The last year has been a wild one to say the very least. The transition from the campaign to the real world was not exactly an easy one, but being able to remain a part of the process has helped make the transition a bit more bearable. We went from being in a different city every day to working the majority of our days not only in the same city but the same office. We went from a close family style staff of about 35 people to a small but dedicated staff of 5.
Although our mission is similar our atmosphere has been quite different. The hours are often still long, but part of the adrenaline rush that keeps you going during those hours is gone. However, the five of us that are here are finding new ways to discover that rush and continue the fight we all began just over a year ago.
Over the last four months since Huck PAC started our new team has worked to continue spreading my dad's message of conservative values and promote good Republican candidates that share those same values. We may not be the largest PAC around or the one raising the most money, but if you ask our team you would know the belief that a small, dedicated, team driven by conviction doesn't let size and money deter them from starting each day hoping to make an impact somewhere.
My family has been blessed by many people over the last decade and half since my dad first entered public office - it has always amazed me how many people are willing to sacrifice themselves thru time, money, and energy to fight for what they believe in. We have seen this time and again on the campaign trail and now through the PAC.
The PAC has allowed us to connect with numerous campaigns of all types all over the country and we are working hard to reach out to many more. Thanks to so many of you who have supported our efforts financially, through suggestions and comments on the blog, and ideas that you present us each day. Because of the online community we have been able to contribute directly to over 25 great candidates and conservative organizations and my dad has been able to travel to Florida, Georgia, Montana, Iowa, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Mississippi, Kentucky, Texas, Colorado and Arkansas to campaign for Huck PAC endorsed candidates and speak as a surrogate for Sen. McCain. There are already several events on the books for him to campaign for other candidates over the next couple of months leading up to the November elections. Even though my dad is no longer a candidate he and our team here at Huck PAC are still working hard to promote the messages and values he talked about daily during the campaign.
Awhile back a little girl walked into a post office with her father and was asking non-stop questions about all the mailboxes, stamp machines, and packaging materials but stopped and paused for a minute when she came to a big bulletin board full of several dozen pictures. After staring at the pictures for several seconds she asked her dad why these people's pictures were up in the post office. Not wanting to frighten the little girl the father responded as delicately as possible telling her they were the people the government is looking for more than anyone else because they have done something wrong. The little girl thought for a second and as innocently as she could asked "Daddy, if they are looking for them so much, why didn't they just keep them when they took their picture?"
Unfortunately, it's not quite that simple and as I am sure many of you know being involved in the political process is not always that easy either. It takes a lot out of those that are running for office, their families, their staffs, and those that volunteer for their campaigns. Huck PAC is lucky to have some of the greatest and hardest workers you will ever find. I wanted you to know who the people were behind the phones you call, emails and letters you all receive, that get my dad to and from events, plan events, and find and promote good candidates. An organization can only be strong if its team is strong and I would put our meager bunch up against any one out there. I asked each person on our staff here to tell a bit about what they do and who they are. I hope you will each take time to meet this group (via this post) and keep them in your prayers as they help make the PAC and its journey possible.
With you in the Fight,
Sarah Huckabee
Executive Director of Huck PAC
Judith Crouch - Office Manager for Huck PAC
"I am the office manager for Huck PAC. I oversee everyday operations and make sure the rent and bills are paid on time. I am well acquainted with multi-tasking so I can jump in and help with any project that needs an extra hand to make a deadline. I have chosen to work for Huck PAC because it is based on principals I believe in - life, family, education, and pursuit of happiness." Judith Crouch
Judith has worked for my dad as far back as I can remember. Judith helped my dad when he was a pastor back in Texarkana, AR and followed him to the Governor's office, numerous campaigns, and now keeps all of us kids in line. She makes sure we are all ok on the road, fed in the office, and most importantly makes sure we fill all of our forms out for everything properly and on time. She is like the grandmother (except way too young to be a grandmother) that takes care of us all. Without her running the day to day operations, we wouldn't still be in business.
Drake Jarman - Finance Director for Huck PAC
" As Huck Pac's Finance Director, I oversee all incoming finances-from online contributions to direct mail to fundraisers. We had a very successful First Quarter surpassing our goals and expectations and are enjoying a solid start to our Second Quarter. The response from the Critical Issues Survey has been overwhelming and we are in the process of tabulating them-the results are confirming that our message of Faith, Family and Freedom is alive and well.
Personally, I grew up in Nashville, TN, and graduated from Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, NC. Prior to Joining Team Huckabee in March of 2007, I worked in South Carolina as the Campaign Manager for Lieutenant Governor André Bauer. For the Presidential Campaign, I served as the Governor's Travel Aide or "Body Guy" and traveled the country coast to coast (sometimes in consecutive days) with the Governor. If you met the Governor on the Campaign Trail, I was not far behind.
Being a member of Governor Huckabee's team has been a truly rewarding experience and I would like to thank you for making what we do possible." Drake Jarman
Like Drake (the Duck as we call him around here) said he traveled with my dad during the campaign all over the country. Drake immediately took on the role of several people and a great deal of responsibility - never complaining about doing even the smallest jobs on little or no sleep. With his constant presence he quickly became more like a part of our family than a staff member. His meticulous nature (we tease him about this often) makes him an effective and efficient Finance Director. He has been aggressive and tireless in his efforts and we are grateful to have him on loan (hopefully for a long time) from the Volunteer state. And with "the Duck" quacking (literally) around in the office, there is never a dull moment.
David John - Deputy Director
"As Deputy Director of Huck PAC, I'm involved in a number of areas, including coordinating our efforts supporting candidates endorsed by Huck PAC as well as helping with media relations for the Governor. I joined Huck PAC directly from the Governor's Presidential Campaign, where I traveled with the Governor and Mrs. Huckabee, working with local campaign personnel and facilitating their appearances. I was fortunate enough to travel with Mrs. Huckabee all across the United States, including trips to Montana, and even Alaska. I had the wonderful opportunity to intern for Governor Huckabee during my college years in his D.C. office. I'm originally from Connecticut, and proud of it, but I'm significantly outnumbered down here. I've slowly been making my way south; first by attending college in Virginia, and now residing in Arkansas." David John
David may not be from the South but he definitely has southern charm. His good-nature and eager to please attitude make working with him an enjoyable experience no matter what kind of day we are having. Even though David is a "Yankee" (I know I use this term too loosely) he has fit in with this Southern-born team perfectly. He knows more random facts about more random things than just about anyone I know, therefore keeping us constantly informed of the world around us. David keeps me organized and always reminds me of everything because I tend to get busy and forget things easily. I'd be lost without him, not to mention he can solve a Rubix in less than 2 minutes!
Wendy Dooley - Executive Assistant and Scheduler for Mike Huckabee
"Growing up in a small town in rural Northeast Arkansas where the campaigns for county sheriff and local school board often overshadowed the election for the President of the United States, I never imagined a career even remotely related to politics. I followed in the footsteps of my mother and grandmother and taught public school for four and a half years before finding myself in the Administrative Office of the Arkansas Governor's Mansion. It was there that I fell in love with politics and The Huckabees. After Governor Huckabee left office in January 2007, like many Americans I found myself struggling to find employment. When a position opened up at the Huckabee campaign, I jumped at the opportunity. I held various positions from receptionist to Janet Huckabee's scheduler. Currently, I work as Executive Assistant to Governor Huckabee. I love it! If you ask me what my duties include, I would have to say "Well, today they are..." It is such a blessing to work with and for someone that reflects my personal beliefs and values." Wendy Dooley
Thank goodness for Wendy when it is time for an office birthday - she is the only one in the group who can carry a tune. In fact Wendy comes from an entire family of musicians and you can often hear her singing away while slaving over calendars and invitations. A scheduler is probably one of the most unsung heroes in an office. Not many people pay the attention to the scheduler until something goes wrong. She works around the clock helping rebook canceled flights and making last minute changes to keep my dad informed and on time. If you ever call our office and hear a friendly southern voice on the other line, you've probably found Wendy because she can be nice to even the rudest callers. But even better than her voice is her homemade oatmeal crème pies (that we obviously never eat in my dad's presence!)!
P.S. Even though these are the only people in this office every day there are several people that keep this ship afloat and without them we wouldn't make it. Chris Maiorana runs all of our online efforts and goes above and beyond in these efforts. Chip Saltsman, our campaign manager acts as a constant source of advice, guidance, help and sometimes a person to lean on when I'm freaking out. We have had a great intern this summer in Korosh Saba, a junior at the University of Arkansas. He has spent countless hours working on the most tedious and time consuming projects that no one likes to do and he has not complained once. There are tons of other that keep the PAC going - most importantly those that support us through contributions, posts on the blog, support for Huck PAC candidates and most of all your prayer. Thanks for everything all of you do and we look forward to working with you in these final months to get as many Huck PAC candidates elected to office.

Sarah,
I enjoyed your post. It's nice to be able to vision what you all do behind the scenes of HuckPac. I know you all work hard, and it's greatly appreciated what you all do and go through in order to fight for our values and the issues. I'm glad you shared with us the people that work with you. Keep on keeping on.

Sara, thank you for sharing, by writing a great post. It was good to see through your writing what goes on behind the scenes. Your post is appreciated.
I always looked forward to watching your dad in the Presidential debates, on the news and on Morning Joe. I was hoping to see him in a debate with John McCain prior to the March Ohio and Texas primaries.
You have a great father and Arkansas had a great Governor for ten plus years. Dottie and I looked forward to all the posts and video clips on the mikehuckabee web site.
Thank you for giving us easy access to the huckpac site and assisting to bring us Verical Day.
I hope you continue to put updates on huckpac when your dad is on TV or Radio.
Over the months I have made several comments and usually include a link to the speech your dad gave at the Fair Tax Rally in Jacksonville Florida. Here it is, I believe it is still accessible.
I would like to share the following link. A video of Mike Huckabee giving a Fair Tax speech in Feb 2008 (25 minutes of Fair Tax rally in Jacksonville Fl filmed by channel 4).

I just want to say thanks for Vertical Day. I am an independent voter who remains uncertain of who I will vote for in November, but I want you to know your camp had my vote in the primary. If Huck were on McCain's ticket he would get my vote hands down. As it is, I am now undecided. I did, however appreciate learning about some stands that are being taken by the bloggers listed today and some of the stands give me some hope. I think forming this PAC and getting the messages on line was a great way to go for citizens after the primary. I hope you all are getting a great sense of satisfaction out this form of Public Service.

Sarah, Been a busy summer here in Ky, Garden, Blackberries...the cobbler kind..pickles, tomatoes, ect. about our everyday uneventful lives in the Country..Our Prayers are with the entire Huckabee Family and Staff...For your Safety & EnduranceI..be Ye steadfast! I am also praying for John McCain, his family and his staff that God will place a vision in his heart, a vision of what this country really needs...to get off of the road that will lead to destruction and epower the voters with a cause greater than self..with real honest straight talk...People are searching for something and few have found it...We are so blessed to be able to live in a nation that wasn't handed its freedom, but many have paid the ultimate sacrifice ... despite our failures and short comings we are still the GREATEST Nation on earth...Honestly I am also praying that he will pick the Governor for his running mate...giving all voters the opportunity to get to know your Dad... I just finished reading his book "From Hope to Higher Ground" I couldn't put it down...Some people say he is the greatest since Ronald Regan...I beg to differ..I truly believe he is greatest!! His campaign slogan won me over..."Faith-Family & Freedom" all in the right order....I sometimes get discouraged when listening the news.....lately I have been very disturbed with Fox News and all the pundents who think they know what is best for this great country ...they complain of the unfair treatment that John McCain is getting with all the liberal news media and how they are fair and balanced? They have only touted Mitt Romney as the only logical VP candidate for months (after they finally caved in & admitted that he had actually lost the Nominaton to McCain...Shame on Fox News! Voters are not stupid...we can see thru the smoke screen....Well Best to All... Prayers and Thanks for what you are all doing for this great country! Servants Indeed! Until His return

Dear Sarah: thank you for all you do. I am 65 years old and so disapointed in our world today. This past week, the lady whom I have taken care of for 10 years (and lived in my home), died in a hospital where they don't reverence life. It has been a nightmare!! She was always a Democrat but a strong Christian. She recently changed over to being a Republican because of her strong moral values. She loved your dad and of course, now was going to vote for John McCain. I am having a hard time dealing with the death this loved one who went into the hospital for a one day routine procedure but just because the hospital believes that we should "help people die without pain," regardless of the patient's wishes, theyI ignored the fact that even though she was 76 yrs old, she was pretty healthy. I am am so sorry to say that you have lost the vote of a faithful one. But that's just the point I want to make. We believe in the sanctity of life.....they don't. GM Jabbora

Gotta chime in here. Chris is awesome. I probably email him once a week with some issue or concern about the site and he hasn't sicced the dogs on me yet.
He's wonderful to deal with, even the couple of times I've run afoul of him.
He is a definite asset to Team HuckPAC, as apparently are all the men and women behind the scenes. Great job, everyone!

Sarah, thanks for the introductions and comments. It's encouraging to know that so much is still being done to advance the causes and positions so articulately expressed by your dad during his campaign. We still have hope that he will be our President in the future. And we are thankful that all of you are doing so much to enrich the candidacy of those who share our values.
May God richly bless us all through your efforts and ours!Judie Mills Taber

I appreciate your hard work and dedication especially this organization. I enjoy reading information that is not biased or propaganda. I may not at this time give fianancially, but can give encouragement at this time. I really liked following the news in the early campaign of your father, especially seeing him minister a week on the daily broadcast of The Believers Voice of Victory of Kenneth Copeland Ministries. He has a lot of wisdom and I know it is not that popular to receive to a lot of American's, especially those who have believed the lies of the enemy. Your cause is worthy and worth the pressing in. Your reward is comming in this life and the next. Please give my support and encouragement to the rest of your organization. I am praying for unity and revival in this country.

Sarah,
Great to hear the introductions! I was often bounced around on the phone before and was glad to be introduced to some people by name, now its great to hear the background and personality behind it! I've talked to Wendy many times during the campaign.
David - Good to hear another Connecticut native down there! If ya need anything from home, let me know! The ship seems to be in order for the time being, but give the word and we'll get it done. Actually... we could use a compass up here.

Sarah, I must say that you gave a good testimony. I see how God has blessed you guys with such talented and wonderful people. I'll try to remember them in my prayers, although it is tough beating my flesh up. It was an honor fighting for your dad's election, even though the game was over before the fight started.
I will be honst to say that the only condition I will vote for McCain is if he chooses your dad as his running mate. I'm saying that because I know that your dad can provide godly counsel to McCain has a vice president.
I am also happy that you and your staff are working hard for the Huckpac endorsed candidates. I will keep your efforts in prayers, if I can. God bless you guys.

The Blessing ahs been ours Sarah, to have shared the Truth with the World coming from your Father and his Presence that has instilled many of us to step out of our box and do what has to be done.
What you and all have accomplished in such a short time is amazing and bodes well for the future of this just begun campaign. The Quest we have before us has drawn many and will continue to do so. Truth shall prevail.
God Bless You and all the Staff.

Sarah and HuckPak staff, many thanks for staying "on board" to promote the conservative cause and vertical politics for this nation. I know Mike is grateful for all your hard work and so am I. The seeds we are planting in various states will be hopefully produce "good fruit" with the right people elected to guide and lead their region. I believe we are the people who will bring about a new political revolution and spiritual renewal in America and your efforts will be rewarded. God bless Mike and each person on his team.

WOW! How wonderful of you to let us "see" you. As you write, Sarah, I'm reminded of the story in Scripture when Israel returned from Babylonian captivity and rebuilt the temple. But there were people among them who wept because they remembered the splendor of the Temple built by Solomon. That apparently humble structure, no doubt, felt like a bit of a let down; even, perhaps, a defeat. But they were reminded not to "despise the day of small things," for God knew that in time, there would be a physical temple even greater than Solomon's and ultimately, a spiritual temple where the glory of God that once dwelt in the Holy of Holies would one day even dwell in the hearts of men and women.
As these men and women looked at the little house of worship, they had no way of knowing God's amazing plan. Like them, we have no way of knowing God's ultimate plan for your father's service and for your work in helping him. But we know this...even in these small beginnings, moral America has been given a glimmer of hope. Frankly, I don't think it is outside the realm of God's possibility that your dad could still be America's President IN 2008! But if not, he and you and your mom and all who have sacrificed and supported him have been part of a new beginning. We may endure hard times. We may suffer under bad leadership for a time. But I believe we will rejoice as we see God's plan unfold. Your little "5-piece-band" may be changing the course of history. Thanks for all you do.

Hey Sarah,
It's great you put a personal face on HuckPAC and gave the readers a behind-the-scenes look.
You and I only met once on the campaign trail since you were living in Iowa and I was was volunteering in NH. Drake, on the other hand, knows more about me than I am comfortable with ;>). He's an asset as a Finance Director - pun intended.
Truly as your blog title declares, IT IS A FAMILY. Working for your Dad was like working for a brother. I always felt his gratitude. Accompanying me at many events was my 12 year old daughter Kendall. Your dad always had a big hug for her - "it's a Sarah thing" was the comment of one staffer.
On the last eve of the NH primary - after the crowd had left the ballroom and the camera crews were breaking down - your Dad assembled a handful of us together for a few words and called us his "family".
The word "family" applied in a political action committee may make us sound "Mom and Pop" and therefore meaningless. Nothing could be farther from the truth. The "family" of Huckabee supporters have made political history in 2008. It is my belief that this family will continue to impact the direction of this nation. We've just started.

Thanks, Sarah, and all the rest of the team!
Your post reminded me, among other things, of David John's instrumental help in Virginia, during the primaries. He was part of the team that headed up the gathering of signatures to get Governor Huckabee on the VA ballot. Virginia has, by far, the most difficult requirements of all the states.
I never got to thank David for his work here. It meant a great deal to us to be able to vote for Mike!

Many thanks for putting a name and face to HuckPAC.
I saw Drake in Florida and New Hampshire with Gov.Huckabee wherever he went. When I would talk to him, he would always nod politely, and say, "Yes Ma'am, Yes, Ma'am".
Sarah, I enjoyed that picture that was posted here during the primaries of you and your dad working on the plane, looking very busy and focused. Your bond and special relationship was obvious.
