Marriage Under Assault

The last year has been one of transition for the Lager family. My wife
Stephanie and I were blessed with our first child in the fall, Addison
Marie.

Addison is a sweetheart, a very good-natured little girl and her
presence has truly reaffirmed and strengthened my belief that we must
defend the traditional family. Marriage and the family unit are under
assault in America today.

The courts, from Massachusetts to California, are working to redefine
marriage out of existence. Our government is spending too much, making
it harder for families to afford the necessities, like gas and food, and
burdening our children with debt. In an era of tremendous
challenges-from international terrorism, to a weakening economy, to
skyrocketing oil prices- we need to make sure we get the fundamentals
right.

We must begin by strengthening the family, not tearing it down.

The November election will be a defining election for our children's
future. Let us not forget who we are fighting for.

Brad Lager from Missouri, is a candidate for State Treasurer.  You can learn more about his campaign here.

As a Tennessean and a Christian, I just want to say I agree. Homosexuality is a sin against God and violence against man. It destroys people. Marriage is not merely a man instituted decree to formalize some sexual relationship, it is given by the Lord God himself and is not subject to the ever changing opinions of man. When our government reflects the values of God then we may rest, until then there will be but turmoil. Jesus Christ is the Lord.

Keep up the fight for basic, biblical, common-sense living in the great state of Missouri and beyond. Our leaders are losing touch with basic reality and need voices such as yours to help them out. Thanks again, ja

The belief of family and marriage commitment is what our country was based on. Every society in history can point to the decimation of the family as their point of no return. When no one has the gumption to honor commitments made how will anything get done. Marriage between a man and woman is a moral issue. Unless homosexuality is taught to be a sin like it is stated in the Bible the morality of marriage between a man and woman will not persevere. This can be pinpointed directly to the Bible and prayer being taken out of school. If for no other reason the Bible should have been left for it's morality teaching. Forget trying to teach Christianity over other religions. The Bible is a very moral book which is what all of our founding fathers based the constitution on. The Bible is our countries moral compass and since it's been taken out 3 generations of kids haven't gotten much moral teaching or learned that Jesus Christ is the Son of GOD and the only way to heaven. Without moral absolutes anyone can do anything or be anything regardless of right or wrong. 3 generations haven't been taught absolute right and wrong. The 10 commandments are all that a society needs to survive. If the past 4 generations had been taught the value in school and home of the 10 commandments our society wouldn't be what it is today.

I agree. I thank God that I live in a good family that others can model, except when me, my brother and sister are at each others throats. It is very important that we fight for our families and I will do my best for this cause.

    For Christ I stand,

Senator Lager, thank you for your wise words today, and your sacrificial service to our country. Being a public servant is a high calling in the Lord's establishment of civil government, and we pray for His blessing and guidance in your life.

Madeline, I love your idea to call it "Organic Marriage!"

Like organic vegetables! Natural, in contrast to genetically modified vegetables (well, actually "organic" in vegetables refers to the lack of pesticides, and I think it is possible to have genetically engineered seeds farmed "organically", but it is still a great analogy).

There is a new fight about to be fought over genetic engineering of human beings, and one of the first inroads to force us to accept genetic engineering is engineering children for same-sex couples. They are already claiming a right to attempt same-sex conception using engineered "female sperm" or "male eggs". In fact, many gay rights activists insist on that right more than they value federal recognition.

I think same-sex couples should not have conception rights, we should enact a law prohibiting creating children by any means other than joining a man and a woman's unmodified sperm and egg. Organic.

I also think all marriages should continue to protect the couple's right to join their genes to create offspring together, no marriage shoudl be prohibited from conceiving together. Those together would rule out same-sex marriage, and preserve marriage as "organic marriage", and stop human genetic engineering before we waste too much more time and money researching it.

When Voting for President of the USA its set up in delegates for the reason that just one state with a large population does not elected the Pres.
The delegate system spreads it out so the whole country has a fair say. SO Why is it that one court in one state is allowed to influence the whole country. This seems unfair. The courts have lost their way with the people.
The Homosesexal Marriage is going to cost the states Millions of dollars and flood the courts with more Divorces not to mention like the to cases already where Children are involved, While Men kind of know that the wife unless unfit will get custody, with homosexuals there is not right answers, one is going to be angered. going to cost $$$$$$$ I guarantee!

Living in California, Traditional Marriage is at the top of my list of concerns for this election. And part of my concern is that we find the right way to fight for this essential element of civilisation.

There are some who are automatically opposed to any issue that is being promoted as a "tradition" that must be upheld. After all, just because something is traditional does not mean it is good.

So it has struck me that a better way to promote the protection of one man / one woman marriage by the electorate would be to call it Organic Marriage. Organic because children are an organic fruit of the union between the husband and his wife. Organic because a mother and father is the organic need of every child, even when unfortunate circumstances orphan them or place them in adoption or foster care. Organic because it is an organic part of human civilisation that no honourable parent selfishly abandon his/her child. Organic because history teaches us that no civilisation thrives without the legal promotion and protection of the organic family units of mother and father loving and protecting their children (adopted or biological).

On top of all this, organic also has the advantage of being a really positive word with environmentalists and grocery shoppers!

I am grateful to see that you are part of this important fight to protect and preserve the great American tradition of the Organic Family and Organic Marriage. May we all be successful in that this election cycle!

"...The bottom line is this: the Bible nowhere affirms, sanctions, endorses or approves of the practice of homosexuality. God never calls it an alternative lifestyle. God opposes civil unions of homosexuals. God condemns same-sex marriage. God is against the ordination of homosexuals into the ministry. Never...does God authorize any practice or act of the [homosexual] lifestyle.

That means that same-sex marriage is an abomination to God and any such 'matrimony' is unholy, ungodly, and will receive the judgment of God. Same-sex marriage is nothing more than an attempt to redefine one of the holiest ordinances of God, marriage between male and female.

Do not forget that Jesus himself said, 'at the beginning the Creator made them male and female, and [Jesus added], 'For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh' (Matt. 19:4-5).

For what reason did God create marriage? Only one is given here: God made human beings male and female. Therefore, only a man and a woman can become 'one flesh' in marriage...."
