Yes. It's a violation of the principle of separation of church and state. 52%

No. The motto has historical and patriotic significance and does nothing to establish a state religion. 48%

HUCKABEE: ON HANNITY'S AMERICA--(sub-title: AS The World Turns According to Sean!)

If this was the Olympics, Mike Huckabee would have scored a perfect 10.0!!!! If John McCain doesn't pick Mike as his running-mate he has marbles in his head! I will seriously doubt McCain's decision making abilities if he does not see what an asset Gov. Huckabee would be for his campaign & Presidential victory!!!!

Sadly, MIke was not wearing a purple tie... I even tried to change the color on my T.V., and I still couldn't make it purple. (sad smile)

Gov. Huckabee said, "it was important for the President to be like-able". What presidential candidate was more LIKE-ABLE than Mike Huckabee???!!!!!!!!!

I LIKE MIKE! I LIKE MIKE!
COME ON MCCAIN, GET IT RIGHT!!!!!!!

    JULIEE 4 HUCKABEE PRES/ VP 2008!

Gov. Huckabee was excellent on Fox. after the Saddleback interview last-night! Unfortunately, he is still having to defend himself against the FALSE "Huckabee is anti-Romney" media assault. He has been VERY CLEAR that McCain needs to pick a pro-life VP!

After hearing McCain's responses last night, I don't believe he is going to pick a pro-choice VP. He promised to keep a pro-life platform as Pres. If he were to pick an abortion rights VP, that would appear (be) contradictory.

Surprisingly, I felt a little more comfortable with JM after the interview. He seemed more direct, real, and energetic; than I have seen previously. Compared to Obama, he appeared to be stronger & more experienced. I was pleased with his "life begins at conception" response.

My guess is JM will pick either Mike, Pawlenty, or Romney----or, some complete surprise like Duncan Hunter. (or someone else not being discussed!)

Hope you all are having a BLESSED Sunday!

As an update and to refute (to a degree) an earlier criticism, I had said that Rick Warren had set an agenda on four issues that stacked the deck in favor of Obama. I was so angry about that, I didn't watch the "show" myself; but I understand that Rick Warren's questionning of McCain and Obama did touch on abortion and the sanctity of marriage. My folks said McCain did a much better job and that Obama spent so much time rambling that he didn't get as many questions answered.

As much as I dislike McCain, I'm at least glad an Evangelical leader didn't give Obama a free pass, as it appeared Warren was trying to do. I'm still not a Rick Warren fan, but his stock did go up a bit after last night and also after he took the bazillions he made off his book, "The Purpose-Driven Life," and used it for charity rather than giving himself an expensive lifestyle. (But then, preachers who help give themselves six figure salaries are hugely suspect to me, anyway.)

  • Lee, Donna

    08/17/2008 05:37 PM

I'm confused. What are we doing using dollars to choose between three candidates all determined by Huckpac to be on the same side of conservative and family values? Let the voters choose and let us be focusing our energeries and resources on defeating candidates that do NOT carry the values of faith, family, and freedom. It appears from the comments that people on this site feel strongly about each of these candidates...that's a recipe for internal division. Not a good move, I think.

Good One, John Martin! You've got it right! McCain was using all of Huckabee's talking points at Saddleback Church.

Now if McCain chooses Huckabee as V.P. we will believe him. If he chooses pro-choice Tom Ridge, McCain was just preening for the cameras.

FoxNews will have 2 three-hour specials on Mon. & Tues. about Obama and McCain's personal lives and their past voting records.

That may bring some balance to the "Beauty Pageant" at Saddleback Church. Rick Warren's questions were good, but those were most definitely rehearsed answers.

McCain owes his popularity all to Mike Huckabee. McCain even bragged about how Huckabee went to Rawanda with Dr. Bill Frist and Cindy McCain!

McCain owes Huckabee a debt of gratitude that would be properly rewarded by choosing Mike as V.P.

McCain simply could not have pulled off that stunning performance, given his past voting record and his campaign filled with lobbyists who gave ownership of American companies to German Deutsche Post and France's Airbus, without Huckabee's help last night.

    McCain / Huckabee '08!

Pastor Rick Warren did an excellent job of interviewing Barack Obama and John McCain at Saddleback Church.

He got them to relax and open up. We may have heard who the candidates believe would be their best V.P. picks.

Obama mentioned Sam Nunn as one of his top people he would confer with in his administration (after his Mother, Grandmother and wife) and

McCain talked about Mike Huckabee going to Rawanda with Dr. Bill Frist, and we have heard no mention of Frist on the V.P. short list, but Huckabee has been talked about widely.

If the 2 senators were speaking prophetically from their hearts, it sounds like we could have an Obama/Nunn & a McCain/Huckabee ticket by the end of August.

Cool! Huckabee will be so well known that in 4 years, no one will be accusing him of being a "lightning rod" evangelical.

Huckabee and his wife are so much fun that a year of weekend news reporting will make the whole country fall in love with them.

McCain is an absolute moron not to pick Huckabee for V.P. I think McCain is in for a long 4 years if he even gets elected which is doubtful.

People hated his immigration reform, and almost shut down the D.C. switchboard protesting it!

If McCain chooses Tom Ridge for Veep, the evangelicals had better write in MIKE HUCKABEE or I will wonder what their problem is!

A recent Scripps article and Rep. Harrell’s Web site both portray her as a staunch advocate of securing our borders, energy independence with offshore drilling at home and strong pro-life policies. A review of her legislative record reveals she is no conservative. Throughout her career in the Legislature, she consistently pledged “never to violate a woman’s right to choose.” She has failed to repudiate her 2002 pro-abortion rights vote to kill the Infant Born Alive Protection Act. Rep. Harrell sponsored the Learning Gateway Bill that then-Gov. Jeb Bush vetoed because of “risk of infringing on parental and family rights ...”
In 2004, Rep. Harrell was the primary sponsor of a bill that empowered the government to seize private property without the owner’s consent for use by developers. Fortunately, this bill failed. During her eight years in the Legislature, Rep. Harrell failed to rise to a position of conservative leadership. During her first seven years in the Legislature, she failed to champion the conservative issues in her current platform. It was not until her eighth year, and after announcing her candidacy for Congress, that she unsuccessfully sponsored legislation to crack down on illegal immigrants.
Rep. Harrell’s election-year conservative epiphany is politics as usual.

"Governor Huckabee's commitment to Israel is legendary," said Hikind. "He is one of the great American leaders whose support of the Jewish state is inviolable." His political views on Arabs in the Middle East are welcome by Israeli nationalists. Huckabee told CNN in January, "It would be very problematic for Israel to give up the West Bank, from their own standpoint of security. The same thing with the Golan Heights--giving up the Golan Heights makes most of the Galilee a sitting target." http://www.israelnationalnews.com/News/News.aspx/127205

    Young voters Likes Huckabee!!!

Young people make voices heard in Iowa- Young voters said both Obama and Huckabee made concerted efforts to reach out to them, and they were rewarded: Huckabee took 38 percent of the vote among Republican caucus-goers 17 to 24 years old, according to a Fox News entrance poll, compared with 22 percent for Mitt Romney, former governor of Massachusetts. http://www.boston.com/news/nation/articles/2008/01/05/young_people_make_voices_heard_in_iowa/

Barack Obama, Mike Huckabee's Iowa Caucus Wins Are Largely Thanks To Young Voters- It was a turnout that surprised most, and one that carried significant weight. Young caucus-goers supported both winners — Democratic Senator Barack Obama and Republican Governor Mike Huckabee — by the largest margins of any age group: 57 percent for Obama, and 40 percent for Huckabee, according to CNN entrance polls. Read MTV http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/1579042/20080104/id_0.jhtml

In Georgia, where Obama and Huckabee took home wins, young voters tripled their turnout this year, with more than 280,000 individuals casting a ballot Tuesday, compared to approximately 92,000 ballots cast in 2000. Obama secured 75 percent of the youth vote, over Clinton's 23 percent, while Huckabee's 43 percent overpowered former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney's 24 percent.

Youth turnout was the difference between a win and a loss in several states on Tuesday. In Missouri, where youth voter turnout tripled, Obama won by just 10,000 votes; 75,000 young people threw their support behind his candidacy. In the same state, 45,000 young people pulled the lever for Huckabee, far surpassing his 23,000 vote margin of victory.

Clinton took 44 percent of the under-30 vote in Tennessee, while Obama claimed 53 percent. Former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee captured 38 percent of the youth vote and won the state, while Arizona Senator John McCain claimed 25 percent

*Morals and family Goes to Huckabee!!!

Huckabee has closed in on McCain in the final days in recent primaries in places like Virginia, Tennessee, and Georgia. Those states, like Wisconsin, all show a significant number of Republican voters who list moral and family values as their biggest issue when deciding who to vote for President. Huckabee leads that group 70-18 in Wisconsin.

    And

According to Zogby International's recent poll of likely voters, 46 percent of white born-again/evangelical voters, 32 percent of white Protestants, and 28 percent of white Catholics say choosing Mike Huckabee as a running mate would make them more inclined to vote for John McCain. --

***Rasmussen Report**** Huckabee has Highest Favorables among Possible McCain Veep Choices The names most frequently in circulation these days are former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney, who challenged McCain for the GOP presidential nomination, and two sitting governors, Charlie Crist of Florida and Tim Pawlenty of Minnesota. But a new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that the the possible Republican running mate with the highest favorable ratings among voters – Mike Huckabee is not even on most of the short lists currently being discussed. In the new survey, Huckabee, a former Arkansas governor, rates highest, with nearly half of voters (47%)
I could go on & on but the list would be to long.
****Now that's what I have been trying to tell the GOP!!! Pick Huckabee for the win but for some reason they can't see what we see or they just don't want to!!! Then when you try and warn them that they running into a ditch they make us into the enemy!!!!

    Brave ones--

For those of you who live outside of Congressional district 16 along with those who live here in south florida, there is some profoundness in the expression " an apple dose not fall far from the tree " and so goes the Tom Rooney family ties to gambling & gaming (dog track). We have been fighting the proliferation of gambling here for ever. The last thing we need is a US Congressman whose family has ownership in it.

That leaves Harrell & Valeche. Harrell won the endorsement of America PAC, an immigration-enforcement-focused political action committee headed up by retiring U.S. Rep. Tom Tancredo (R-Colo.), according to the Palm Beach Post. Throw in her record, and the fact that she supports the " Fair Tax" and it's a NO BRAINER for me... she has got my vote for HuckPac and will receive the votes of our family members whom live in Martin county ( dist#16).
Valeche... putting spin on Harrells abortion vote just seems low & cheap...I can't trust him.

I voted for Tom Rooney. I hope he won't neglect spending some time with his 3 boys when he gets elected in office.

IF HILLARY CAN DO IT. WHY NOT HUCKABEE?!!

The way this election appears to be unfolding, it looks like our only option is for, Mike Huckabee, to be named as the alternative choice for the Presidential Nominee at the Republican Convention.

I believe it was Newt Gingrich last-night on Fox. that said if McCain picked Lieberman as his VP, it would be a disaster; because he is not pro-life. He said there would be an uprising on the convention floor. He went on to say, that the delegates did not have to go along with the presidential nominee's VP pick!

I did not know this. If McCain picks a pro-choice VP, there could potentially be a revolt on the floor. Enter Mike Huckabee!

There can be a request for a Roll Call
Vote for Huckabee, as the Presidential Nominee. So I am assuming, that there must be some similar process for the VP spot?

If McCain chooses a pro-choice VP, he is giving us no other option!!!

Something to think about! God Bless!

    HUCKABEE 4 PRESIDENT/VP 2008!

McCain is taking our names when we call to make sure the same 3 people aren't calling in every day asking for Huckabee for Vice President.

We need to call every Talk Radio Show Host in America for 2 weeks straight and tell live audiences all across America to call John McCain and tell him we need Huckabee for President.

Romney will send our jobs to European AirBus and DHL Deutsche Post.

Huckabee will repair our unsafe bridges and put the National Guard on the southern border to stop the Mexican militia and drug cartel and will help us drill for oil here in America!

I just read your post Janine and agree entirely with your statement.

I cannot believe that anyone had the effrontery to suggest that Rooney is running a "Romney like campaign".

I cannot imagine even mentioning the two names in the same sentence. Rooney was out campaigning, meeting with small conservative groups, anyone who would listen - a year ago. He's been working hard and he elucidates on his position without equivocating as do politicians like Romney.

I have been accused (I believe falsely) of having a poison-pen when it comes to Romney. I take issue with that because as we all know, anyone who dares to enumerate on the veritable litany of Romney flip-flops gets attacked for "religious bigotry" by the Romney machine, including his chamber pot boy Sean Hannity.

Never mind the fact that you probably never mentioned Romney's religion in your expose, you must have been motivated by biggotry because Hannity & Mitt look upon the heart. They know every hair on your head... His campaigners are taking the liberal victimization play book.

Listening to Hannity's campaign speech tonight regarding Romney makes me wonder how he can respect himself in the morning. I don't get it but there is something unhealthy going on there.

Nevertheless, I think I've established myself as a Romney critic going back to the early primary. You can go to my site at www.tableofwisdom.com and watch the Romney video I threw together back in December 07.

My point is that I know all about the Republican "Slick Willey" Mitt Romney - and I can say with confidence that Tom Rooney does not deserve to be slandered by such an underhanded comparison.

I believe Gayle Harrell is the candidate HuckPAC should endorse. She is the only candidate who has a 100% pro-life voting record.

    HUCKABEE FOR PRESIDENT!

John McCain just emailed me asking for $25 million in 30 days and this is what I replied:

    John McCain at johnmccain@gop.com

There is no way that you will get one penny of my money until you choose MIKE HUCKABEE as VICE PRESIDENT!

I worked very hard trying to get Mike Huckabee elected, and he is the ONLY ONE worthy of such an important job.

MIKE HUCKABEE is the ONLY ONE who CAN SPEAK PUBLICLY! No one else on the V.P. list has any public speaking abilities, including yourself!

MIKE HUCKABEE IS CHOSEN BY GOD TO BE PRESIDENT OR VICE PRESIDENT THIS YEAR.

IF YOU INSULT GOD BY CHOOSING ANYONE ELSE, YOU WILL SURELY LOSE THIS YEAR'S ELECTION.

    SO SAYS, PROPHETESS, JUDGE DEBORAH

In consideration of her pro-life voting record and endorsements, Hal Valeche's campaign claim that Gayle Harrell had voted against Born Live Legislation rang untrue. I inquired the Harrell camp of their rational for voting against the bill. They replied that Gayle voted against a poorly written original draft that would have had unintended consequences for Florida. She fully supported the re-written version that became law. Valeche's gerrymandering of the facts to produce a false conclusion reeks of the kind of politics I want to avoid in the GOP. To me, Harrell is the only choice for conservative voters.

Do not believe various efforts of misinformation by some posters. Tom Rooney has not, I repeat, has not run in any media format any type of negative attack on either of his primary opponents. Certain people here are insistent that he is running a Romney like campaign. I challenge those who say he is running negative ads to produce proof of a Rooney sanctioned negative ad.
The only people who have gone negative in this campaign are Valeche (officially) and various bloggers (unofficially.)

As a South Floridian, I've had the chance to talk with Tom Rooney on many occassions. He's a humble gentleman and a true conservative.

    He also has great credentials.
