On My Way To New York

Saturday I was back in Iowa for the first time since we won the caucuses on January 3. Seeing dear friends and “family” that we came to truly love during the process was such a wonderful reminder of how hard our friends there worked to give us such a boost. I spoke at the GOP State Convention and at a fundraiser for the Iowa Family Policy Council headed by Chuck Hurley.

I’m on my way to New York for a few days to meet with Fox News officials and discuss a show I would host as well as appear on numerous Fox programs in the next few days. On Tuesday and Wednesday, a really special opportunity for me—I’ll be subbing for the legendary and immortal Paul Harvey on the ABC Radio Network. As someone whose first job was in local radio in Hope, AR at the age of 14, the thought of subbing for Paul Harvey is truly a special honor.

I get home Wednesday just in time to catch a flight on Thursday to Rwanda, where I’ll be part of a bi-partisan delegation that will include Cindy McCain, former Senators Bill Frist and Tom Daschle, John Kasich, and Leon Panetta and John Podesta. I’m sure it will be an enlightening week and I will try to report to you from there as time and technology allows.

As is usual, my flight to New York is delayed (welcome to the world of airline travel) and it feels much like summer a year ago when I spent many an evening in airport terminals waiting on word of flights grounded by weather, crew issues, or air traffic. I hope you will say a few prayers for me this week---for travel mercies, wisdom in being on shows like Hannity and Colmes and O’Reilly, and for clarity when substituting for Paul Harvey---then start praying some more as we travel to Rwanda for a week.

Of course, remember Tony Snow’s family in your prayers. He was a class act.

All the best.

I just watched Governor Huckabee on Hannity and Colmes and he did an amazing job!

It is a wonderful thing to know that our Governor Huckabee is going to be on Fox News regularly, getting his views/opinions and wisdom out there for the American people to hear! Yay!

We are so proud of you, Governor Huckabee!

And it looked like he is getting to be good buddies with Alan! I think Alan Colmes is really getting to like him. I cannot imagine Alan Colmes getting hostile or testy with our Governor Huckabee at all! Oh, what a joy to see this all unfold....

Looking forward to hearing you on KABC radio tomorrow and Wednesday, subbing for Paul Harvey. :)

Great Job Mike! You have such a passionate message that you talked circles around Sean Hannity and Alan Colmes!

That was amazing! Can anyone get the video of this clip up on the website? John McCain really needs Mike as Vice President!

What an inspiring message! Huckabee never uses notes, and his message comes through loud and clear!

Will someone please put Mike's broadcast tomorrow on the website when he stands in for Paul Harvey?

    Great Job, Mike!

    Hey fellow Huckabee fans,

I spent this past weekend at the Christian Home Educators of Callfornia convention. It was excellent! Speakers included Ken Ham from Answers in Genesis, J. Michael Smith - president of HSLDA, and Mike Farris - chancellor of Patrick Henry College.

The primary theme of the convention was to promote a new constitutional ammendment to protect parental rights. The United Nations treaty for the rights of the child is being pressed upon our nation. It is dangerous - to say the least! This treaty claims to be concerned with the "best interest of the child." But who is to judge what the best interest is? The government? Parents are obviously the best choice for determining what is best for a child. They are God's choice.

Everyone PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, log on to www.parentalrights.org and sign the petition to support parental rights. Also, write and call your congressmen urging them to support this constitutional ammendment.

According to Michael Farris, ammending the constitution is more difficult than running for president (Mike knows something about that!), but nothing is impossible when God is with us. We must not give in to complacency! We must fight for the next generation.

Let's support the 28th ammendment to our nation's constitution!!!!!

From today's (7/14/08) Washington Times newspaper, page two:

    McCain rebounds in Newsweek poll

Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama leads Republican opponent John McCain by three percentage points in a Newsweek poll released Sunday, a marked change from the Democrat's 15-point lead last month.

Mr. Obama captured 44 percent of respondents' support in the poll, compared with Mr. McCain's 41 percent, a statistically insignificant margin, the magazine said on its Web site. Fifteen percent were undecided.

A June 20 Newsweek poll showed Mr. Obama leading 51 percent to 36 percent.

Other recent polls have also shown a tight race. A Gallup daily tracking poll from Saturday showed Mr. Obama leading Mr. McCain 46 percent to 43 percent.

    Governor Huckabee,

You are in my prayers this week as always. Wow a busy couple of weeks for you!!

I am praying for wisdom, peace, but also for clarity of what you should say and what opportunities you should take - as doors begin to open up. I still believe God is working in this election for His Good and Glory. I believe that He is going to use you I just do not know how. First He is more interested in revivals in our hearts than reviving the Republican Party. We do need to be on our knees in repentance as if our sin is what is keeping God from hearing our prayers for this country (not that it is our personal sin that is, but we must collectively be in repentance for this country). He is allowing such confusion in the Republican party, so we will learn to put our trust in Him and not a political party. This reminds me of the tower of Babel and the confusion that was caused there by the different languages, DO YOU HEAR IT!! The Republican party might as well be speaking a different languange, because I used to recognize the message - not so much anymore.

No matter what Oprah says God is a jealous God and He wants our hearts to belong to Him and not a political party. He is not OBSESSIVE - in that He will allow us to go our own way. He allows Oprah to follow another way if she wants (doesn't He?), but if we are on our own than we are on our own indeed!!! We cannot count on Him for protection and provision even when suddenly we have no control over our circumstances and want Him to protect and provide for us (as in natural distasters, cancer, etc.). He is still even then gracious and merciful to save us. He will never turn His back on us when we truly cry out to Him. 1John 1:9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. His mercy endures forever.

Thank you Governor Huckabee for being our voice of truth and reason. God has used you already to turn the tide of this country, I believe this with all my heart!! I praise my God upon every remembrance of you!! We were just in Arkansas at Shepherd of the Orzarks (Family Camp) and your picture was on the wall. My kids cried out Governor Huckabee, Governor Huckabee, look it is Governor Huckabee. The whole dining hall heard them and turned and looked. After that we had so many people coming to us and asking us if we supported you and they said how disappointed they were that you didn't win. These people were from all over the country, not just Arkansas.

To all the Huckpacabees, thank you for all of these encouraging words in this post. This is why I started here in the first place and this is why I continue to come back. Keep up the encouraging words and let us spur one another on to do good works!!

    Many Blessings,

    April Brown, TX

In prayer for you as you receive from the Lord the words and ways He has for you this week. Also praying for the Tony Snow family. What a gifted and spirited man he was, who rejoiced to run his race.

For the trip to Rwanda, I pray for your safety, your ability to receive adequate information about the actual impact of US aid and to sense the heartbeat of the Rwandan people, your sleep quota to be met, and for fellowship with believers there.

From II Chronicles 16:9 (NAS), "For the eyes of the LORD move to and fro throughout the earth that He may strongly support those whose heart is completely His...."

You cannot go beyond His sight.

I absolutely agree with Sherri Crane!

"Conservative" talk radio is no longer what it used to be. Besides our local Steve Deace (who is awesome!) on WHO radio in Des Moines, Iowa (Ronald Reagan's station), there are no other talk show hosts that speak for me anymore.

Mike Huckabee...YOU are the new voice for conservatives! I pray you'll get your own talk show!!!

Just imagine hearing from Mike EVERYDAY!

    Gov. Huckabee,

Thank you so much for taking time from a busy schedule to let us huckpac members and others know your schedule, as you are probably aware that we all consider it such a treat when we hear from you.

I just finished watching your interview on Fox and Friends that I had recorded so that I could forward through the other stuff. As always, your answers were precise and to the point. There was no guessing as to how you really felt. Please know that you are always in my prayers. I can already see the results of the many prayeres for you, and that you always acknowledge God in all your ways. God bless you and Janet as you strive to make a difference in our country.........Thank you, Maxine Wilson

Governor, Saw you on Fox today (got up early just to watch) and, once again you did a super job. So relaxed (at least it looked that way) and smooth with your answers! Just wish they would have you on for more than 3 minutes at a time! Guess they want to keep us waiting for more. You certainly don't have to worry about oversaturating your market!! Would have liked to see you interact with Pawlenty and Rendell. It is odd how Fox keeps pushing their agenda of Romney for vp to everyone. I will repeat what you said last time you were asked about the vp spot and said "if that happens I'll be the most surprised person in America" about Romney. If THAT happens, "I will be the most suprised person in America." I think that choosing Romney would say something about Senator McCain that noone believes is true because he has built a reputation on doing what is right and sticking to his convictions. I know Romney is not in line with that...

    Dear Governor Huckabee,
Thank you so much for keeping us humble bloggers informed of your busy schedule and asking for our prayers. You are a humble man who realizes that your own service depends on God's help and other people's prayer and support. We are workers together...

How exciting these new opportunities are for you! My husband and I will pray for you that God will protect and guide you each step and each airmile of the way.

Alone we can fall or fail, but with God's help, you will be able to meet every challenge.

We are excited about your opportunities to speak on television many times this week, as well as to travel to Africa with the bipartisan delegation! May He direct each and every detail of your PLANS that they may be conducive to speaking the truth in love as you have done so well.

Here is a promise of protection for you from God's Word:

"He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the LORD, 'He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust...'" (Psalm 91:1-2)

Also, my favorite verse for when we ride on the airplane or travel or have a great deal of challenging things to do:

"But those who wait on the LORD shall revew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint." (Isaiah 40:31 NKJV)

I will also be praying for Janet, because I know your plans and activities mean she is also needing extra prayers for wisdom, comfort, and support. You are both such a blessing to America! Thank you.!

You asked for prayers "---for travel mercies, wisdom in being on shows like Hannity and Colmes and O’Reilly, and for clarity when substituting for Paul Harvey---then [for us] to start praying some more as [you] travel to Rwanda for a week."

We are happy to assist in this way.

    GRACE in Kansas, PRAYING

PS - While on a short vacation to attend a wedding, we had the opportunity to watch on FoxNews the many tributes to Tony Snow. I was moved to tears often when I heard about his combination of humor, insight, ability with words, strong faith, and the many, oft-hidden acts of kindness toward the people he met and worked with. He was a man of deep faith and compassion, too, like you. There were many things that made me think, "This reminds me of Mike Huckabee's qualities and qualifications --- even down to his love of playing a musical instrument in a band!"

And then, now, to hear that you are also going to start a new program you would host on FoxNews, too, makes the comparisons all the more poignant and relative!

Congratulations! We are behind you all the way, Mike and Janet.

Go, Mike! We're behind you all the way. Go with God and we will continue praying for you, Janet, and all you do.

Here were two Scriptures that crossed my path today:

Prov. 13:3 He who guards his lips guards his life,
but he who speaks rashly will come to ruin.

Mt. 10:16 I am sending you out like sheep among wolves. Therefore be as shrewd as snakes and as innocent as doves.

[Actually I think Mike is already pretty darn good on both counts, but I thought I'd mention these verses anyway.]

I know that anyone who spends time with Gov. Huckabee will be won over by his unusual human kindness and genuine compassion. Those qualities are sadly lacking in today's world, especially in the corridors of power, and among the "movers and shakers."

Mike in Rwanda. Wow. Neighboring country to my home for five years, Tanzania. While I lived there I had the opportunity to visit the Rwanda tribunal in Arusha, Tanzania- official site for the trials of those responsible for the horrific Rwanda genocide. It was fascinating to watch lawyers from all around the world prosecute and defend criminals responsible for the mass murder of a people. Tanzania became a refuge for many Tutsi refugees.

I am so happy that Mike will be representing the US in that torn country. Mike in Africa. My heart swells. I can imagine him representing us (the US) there. When I was in Honduras, Clinton visited. Oh how embarrassed I was to admit that he was our president. He was in the middle of the impeachment proceedings and the Hondurans knew all about it and laughed at us because of him. What a blight on America. It was humiliating. The whole world watches America and have opinons of our presidents. Many saw Bush as a man who loves war. I had to defend him as well but it wasn't humiliating as with Clinton.

With Mike as president, we could go all around the world and hold our head up high for he would truly be a remarkable representative. The rest of the world thinks of us as a Christian nation. How wrong they are sadly becoming. Oh How I pray Mike would help us turn back to America's roots. That is our only hope. Or we will soon turn into a country lke so many others, genocide, limited freedoms, poverty, corrupt government and political officals getting richer and richer and the citizens getting poorer and poorer. Come to think of it, when considering what we do to our unborn, this presidential race, it sounds much like America today.

Safe travels Mike. I will certainly pray for you. I am excited to see what God will do this week for your walk to the White House.

And thank you Mike for including us.

I am praying that this was just the start to a phenemonal week for you, professionally and personally rewarding in every way! I'm sure you will find just the right words (as you always do) not only to represent Senator McCain and the Republican Party, but to inspire all of us as Americans! Your speech in Iowa, though rich with causes and beliefs based on the Republican ticket, was a message that was inspiring for ALL Americans and only stengthened my belief that you are the person to lead our country ( the uniter that Obama only claims to be).

It's great to hear from you again, Gov. Huckabee.

Best wishes for successful appearances on news programs this week.

Thanks for being a politician who understands the common American person and family and who stands for life, marriage, fair taxation, and other issues that are important to us. Many politicians just do what is popular at the time. It is great to see someone like you who actually cares about people and stands for what you believe in. Many Americans are upset with politics today because the people in Washington constantly argue and do not accomplish much. It is so refreshing to see 'vertical' politicians who seek to maintain American values and work to achieve solutions to problems in today's world.

Be extremely careful this week as you appear on the TV and radio programs. As you know, the political reporters and commentators will jump on almost any remark and criticize you for it.
