2. I think our calls and the Lord's grace made a difference. He knew what we wanted and why we supported Huckabee.
Anyone know how she stands on Israel?
This will be such a blow to the feminists that supported Hillary because she is a woman. And for those supporting abortion because it is cruel to bring a less than perfect child into the world...........what a statement that all life is valued. Praise God!

I am willing to be persuaded otherwise, but my initial reaction is to conclude that McCain's staff just handed the election to Obama. I just can't believe that the women of America are so dumb as to be blind to the thinking behind the choice. The question was not "who is best suited to lead this country if McCain goes down?" It was "how can we steal Hillary's voters?" People with that kind of naked political mindset do not deserve to be in positions of responsibility. That is just a continuation of Karl Rove's amoral reasoning.

Gov. Huckabee,
I think you knew this was coming. As a matter of fact I wouldn't be surprised if you were in on it. The other night on Cobert you mentioned McCain wanted to pick a woman and then you brushed by it. I told my husband then his pick would be a woman. You have told us, and everyone else, all along, that you were not being vetted. I believed that. I was just hoping McCain wasn't being totally stupid.
This pick allows me to vote for McCain. It shows me that he is not in the pocket of the Bush elites. Had he picked Romney, I would have written in Huckabee.
We love you Governor and are glad and grateful for all that you do.
Your #1 Fan,
Regina

Mike Huckabee led the way for this - this could not have happened without his clarion voice on behalf of the unborn.
I'm a die-hard supporter of Mike Huckabee - and I'm very, very excited about this pick today. I'm proud to be a Republican woman today. This base is energized.
Gov. Huckabee, you are the reason this happened.

Huckabee won't be Secretary of State, because that would shut him out of another run for Presidency.
Hey, at least McCain is giving it his best shot. He has deflated a lot of Obama's talking points. Sarah's family will look as cute on stage as Obamas.
If the GOP base can't get out the vote like the Huckabee grassroots team could have, and we lose this presidential election, that will set Mike up for 2012 also.
We still need to move the base of power in the Senate, because no matter who is President, that is most important.
If by some miracle, McCain pulls this off, he will still have lobbyists as his Chiefs of Staff. We'll need to stay on our knees praying that McCain leans conservative in the White House and that Sarah Palin keeps him in line.

Beside Mike, I think Sarah Palin, from what I heard from the newsroom about her, seems a logic choice.
What we need to do now is to prepare to be ready at 2012 no matter who win the race at this time, so Mike will have the chance to be as the president of the United States not V.P..

Sarah Palin is accepatable to me. She's no Mike Huckabee, but she's pro-life and definitely way better choice than Romney.
