A Message From Mike Huckabee

During my speech at the NRA a loud noise backstage, that sounded like a chair falling, distracted the crowd and interrupted my speech. I made an off hand remark that was in no way intended to offend or disparage Sen. Obama.I apologize that my comments were offensive, that was never my intention.

Now the media is all over Clinton's comment. I feel so bad for her. I knew that she didn't mean what she said. She was pointing out that campaigns go long and that a lot of them weren't decided till June. Her comment about RFK was in the context of a timeline. Now everyone is calling her a racist. Wow, I can't believe that the media is destroying her like this. They should look at a person's lifework and not one statement. Many bloggers are calling Mike a racist, but if they looked at his lifework, they would find that he turned a mostly white congregation into a equally black/white congregation. He showed up at debates for minorities with Tavis Smiley and others didn't. He went on the Tyra Banks show. He got 47% of the black vote. He helped the victims of Hurricane Katrina. Mike even defended Rev. Wright when other GOp were grilling him. Mike is not a racist, people should look at his life's work.

    Attention Huckabee Supporters:
There is a new VP poll on AOL where Huckabee needs out help. The article is about the McCain party this weekend and doesn't mention Huckabee in the article at all. According to one news report; Huckabee was invited but had a previous engagement [anniversary cruise] with his wife. Mike is trailing Romney 43% - 22%. Mike needs our help!

Please vote for Huckabee near the middle of this article

    All-in-for-Mike,

Nice email!! Hopefully they will get the message.

To everyone else, please send emails to Fox News. They are trying to silence Huckabee supporters and we need to let them know that we know what they are doing and it isn't right. Be polite though, when writing them. We don't want to do anything that will make Huckabee look bad.

Did anyone notice that Huckabee was conviently left out of their article about McCain meeting with top VP choices? I just checked and they didn't post the comment I made about this yesterday? Do you think they are blocking certain email addresses?

I just left this comment on their latest story about VP choices. I'm sure they won't post it, but I want them to read it. :)

"If McCain chooses Mitt Romney it will be the easist decision I've ever had to make. I will not be voting Republican in November."

If you want to vote in the CQ "VP Madness" poll, you need to hurry -- I think they are announcing the final results on Thurs. May 22!

    http://innovation.cq.com/vpmadness

You do NOT need to register. It only takes a second!

Someone has pointed out that Mike has won almost every VP poll out there for the last several weeks. The question is, will McCain be wise enough to LISTEN? Or will he arrogantly say "I'm a maverick, that's what makes me so special, I don't listen to ANYBODY," and ignore the clear, repeatedly-stated preference of the nation's Republican voters???

Mike is strong in every area where McCain needs help -- speaking ability, youth/health / vigor, ability to connect with other human beings, media relations, humility, likeability, come-from-scrappy-beginnings story, social (AND fiscal) conservative, telegenic.... the list goes on and on!!

Re: the www.cq.com poll ("VP Madness") for vice president:

As of 11:30 PM on Weds. night, the current results are:

    Gov. Huckabee 72%
    Sarah Palin 27%

You don't have to log in to vote in this poll, or ask for e-mails and updates. You just have to put a check-mark in the box for Mike Huckabee, and then click "view results."

I know this works because I voted yesterday... and then, concerned that perhaps I hadn't done it correctly, I tried to vote again the same way tonight. The website said I had already voted this round.

    To: FLETCHER, COURTNEY

Thank you for the e-mail address for FoxNews.com and for sharing with us that beautiful, oh-so-caring form letter they sent you. How it moved me to hear of their touching concern for your views. [wipes away one shiny tear]

Tonight I sent them this e-mail:

    Dear FoxNews.com,

For a few months now, I've noticed that your website will not print any of my comments if they are about Mike Huckabee. I am invariably polite, brief, respectful, and have never "bashed" other candidates, but my comments still are not posted. I'm hearing this same complaint from many other Huckabee fans, as well. Please show journalistic integrity and post ALL the comments, whether you agree with them or not.

    FauxNews.com's e-mail address:

Does anyone think Drudge would do anything with this??

Regarding the poll on www.innovation.cq.com/vpmadness :
    You have to have
If all the boxes are empty and you can't vote, it is because you first have to go to the right where it says "sign up for updates" and give them your e-mail address. They will send you an e-mail quickly and then you can go vote.

It's amazing that the poll is so close--makes you wonder if it's honest. Mike needs every vote! McCain needs to know Mike is the best choice. Let's blow them away with support for Mike!

Mac & Mike or only Mike! Go Mike Huckabee!

Oh look, I got a form letter from Fox News. Lucky me. This is a response to the email I sent them about them not posting Huckabee supporters comments that I posted below.

    "Dear Courtney,

Thank you for your e-mail and bringing this to our attention. We will look into this further. As a FOXNews.com reader your opinion is very important to us, we know that you are the reason we are here. Please feel free to stay in touch.

    Regards,
    FOXNews.com"

    Tyger, I agree 100%!!!

Cmathis, you said "Not voting for McCain because he's not as conservative as you would like is, to me, very ignorant." Why should I vote for someone I don't agree with? Conservatives need to stand up and not let the Republican party continue taking us for granted. McCain thinks we will all fall in line and vote for him, and that's why he's not campaigning for conservative votes, he's trying to get liberal and moderate's votes.

I am 24 years old. I am still thinking long and hard about this decision, but the main question that keeps running through my head is this, "what will my life be like if I start sacrificing my principles at the young age of 24?". I really don't want to find out.

First Obama said he wasn't in Church when his pastor said all those awful things.

Then he said,” Did I ever hear him say things I didn't agree with? Yes, I did.”

Then he said, he loved his Pastor like a "crazy uncle" and could no more denounce his pastor than his grandmother. His pastor was like family to him.

Then when his campaign started faltering he denounces his pastor and say's, I don't know this guy.

He only denounced his pastor when it became obvious that he could lose if he didn’t.

It has been said that Rev. Wright told Obama he would have to distance himself from him until after the election and Obama agreed.

BA, it sounds to me like you want him to water down his apology. "People may have been offended" is mealy-mouthed. "It was offensive." is much more unambiguous. To me it leaves no doubt or room to wiggle as far as how Governor Huckabee sees his comments, or regarding his understanding of how others saw them.

I for one will NOT vote for McCain unless Huckabee is on the ticket! I will write Mike's name in. The Lord clearly told me back in Feb. when I spent 3 days fasting and praying for this up coming election and for our nation that McCain is a representation of the spirit of deception that is running rampant through our nation today! Satan has millions of people decieved into believing McCain, Obama, or Hillary are the best choice for us! Even people who say they are Christians and born again have been decieved! McCain has been two faced about several issues and has flip flopped on just about every issue that was brought up in the debates and interviews! He is a liar and a manipulator and will do and say anything to get a vote! He is a democrat wearing republican's clothes! His wife is a deciever as well and this has been proven. I have said it before and I will say it again, SHAME on any Christian who supports this man! He is not conservative!

Anyone who has followed Huckabee knows he likes to crack jokes, and that is his charm as well as a weakness. This one was a dud.

The apology above is not sufficient. It sounds like the politician's "if anyone was offended." Huckabee should expand: "pointing a gun at somebody is never funny, and as a gun owner I should have known that." The badness of this joke is not anything about Obama, but that pointing a gun at anybody, much less a politician, is a violation of the first rule of gun ownership, which even I learned as a kid. You never ever point a gun, even a toy gun, at anybody unless you really need to in self defense-- and if that happens, it is never funny.

    In regards to your question:

“I've noticed a lot of people say they will not vote for McCain unless Huckabee is on his ticket. WHY NOT?”

I understand your concern; please let me try to explain.

    1. Many people were incensed and outraged at the way the GOP treated Mike during the primaries and want restitution. i.e. Mike for Vice President. (I could go on and on about the deplorable way they treated Governor Huckabee, but it’s exhausting; and it’s late and I’m tired!)

    2. Many people don’t appreciate their votes being taken for granted. (Oh, the religious right will fall in line!) I really don’t think this will happen.

    3. Many people feel that McCain will destroy the Republican Party with his leftist leanings. (Therefore they want Mike to balance the ticket)

    4. Many people who say they won’t vote for McCain without Huckabee, believe that if the Republican’s lose; then they will learn to NOT underestimate the Values voters ever, ever again!

I REALLY don’t want Obama to be President. His inexperience scares me. His 20 year association with his lunatic Pastor REALLY scares me! After knowing this man for 20 years he says, I don’t know this guy! He denounced him ONLY when it became politically expedient to do so. You can look Rev. Wright up on YouTube. Remember the sayings, “a man is known by the company he keeps” and “birds of a feather flock together.” The anti-American and bigoted messages that were prevalent in his church are very disturbing. Once again the media gives Obama a pass!

I don’t fault anyone who say’s they can’t vote for McCain if Mike isn’t on the ticket.
I only hope that the GOP understands why they feel this way.

Mike would generate excitement for the GOP ticket, he already has the youth vote, he can help unite the party and give some solace to the disenfranchised voters.

Besides, Mike makes McCain look REAL good!

If they continue to ignore the conservative base, the very ones that that voted for Mike in the much needed Republican states, then I fear we are doomed to an Obama-Nation a “Change” this Country simply cannot afford.

I've noticed a lot of people say they will not vote for McCain unless Huckabee is on his ticket. WHY NOT? If you don't want a democrat to take office, you need to do everything you can to get John McCain elected in November. Not voting for McCain because he's not as conservative as you would like is, to me, very ignorant. Please cast your vote for McCain this November if you care about this country!

Here's an excerpt from the Tavis Smiley Transcript:

Tavis: Always glad to have you on the program. Let me start with what everybody else is talking about so we can talk about it and get it out of the way. Let me just say to you, we've known each other for years and you are one of the nicest persons I've ever met. And you are funny and where race relations is concerned my sense has always been given our friends and relationship that you get it.

This audience knows that you were the first person to confirm to come to our presidential debate when we invited the Republican candidates to discuss issues important to people of color that was broadcast live on this network. So you put me in a real trick bag trying to explain a few days ago what you said about Barack Obama, man.

Huckabee: Well, it was a stupid remark, what can I say? I apologized. There was a distraction on the stage - actually backstage. It was a big commotion, sounded like a chair had fallen off a ladder. And in the midst of speaking I made a comment. I really intended it to be more of kind of a funny thing about the NRA, not Barack Obama. Turned out horrible.

I feel awful about it. I personally called Senator Obama, I apologized to him. He was, as you would understand, extraordinarily gracious, said it wasn't a big deal to him, don't worry about it. But I've apologized. It was just one of those off-the-cuff statements that for the life of me I wish I hadn't made, and certainly was no way intended to be anything other than a joke to get the audience back to the podium from the distraction. But it was a huge mistake on my part.

Tavis: I wonder, for as much off-the-cuff stuff that comes with running for president that we don't hear more off-the-wall stuff from candidates. Are you surprised that this doesn't happen more often?

Huckabee: Well, especially because everywhere you go, there's a camera. Every town hall. In fact even yesterday there was a camera, I was getting on a plane in Washington at Reagan airport and a guy - I'm coming out of a car and getting my bags and tipping the driver, and he's jumping up in my face and asking me these questions.

Turns out I think he's from TMZ, and I guess he just hangs out at airports in case somebody shows up. (Laughter) So you never know, but the other side of that is this is life. We all play by these rules, and so I'm not complaining. It was my error, not somebody else's, nobody to blame but me. And that was one of those moments that I just certainly wasn't thinking in the best way, and it was no way intended to be anything about the safety of a presidential candidate.

And when I started hearing those comments, that that's what I was doing, I was appalled, and that's why I wanted to get it out of the way as quickly as possible, and the reason that I personally called Senator Obama and just told him that I was deeply sorry and just didn't want him to think that there was anything behind it.

Tavis: Well if you talked to Barack Obama, we'll move past it then.

    Huckabee: Okay.

I am still for Huckabee. And will vote for him in the New Mexico Primary on June 3. If only HIS platform could come into effect, not that of McCain. But I may reconsider and vote for a McCain/Huck ticket. We must defeat any candidate such as Obama who is for partial birth abortion. Obama has been sounding more and more presidential, giving more specifics instead of platitudes, but he's still for partial birth abortion, I expect, and that rules him out whatever else he thinks.

I just received on May 19th a petition to sign concerning the following from "American Family Association" (Don Wildmon). Many of you may already be on this mailing list. If not perhaps you can email them stating that you would like to receive the "Action Alert" stating the following:

SENATOR MCCAIN IS THE ONE PERSON WHO SHOULD LEAD THE BATTLE TO PROTECT TRADITIONAL MARRIAGE !

    Their email address is:

    "AFA ActionAlert" <contact@afa.net>

Of course if you have not already done so then you will have to sign up to receive their regular emails.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------
This is the message you will be sending McCain:

Send a message to Sen. John McCain asking him to strongly support a federal marriage amendment making marriage legal only between one man and one woman. Sen. McCain has said in the past he supports marriage only between one man and one woman. But he voted against the federal amendment when it was voted on in the Senate. Such an amendment would override the legalization of homosexual marriage by the liberal California Supreme Court. It is time for Sen. McCain to take a stand for marriage!

The media doesn’t understand why Obamba loses the Catholic Christian vote? It’s called Partial Birth Abortion and Obamba is the leading Senator pushing it through Congress and Christians need to be speaking out about THIS, especially since his new ads call him "COMMITTED CHRISTIAN."

Partial Birth Abortion: KILLING BABY 6 MONTHS AND UP

To see images of partial-birth abortion click here:

    http://www.priestsforlife.org/resources/dc/index.htm

    1. Guided by ultrasound, the abortionist grabs the baby's leg with forceps.
    2. The baby's leg is pulled out into the birth canal.
    3. The abortionist delivers the baby's entire body, except for the head.
    4. The abortionist jams scissors into the baby's skull. The scissors are then opened to enlarge the hole.
    5. The scissors are removed and a suction catheter is inserted. The child's brains are sucked out, causing the skull to collapse. The dead baby is then removed.

SO DO YOU STILL THINK OBAMBA IS THE MESSIAH?
DO YOU WANT THIS MONSTER IN THE WHITE HOUSE?

Very questionable on the CNN polling for sure. Now I cannot even find it on there. They really need to be questioned on that one, as the percentage for Huckabee never changes.

About the FOXNEWS comments, they finally did update a lot of comments on there late this a.m. My comment did appear. It seems to me that they do not do any updating on the weekend and then run them all together at once on Monday.

This really big VP survey on AOL (last night and today) already has almost 185,000 votes regarding who should be McCain's VP. The story was the lead item in AOL's revolving photo/article display on the welcome page, but people didn't know who it was about until they clicked the link. The topic was Governor Huckabee's statements on Meet The Press yesterday, and then people could vote. Usually, AOL surveys have liberal outcomes and can't really be swayed by activists because the respondents are from the huge number of AOL subscribers, somewhat of a cross-section of America. Here are the GREAT results as of about 2:00 pm on Monday, May 19:

    To Jill Anderson and others,

The CNN poll had Huckabee at 36% since early Sunday. I thought it rather suspious that it had not changed since then! Would not be the first time, I've noticed questionable polling!

Also, I gave up leaving comments at Fox News a long time ago. I never had any of my pro-Huckabee comments posted!!!! They have not been fair and balanced since this election began!

AOL.COM also has a VP poll. Yesterday, Huckabee was at 28%, Romney at 24%.

    God Bless!

    Mrs P,

I agree and I am also starting to get sick to my stomach as you describe it.

When multitudes can turn a blind eye to what Obama stands for and believes in and they do not even want to hear about it then: It sounds cult-like to me ! So many of these are young people who seem to have no morals or understanding of history.

Yes, I said "no morals". Two-man, two-women marriages is immoral. Butchering and killing babies in the womb is immoral.

Hucktown na na na na na sing it out! I liked what I heard in the NRA speech about Hucktown!

Governor Huckabee please feel free to use this motto for the rest of your public service now and for many years -
"If you want to you will" My 7 and 4 year old sons have said, "Daddy we get what you've been teaching us, If you want to you will!" Out of the mouths of babes...

If you want to America, you will...

Protect unborn babies, stop partial birth abortion, defend marriage as defined in the Bible and help families to become stronger with more time together and money to take care of basic needs to raise children

    Support and defend the Constitution

Push for 5% GDP spending for a strong military and protect us from those trying to kill us and wreck our economy

Eliminate the I.R.S. and allww Americans the freedom to earn and spend

Protect our borders and qualify WHO and WHAT enters the USA - our lives and our children's lives depend on it

America IF YOU WANT TO, YOU WILL!!!!

If you want to be good you will, if you want to be bad you will - It's a powerful thought. Being good is up to us and our children are looking up to us for leadership.

Let's do it What do you want America? IF YOU WANT TO YOU WILL!

I just logged on to the Drudge Report and saw a picture from an obama rally. I literally feel sick to my stomach. There were people as far as the eye could see. I understand why he is being called the messiah. This is definitely cult-like! Very frightening!

America must wake up before it is too late!

It appears that we can vote more than once on this poll. "Do you think Huckabee would make a good VP for McCain?"

However, that 36% for Huckabee never seems to rise. Hope it is legit.

MoniQue....Thank your for your blog. I am a Catholic Christian and an RN. I have been trying to get the word out of Obama's support of Partial birth abortion as well! How could anyone who knows what a partial birth abortion is could ever vote for anyone who supports it!! How barbaric!!! When I have explained it to many people they can't believe it...they say "Oh no that can't be cause that's murder" It has really opened their eyes!! I am also a supporter of Priests for Life! Again thank you

    Monique,

Very good point. I am having a very difficult time finding the two words compatible.

    Christian and Abortionist

And I do not know how any committed Christian can.

Your description of this procedure is the truth and it is abhorrent.

Where is the outcry of this ?

"It's a Mad Mad World "...said Alice. go Ask Her...I contend she aint seein nothin yet !

One casual glance at this election year 2008 is enough to even make Alice in Wonderland's head spin round and round. Truly Amazing !

Its easy to see who has the upper hand here(the Dems), yet we must have faith through the surrealistic events toward what borders on social destruction. Faith ...Values threatened on a grand scale, from within and without. It goes beyond matters of the heart, as if that werent enough (our love of a future for our children , a secure America etc.)...this is of global impact...bombastic proportions!

Are you with me "everyone' ?...The Press has finally picked up speed and things are more perinent on our Rep side, relevant issues addressed more etc. (for Republicans). What is needed is Prayer.

What about gay rights thing in ca ?...The things that boggle the mind. the Homosexs want Marraige and the Heteros live together...barely even legally ! (Confounds the senses)

If Mike & Janet were the Governor & First Lady of California, that would never have happened. This truly handicaps the conservative Platform. When will the elected governing official begin to act responsible for their decisions...Hopefully in our lifetimes.
If not, then we must vote responsibly for our childrens sake (I am glad I dont have to see them married type gays coming out of the closet here where I live). The heteros barely hold hands these days. Oh Boy !

    Ranting, raving, rambling,,,Sorry.

It is always good to come to Huck Pack ..

Thats all for now. Thanks everybody for remembering my special day. I will try to respond individually. Your caring kindness and thoughtful consideration is overwhelming. That why we talk the talk and walk the walk here at Huc Pac.

McCain Rebuffs Dobson: Will Evangelicals Bolt?

    Sunday, May 18, 2008 6:05 PM

By: Phil Brennan Article Font Size

Sen. John McCain's campaign has so far turned a deaf ear to invitations to meet with politically powerful evangelical leader Dr. James Dobson at his Focus on the Family headquarters in Colorado Springs, Colo., raising the possibility that the nation's sizeable evangelical bloc will sit out the presidential race in November.

The move would all but assuring the election of Sen. Barack Obama, columnist Robert Novak argues in a recent column.

Noting that Dobson has indicated he can't support McCain for president, Novak writes that Dobson's opposition to McCain "reflects continued resistance to the prospective presidential nominee among Christian conservatives who are unhappy with McCain's current positions on stem-cell research, immigration and global warming, not to mention his past sponsorship of campaign-finance reform."

But conservatives are surprised that despite the differences between McCain and some key conservatives, he hasn't responded to their olive branches and sought meetings.

As a result of their dissatisfaction, Novak reports that many of Dobson's followers "are looking beyond 2008 to seek a new leader of the conservative movement for the 2012 election."

In another column, Novak questions Mike Huckabee's announced support of McCain. Though Huckabee has been unequivoval in his backing of McCain, telling Tim Russert on "Meet the Press" Sunday that he thought McCain was his nominee during their primary fight if could not clinch the nomination, Novak has heard otherwise, citing sources that suggests Huckabee has secretly allied himself with the bitter-end anti-McCain opposition.

Novak writes that while that seems hardly credible given Huckabee's very public support of McCain, his critics point out that during Huckabee's 10 years as Arkansas governor he proved "all too capable of playing a double game."

Novak writes that McCain could not be where he is today had not Huckabee mobilized born-again voters to upset Mitt Romney in the Iowa caucuses, and that "all efforts by Romney to overtake McCain in conservative Southern state primaries were stifled by Huckabee's success in those contests."

Moreover, even though Huckabee lost no time in endorsing McCain once he clinched the nomination evangelical community sources dispute the veracity of Huckabee's support.

One unidentified source long active in Christian politics told Novak many evangelicals have embraced the concept that an Obama presidency "might be what the American people deserve."

That, writes Novak "fits what has largely been a fringe position among evangelicals, that the pain of an Obama presidency is in keeping with the Bible's prophecy."
