Why I Am Pro-Life

To understand how passionately I will fight for pro-family and pro-life issues in Washington, I believe it would help if you knew my personal story.

Months before a 16-year old named Jennifer was to give birth she was forced into isolation as a social outcast. The year was 1968, and against all outside pressure Jennifer chose life. On June 25, 1969 she gave birth to me, and three days later I was adopted by Dan and Vicci Puckett. I was told of my birthmother at a young age, and consequently developed a strong pro-life stance early on.

Though I grew up in a loving Christian home, my lifestyle as a teenager did not always honor God. When I was 18 years old I found out that my girlfriend MaryBeth was pregnant, the lesson and example my birthmother set for me was put to the test. MaryBeth and I chose life, and we were married four months after the birth of our oldest daughter Victoria.

Three children and 20 years later, MaryBeth and I could not be happier, and we have worked hard to pass the same pro-life ideals on to our children (though hopefully it is a few years down the road before they have the opportunity to choose life J).

Out first television advertisement (seen at www.puckett08.com) accurately describes the priorities in my life: husband, father, small business owner, missionary.  My life’s work has involved spreading strong Christian values at the local, national, and international level, and I pledge to do the same when elected to the United States Congress. I will never forget the lessons learned from my own life, and will never abandon the values taught by our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

It is so great to have some one that will stand up for our values in the 2nd Congressional district of Indiana. It has been so nice to meet you the few times we met.

Mr. Puckett, thank you for your wise words today, and your sacrificial service to our Lord and this country. Being a public servant is a high calling in the Lord's establishment of civil government, and we pray for His blessing and guidance in your life.

Sir, I would like to thank you for your story and your passionate commitment to this critical issue that is so close to God's heart. I would also like to let you know that you have been added to my list of 'Josiah endorced candidates' and that I look forward to fighting with you on the campaign. I have no capital to offer and live too far away to physicaly help you in your efforts but I will do what I can. And what I can do is pray! You seem to be someone who would recognise and aknowledge the power of prayer and it will be my pleasure to intercede for you daily during the campaign.

Thank you, sir, for your post and for your stand for life. I grew up in Warsaw, IN, just east of your district. Wish I could be up there now to help with your race! I would strongly encourage any of you there in the 2nd district (or closeby!) to get behind Mr. Puckett in this race. I was not familiar with the one-term Democrat currently holding office, but after visiting his website, I have learned he belongs to the Blue Dog Coalition and evidently tries to be moderate enough to get both the South Bend Democrats and the more conservative Hoosiers from the rest of his district...a tricky strategy often necessary for Democrats in that part of the state. Mr. Puckett needs our support!

    Luke Puckett,

Wow! Thanks so much for sharing this beautiful story and the right choice you made for your family was commendable. Thank God that you were raised in a Christian home.

I also wish I could vote for you. I wish you and your family victory and success as you seek public office.

    God Bless you!

    Your story touched my heart.

I wish I could vote for you--but I live in Missouri, so I'm grateful to Mike Huckabee for creating HuckPAC to allow us all to support your campaign. God bless you and your family--you will be a blessing to your state.

It is so good to hear stories of people who choose to do the right thing... and the blessings these babies have become to their families and society. :)

I remember I didn't choose the right thing 32 years ago, and I've regretted it every day since.....I used to even calculate "my baby would be ___ years old if I hadn't..."

I have since become a Christian (am married and have 2 kids, God is good) and know that God has forgiven me, but I still feel so ashamed and don't share much about it to people, although I feel very strongly about abortion and deeply believe and know that life does begin at conception. I will never be convinced otherwise

Thanks for sharing this with us, Luke.

    Mr. Puckett,

Thank you so much for sharing that story. I have such a similar story, except, I made the wrong choice the first time and got an abortion without my mother's permission and have regretted it. However, the 2nd time (hadn't learn my lesson just yet) I chose the right and my daughter is now a freshman at the University of Arizona.

I have started a petition for a Federal Human Life Amendment. I challenge you to sign my petition and take a stand with me:

How I wish elected officials at all levels would choose life instead of death.

    Nice story, Luke.

Thank you for sharing it. I'm especially glad that you and MaryBeth were able to forge a strong and happy family.
