McCain, Huckabee and Evangelicals

Janet and I hope you had a great Mother’s Day weekend. After seeing our niece graduate from Ouachita Baptist University on Saturday, Janet went to Hope to visit her Mother. After church on Sunday, we had a great visit with country singer Josh Turner, his wife Jennifer and their 19th month old son Hampton, and Jennifer’s mother. We had gotten to know Josh during the campaign and not only love his music, but especially love he and his wife’s authentic faith and personal character. In an entertainment business filled with uncontrolled lifestyles and egos, Josh Turner is a wonderful example of an incredibly talented man who hasn’t forgotten where he came from and what is important to him. He is just a refreshing voice in music. Josh was on a bill with megastar Carrie Underwood and we went to the show. It was terrific. Being a musician, I couldn’t help but spend most of my time watching the bass players in each of the truly amazing bands---I was probably the only person in Alltel arena who mostly watched the bass players! Carrie had been the musical guest the night I was on Saturday Night Live, so I had the opportunity to meet her and her band that night. I truly admire and appreciate talent and even more, I admire people who take their talent and work incredibly hard to polish it to the point of performance perfection. Many fans think these guys just get on stage and play well—what they don’t see is the sacrifices of time and rehearsal that take it to a true art form.

On another note, I was very disturbed by a column by Robert Novak that quoted some “anonymous source” in saying that while I strongly supported Senator McCain, I thought that maybe America “deserves Obama,” as if to say that I secretly hoped he won.

Where do people dream up this stuff? Forget the “anonymous” sources—there’s nothing anonymous about my stand and here it is. We don’t “deserve” Obama—we DESERVE a President with the character, convictions, experience, and wisdom to see the problems we face and try to lead us to solve them. We deserve a President who truly loves this country and from whom there is no doubt as to his respect for Faith, Family, and the kind of Freedom that those before us have given their lives to pass on to us. John McCain meets that criteria and that’s why I am campaigning for him and not hoping for Obama. The nonsense that I want Obama to win this year so I can run in 2012 is absurd. I love my country more than my own ambition. So let the record and truth be clear. And let the “anonymous” sources either show the courage to stand up and be accountable for their comments or shut up and leave commentary to people who aren’t afraid of their own shadow.

I hope you have a great week. I will be doing some commentary Tuesday night on MSNBC’s coverage of the election and later in the week will be speaking to a health conference in St. Louis, the national NRA convention, the graduation exercises at Hope High School in Hope, Arkansas where Janet and I graduated 35 years ago, and then Saturday, I’ll be the commencement speaker at Patrick Henry College in Virginia. Somewhere in the midst of that, I will be writing more on the book that comes out this fall—and I still hope you’ll share YOUR stories of the campaign with me.

God bless, keep the faith, and pray for America!

"We deserve a President who truly loves this country and from whom there is no doubt as to his respect for Faith, Family..."

-While I have no doubt Mr. McCain loves his country, he had an affair with his present wife, while married to his former wife then divorced his wife - I don't see that as a profession of faith or family. I think Mr. Obama has actually demonstrated a better idea of faith & family. I also think that the insinuation that Mr. Obama doesn't love his country is specious and unworthy.

If McCain isn't eligable to serve as President, but he wins the election, guess who gets to serve? Answer: The VP-elect! That's one reason to support a McCain/Huckabee ticket. If the Supreme Court were to rule McCain ineligable to be President, Huckabee would be sworn in.

I know what you mean about Fox News but I can see some of those guys coming around to respecting and, oh so reluctantly beginning (even though they have tried so hard not to) to like and admire Mike. Hannity is one of them. He seems, lately to have a whole new respect for Mike. I'm fully confident that by 2012 or 2016 Mike will have won all these media guys over. Just look how far he has come. As Janet said, those who know Mike will love him!

HEY, HANNAH HALE!

Thanks for the nice words about the awesome event in Plano, Texas at Collin College. As always, the Governor and Janet Huckabee blessed us all that night--as they always do--with their vision for America. Of course, it helped to have 2500 screaming folks like you!

Let's reconnect asap and keep the HUCKABOOM GOING. Time's awastin'.

I was thrilled to see and hear you this evening on MSNBC! I wasn't planning on watching it, but I thought I would check out your website, and when I saw you were going to be on, I quickly tuned in! You were right on, as usual! Even Tim Russett realized it! You're a rare combination of an honest, intelligent, talented, charismatic, Christian man with a great sense of humor! McCain would be crazy not to pick you as his VP candidate! I sent his campaign an Email strongly encouraging him to do so a little while ago! I hope and pray he does! I believe he is also a man of integrity, but he needs you by his side on the ticket to win in November and to lead our country and our world out of this mess we are in!Congratulations to you and Janet for your many years sharing your lives together! I wish you both a very happy anniversary! God bless you and your family!

I am becoming more and more convinced as the days go by that our so called 'Fair & Balanced' Faux News Network is actually hoping that Obama becomes President!

Why do I get this feeling?

Faux news...every one of the candidates they thru their support to were not conservatives at all. But were moderate to liberal. But boy did they pass them off as conservatives. First it was Liberal Rudy, then still liberal (liar liar pants on fire so called conservative) Romney, then moderate mr lazy Thompson. Then of course, last and least fav Moderate (not conservative) McCain.

All the while, stating enfatically that they were all pretty conservative with the exception of Rudy and McCain. (I think they knew they couldn't totally Bamboozle us completely with that kind of fantacy Land. They might actually get labelled as really trying to deceive...Right???

Oh, but conservative Romney should be.....
And also...they are still trying to bamboozle us on which conservative best to put with McCain and then they say...Mike cannot be the VP because McCain is running on a moderate ticket and is seaking to attract moderates. Well if that is the case, why do they keep on trying to put a 'so called' 'conservatives' on his ticket.

FOOLS ALL!!!!!

OK FAUX NEWS...IF WE TRUE CONSERVATIVES DON'T MATTER AND YOU DON'T THINK OUR VOTE IS IMPORTANT...GOOD, THEN WE'LL JUST NOT VOTE FOR MCCAIN AND THEN YOU CAN SEE HOW OUR VOTE COUNTS OR DOES NOT COUNT!!!!! RIGHT?????

Sorry to say this...Dammit...RIGHT!!!!!

I also believe their goal is to keep Mike from the vp position because they have their eyes on 2012 with their own agenda who they think will be the best bet for the GOP in 2012. They still want Romney. They are banking on Romney in 2012. They really still do not like McCain. I get this feeling as well.

Stupid fools. Romney is not going to make prez in 2012 either. I will never support Romney, ever. If Mike does not run for prez in 2012. I will be writing him in on my ballot in 2012 too. (God willing I'm still alive and kickin still)

The only way McCain ever has a remote chance of becoming prez is if Mike is picked as his VP.

I still don't think that McCain is smart enough to pick Mike. But if, for some chance he gets a clue and does, the GOP may just have a chance. But if not...McCain is BIG TIME HISTORY. FAUX IS STUPID AND DOES NOT HAVE A CLUE. LIKE I SAID BEFORE BLIND WITH BIGOTRY AND GREED!!!!!

Sorry Guys - I cant read all these posts right now.

I went to the library 4 computers but none were currently available. I am somewhat concerned about Mac's choice. He must peek Huckabee. Oh yes !

The well is dry. There is no way thise country can survive with obamamaniacs abounding.

I got aggressive at the library, with my wording only. I announced to thee patrons that my Obama is not a true American and if you vote for him you are____ ___ ___ ___ !

I am sorry, but my frustration got the best of me.

We Need to Hear a Loud Resounding Plea for Huck-a-bee !

Otherwise I fear we are doomed here to have Obama as President.

Lori Stacy: I think it is time to fire your reliable sources, as they are neither reliable, nor being honest with you.

The former Solicitor General for the United States (highest lawyer in the land), Theodore Olson, has said it isn't an issue.

Besides that, what rights we have to *Panamanian* land are entirely irrelevant. He was born on a US Military Base. That means, according to the Naturalization Act of 1790, which states as follows: "the children of citizens of the United States that may be born beyond the sea, or out of the limits of the United States, shall be considered as natural born citizens." , he is a natural born citizen.

Can we start disseminating facts now? There are many reasons to legitimately distrust McCain, but this whole tempest in a teapot about his citizenship is really getting ridiculous.

I think Jack Rakove, W.R. Coe professor of history and American studies professor of political science at Stanford University, said it best: "The natural born citizen requirement is one that law professors like to have fun with," Rakove told Cybercast News Service. "Why not ask whether it also prohibits anyone born of Caesarean section from being president?"

• Dr. David

05/13/2008 11:57 AM

To Jake Long: Thanks for filling in some details of McCain's life after his release from prison and before his divorce. You are correct that I was reasoning from the little I knew about the facts to the general situation. My point was not to cast blame on one party or the other, but to say that you shouldn't judge either of them on the basis of incomplete knowledge. I still feel that way. You said nothing about the nature of their relationship after he returned from Vietnam and before the car crash. It obviously looks bad for McCain to turn to another woman while he was still married to the first, but is that his pattern? Is he running around on Cindy? If not, why not? Because it would destroy his career? Maybe so, but I'd rather give him the benefit of the doubt, and let God do the condemning.

My personal response to Robert Novak regarding this article:

Another vain attempt to smear Mike Huckabee and ruin his chances for Vice- President...How pathetic! This story has about as much credibility as the one the New York Times put out on McCain and the lobbyist. Really Robert, get a grip and use to energy to put forth real news and ideas, if we want gossip, we will look the the National Enquirer.

• Cariker, LeighAnn

05/13/2008 10:45 AM

Read the article Novak put out...It would seem, as it did during the election, that this is another attempt to discredit Mike Huckabee. I highly doubt that Mike Huckabee is "not under consideration" for the VP slot. McCain would have to be a fool not to consider him. I know there are plenty of other social conservatives out there, but how many have the appeal of Gov. Huckabee? How many have the name recognition? Before this election, I'd never heard of Charlie Christ or any of the others...Keep the faith folks. I've had the feeling since the loss in Texas, that VP is the fastest path for Huck to President and also the least painful. He most likely won't be ripped apart by the Democrats like McCain will be as the Nominee for President. Think about it, pray about it, and PLEASE don't give up!

Four weeks from today Buddy Witherspoon will face Lindsey Graham in South Carolina's Republican Primary. If you live in SC, please go to the polls and vote for Buddy Witherspoon. If you don't live in SC but know someone who does, then please let them know!

Buddy is strongly pro-life; he believes in securing our borders and enforcing our immigration laws; he believes in replacing our current punitive tax system with the FairTax; he believes in school choice; he believes in the 2cnd amendment; he believes in freedom of religion and not freedom from religion.

Lindsey Graham does not support the FairTax (unlike every other congressional Republican from SC except one). Lindsey believes in amnesty:

“No group OWNS being an American”
- Lindsey Graham to La Raza

“We are going to tell the bigots to shut up.”
- Lindsey Graham referring to Legal Americans.

“And I don’t do this much, but I want to thank Ted Kennedy!”
- Senator Lindsay Graham.

PLEASE VOTE FOR BUDDY WITHERSPOON ON JUNE 12th IN SC. Lindsey Graham is too liberal for SC and too liberal for America!

Well, I have not posted to the site in awhile. I realize the rest of what HuckPAC is doing is great. I just can't help but be turned cold regarding the support for McCain though.

I STILL don't get why people are begging McCain to pick Mike for VP? McCain is NOT eligible to become President. Mike can win on his OWN merits, he does not have to wait and see if McCain wins and then gets knocked out. The Panama Canal zone by TREATY allowed us to Lease Water Rights. THAT'S IT!!!! It was NEVER US Territory. McCain is a Naturalized citizen born outside the US. He is not and he knows he is NOT eligible to become President. He is NOT Natural Born! WHERE IS OUR COUNTRY'S OUTRAGE??? I am still waiting to hear about the federal court challenge filed by a Riverside, CA attorney. Of course it is still being kept very quiet in the national media eventhough it was filed months ago. Hmmmmmm. Food for thought.

I guess I just don't get why so many people that love Mike as much as I do are NOT as outraged about Mike getting knocked out of a Presidential race by someone not even eligible to be running? My dear God, please save our nation from this intentional Deception!!! Will it end before it is too late?

Governor Huckabee,
I responded to Mr. Novak re: the article you mention. The American people need to do the research -read your books, get on the web-site, watch and listen to you as you are called upon to comment on the political process. You do not need to defend yourself because you are right and if you're wrong you have no defense. Hang in there - your staunch supporters will spread the word.

• XRGR

05/13/2008 01:30 AM

Yes, Mike, you have said it well - we need a President who has a heart for the people in the country, who has a heart for the world, who has a heart for this earth, and who has GOOD JUDGMENT knows how to lead, who can mourn when people mourn, who can dance when people dance, who can go through the hell with a serious heavy heart when people are going through hells especially the one the previous 2 rulers have led this country into.

We want somebody who can undo the damage the previous 2 President/administrations has done to us which as a result the country is in deficit politically, in deficit ethically, in deficit morally, in deficit monetarily.

We want the world to think of Americans as resourceful, responsible citizens in the world. Unfortunately, people like George W. Bush has completely MIS-REPRESENTED us!

We want a President who respects AND VALUES EVERY LIFE as much as he values his own which includes EVERY fetus in the tummy, and EVERY YOUNG ONES in the battlefields!

We do NOT want WARS when it is NOT planned and well prepared! We do NOT want WARS that lose respect of human lives which includes American lives and other people's lives. Unfortunately Bush has done all the DON'Ts!

We want a President who HOLDS himself ACCOUNTIBLE for EVERY young life he sent into the battlefields. Tens of thousands of lives negatively affected by the war is NOT a small number PLUS those thousands died or gradually dying from 9/11 attacks. If the cause of the war is NOT PURELY for the defense of our freedom, damned be it!

We want a President who is ABLE to say "I'm sorry I had made a mistake" instead of lying under oath like Bill Clinton had! We want a President who will pay for his mistake like a REAL MAN, not like a coward or a pathetical liar who disgusts the whole nation.

We want a President who is not ashame to post his RESUM'E on the voting columns. If he cannot show he has indeed attained some remarkable credentials academically, intellectually, and careerwisely, and in leadership, why would we believe he can do what he says he can do for this super power country?!

And we need to change this campaign system or like Mike Huckabee said: the elites in this country need to be TRAINED how to use the campaign system in order to serve this country if they love this country, so the people would have some better choices of candidates, not to feel compulsory to choose the lesser of the evils, like what we have now.

I mailed a letter and 2 postcards to Senator McCain today. I bought a stack of post cards and put stamps on them. I get people who support Huckabee to fill them out and I put them in the mail. That way I know they will get mailed. I wrote the letter myself and atached an interesting article written the first week in December when neither McCain nor Huckabee were doing anything in the polls. The article said that McCain should be the nominee and Huckabee should be his vp. I thought this was quite intersting since at the time it appeared to be between Guiliani and Romney. Wow, maybe that is karma. You do know that McCain is very superstitous? Hopefully that article will find it's way to Senator McCain.

I read this article and emailed Novack to give him a piece of my mind. Told him if he couldn't name sources he should stop writing garbate and learn to write something positive for a change. No one with half a brain would believe a word of that junk!! The pleasure I took was that it has been stated from several sources at McCain's camp that they do indeed have some sense and are strongly considering Mike for McCain's vp. That gives me comfort and I just overlook the smear. However, we need to make comments because there are some who might want to feed off that junk and try and rile people up. Please go to the articles and make comments where allowed and email Novack to let him know how disgusted you are with his article! Let him know how much support Huckabee has and that we don't believe this trash!

Gov. Huckabee,

It's so funny that such a wonderful group of people are still supporting one of the most amazing men most of us have ever even known of...and yet, it feels like we're all sitting at the kitchen table playing a game at Thanksgiving. You have set a beautiful example of authenticity and joy-driven love.

This campaign has been a priceless time in our family's life. Being able to watch as you and Janet have shown the world what it means to live out loving Jesus authentically, and yet aspire to the highest position in our nation has been nothing but inspiring.

I have loved watching your supporters (including us) work hard, pray hard, find ways to work without angst with others who don't agree on everything, while watching both you and Janet model lives of integrity before us. My greatest joy throughout this campaign, even after you agreed to pull out, has been realizing that there are so many out there who truly love America, love God, and are willing to fight to be the United States of America, One Nation Under God, again. This is worth fighting for. Thank you for showing all of us how to live this out in the "real" world.

God bless you richly! And God, please bless America!

Dear Gov. Huckabee,
How did I come to know your candidacy? Hmmm... One July evening 2007, I decided to go online to do some research on the Republican candidates. I was intrigued by your name "Huckabee" because I thought that it sounded very "hick" in a very good way, of course;) (I'm a Filipino-American by the way) The very first video I viewed was on Youtube and you gave a speech at the Pastors and Pews Conference. After listening to you, I just knew that YOU were the one that I had been praying for to lead our nation. I got so excited that I even emailed our pastor and some church leaders regarding that video. A lot of them never heard of you until I had emailed them the video. Well, needless to say, they were all impressed and started following your candidacy. WE ALL DID! Including my husband who was an Independent but quickly changed to be a Republican so he can vote for you during our California primary.

Like countless others of your supporters, I have never followed a presidential candidacy with such vigor. I never emailed people, I never volunteered to call strangers and tell them about a candidate, and I have never donated to a candidate before...until you came along. Mr. Huckabee, I did all that for you because I believed that our Lord had greater plans for you to help bring this country back to our Christian heritage.

I also want you to know that I never cried for a candidate during his concession speech...but I certainly cried when you were giving your speech. But even then, I knew that our Lord had a "special plan" for you, it just wasn't the way we all planned it. Go figure, ay? God follow our plans? NOT! Or at least, not yet.

I'm a homemaker by choice, and my husband is a "struggling" small business owner. We have 3 kids aged 5, 7, and 9, and my little 5 yr. old son totally knows who you are and even thinks you're the president of the United States already. Of course, I told him not yet, but maybe someday.

God bless you Mr. Huckabee for all that you do to help all of us "little people". You have given an honest voice for a lot of us, even though our society thinks we don't exist anymore. You know...the type of family who cares about faith, family, and freedom!

May our Lord Jesus Christ bless you and your family always! Oh, and America too!

With sincere gratitude,
Joy Misa-De La Paz

Good to hear from you, Mr. Jim Edwards.... The cheer we gave you at that HUGE Plano Texas Huckabee rally still rings in my ears. : ) Though we got much louder for Mr. Huckabee himself!

Thank you for your work in Iowa and Texas and elsewhere.

Well, it looks like that idiot Robert Novak has stumbled into a hornet's nest with his stupid article. He should know better than to make us angry. This is the clearest evidence I've seen yet that the money-worshipers who have hijacked the Republican Party are still terrified of Mike’s growing national prominence.

We have an important test tomorrow. Huck PAC candidate Greg Davis is running for the open congressional seat in Mississippi, and is neck and neck with his Democratic challenger. Davis was behind 49% to 46% in the primary, so it's imperative that Huckabee supporters in Mississippi (I know there are droves of them) turn out for Davis.

Today Bob Barr announced he is seeking the Libertarian party nomination for president. This could seriously hurt John McCain, and may have an effect on his selection for VP. Many social conservatives and 2nd-ammendment voters will at least consider supporting Barr, especially if McCain selects a liberal for his VP.

McCain is doing very badly considering the circumstances. Today, an ABC news Washington Post poll put him behind Obama 51%-44% and behind Clinton 49%-46% despite all the negative publicity that Democrats have been getting as they squabble for the nomination. When the Democrats unify and start hammering McCain on Iraq and the economy, it won't be pretty. I'm not sure even Mike Huckabee could save McCain's candidacy.

If anyone is considering voting third party, my humble opinion is that Alan Keyes is not our guy. He's a wonderful man, but a perennial loser of elections (in 88, 92, 96, 2000, and 2004), and has never shown the discipline to run a serious campaign. He also got himself arrested at a debate, and his lesbian daughter accuses him of cutting off support for her education. These things may not be his fault, but they don't help his candidacy.

I don't know enough about Bob Barr yet to have an opinion.

I would support McCain Huckabee, although I'm afraid it might lose. Huckabee would have won, but there are too many Novaks in the world.

I want to agree with Sherri, when Huckabee didn't carry my home state of Virginia...I felt like crying too! And I DID cry when he withdrew from the race. All the excitement and anticipation made a quick, sheer bottom-out...I gave money for the first time in my life and I actively told people about Huckabee, including my staunch Dem grandparents (who ended up telling me they liked Huckabee!)

I'm a photographer, so when I went to my first ever Presidential rally in Virginia Beach, I took the opportunity to take pictures of Mike and Duncan Hunter on stage. I submitted the images to a stock image company, Dreamstime, and they accepted them as an "Editorial Picture!" That was exciting! It's even been downloaded once!

See them here:

I want to thank Mike for a good fight, a race well run! Thank you for bringing the true meaning of a Christian leader back to Presidential politics... you gave us HOPE!

I pray for you and your wonderful family.

MANY, MANY, BLESSINGS!

GO MIKE!!!!

Wish I could make it to the PHC commencement speech!

I read Robert Novak's article today, and, even though I actually agree that an Obama victory would be a much-deserved punishment for our country, I could not believe Huckabee would be so clumsy as to mention something like that to anyone.

I was actually encouraged by the suggestion Novak made that Mike is secretly allied with McCain's opposition, but only because I dislike McCain so much--not because I believe it's true.

I realize Mike has to support McCain now, but when McCain loses in November, as I'm afraid is inevitable, I am hoping and praying that Mike will pick up the broken pieces of the GOP and restore it to its original platform of protection for the weak and unborn, smaller government, lower taxes, elimination of the national deficit, and a Reagan-like foreign policy of peace through strength instead of endless wars and a perpetually depleted national defense.

To Ben Vos: Regarding John McCain's personal history, when a man and wife are forcibly separated for more than five years, he in prison under intense stress, and she running her own life without him, it is understandable that not only would they both change, but she would develop an independence that would make it difficult to restore the prior relationship. As much as I hate divorce, myself, I do not judge John McCain for what happened back then. It's not clear why you would unless you walked a mile in his shoes.

Ok, folks here is our chance to make a difference in the next 24-48 hours for Governor Huckabee as Senator McCain's choice for Vice President. Check the article in TODAY's(May 12, 2008) US News and World Report at: "Source: Huckabee Tops McCains Veep List"(all underlined). The uninformed bloggers, many of whom follow only the drive-by media(liberal and some conservative) are trashing Govenor Huckabee and we need to respond. A lot of the comments show little knowledge of: (1) Huckabee's ability to turn out convervative values voters--who are critical in this race and for electing McCain who can appoint conservative Supreme Court justices; (2) His crossover appeal to both Reagan Democrats and minorities(he got 40% of the African American votes in Arkansas; (3) Mike's ability to beat the Clinton machine 4 times in Arkansas, which WILL make a difference when Obama seals the nomination and he tries to work with the Clinton's nationally; (4) Huckabee's REAL record as a pragmatic economic economic conservative by providing leadership for Arkansas in many areas including investment in education(greatly improved), and highway infrastructure, and parks and recreational environment--these are national issues that Dems will vote for with Huckabee's POPULIST-CAPITALIST mix of economic policy. People who called him weak on economics ignore the fact that he was the ONLY candidate talking about a coming recession early last Fall;(5) Huckabee's communication skills and campaigning skills will be a huge plus for challenging the empty rhetoric of Obama and/or the detailed list of free government programs by Clinton--Mike can excite NEW voters who got into the campaign for Republicans like nobody else in the race;(6) His support for the FAIR TAX is the only innovative idea on the table--everybody else wants to tinker with the IRS instead of killing it and starting over with smaller government;(7)Huckabee has proposed a 10-plan for energy independence and understands how critical this issue is in terms of our sinking dollar on the international market and paying for the War On Terror;(8) Mike is for Fair Trade not Free Trade and shipping more jobs offshore; (9) He is touch with and relates to average voters who WILL carry this election--his humor is a plus and shows humanity and humility, not arrogant and elitest like some candidates have been;(10) Huckabee has the ONLY sensible long-term health care plan, i.e., focus on PREVENTATIVE health care while we fix the short-intermediate term of the current generations, ALL based on free market principles and NOT more giveaway programs.
PLEASE PLEASE CHECK THIS ARTICLE AND HELP HUCKABEE CONTINUE TO GET VERY SERIOUS CONSIDERATION FOR THE VEEP ROLE, BUT try to not over do the religiousity views that drives the liberals nuts. WE NEED PEOPLE FROM THE MIDDLE WHO WILL TAKE A SECOND AND THIRD LOOK AT GOVERNOR MIKE HUCKABEE OF THE GREAT STATE OF ARKANSAS. Hurry, next 24-48 hours.

Mike is such a good honest, humble and charismatic person. Let's show John McCain how strong and quick his Huckabee supporters are and help McCain and Huckabee get elected as President and Vice President of this great country we live in.

It would be really cool to see Mike playing the bass guitar in the White House! Go Mike Go!!!

Hi Mike!
I also read that article today and it is just typical of Novak to be so acidic and negative about you...he's done it a million times before on "Meet the Press" etc...
He likes to plant the seed of doubt in one's mind and stir up trouble. I agree with one of the others here,...he's only interested in pushing his own choice and that is Mr. Romney.
Hopefully his "view" will be ignored, as it should be. I was hoping there was a "comment" opportunity to his piece, but there wasn't. Otherwise I would have given him a piece of my mind!!!
ON a brighter note...it is GREAT to read about what you've been up to! Keep on doing what you're doing! We're still,...right here for you!

Gov. Huckabee,
Thank you for responding. I liked the response article by the ABC reporter/blogger, Jake Tapper, "Huckabee on Novak's Column: "It's Total and Absolute Nonsense"

Have you seen the article "Source: Huckabee Tops McCain's Veep List"
HotAir had an article on their site, too. Looks like they understand why McCain would consider you a plus.

Finally, now that Barry O’s the nominee, McCain has both a worry and an opportunity that he wouldn’t have had opposite Hillary: Turnout among black voters in the south is sure to be huge this year, which, coupled with a weak turnout among southern evangelicals, could be lethal by putting red states in play. Adding a prominent Christian to the ticket solves that problem and frees McCain up to focus on the battlegrounds instead of fighting a rearguard action to preserve his base. Adding Huckabee specifically to the ticket, with his blue-collar populist rhetoric, holds an extra advantage in giving him a shot at Hillary’s base of working-class Democrats in Pennsylvania and Ohio.

All of which is to say, while Hot Air readers might not like this idea, I can understand why Team Maverick might.

McCain/Huckabee 2008 will energize the moral value voters grassroots supporters. The Value Voter wrote an awesome article about the majority of blacks being moderate to conservative. A McCain/Huckabee ticket can help reach them. Just imagine the enthusiasm of the youth voters with Rocky/Walker speaking for McCain/Huckabee. If McCain is really intelligent enough to pick you as VP; the GOP might win by a landslide.

No questions about McCain's faith, family or commitment to freedom? What? Regarding his faith - what's up with his late arrival to the Baptist church? What's going on with seeking the endorsement of Hagee and accepting Rod Parsley's argument that the US was founded to combat Islam? I think there are questions on his faith.

No questions about his family? I think a Baptist minister in Des Moines recently raised an important question about McCain's love and respect for his wife. McCain dodged the question.

McCain divorced his first wife. Why? Mike, you stood by your wife in tough times. You know how hard it can be. But why did McCain leave his first wife and marry Cindy? That's an unanswered question.

No questions about his commitment to freedom? What's going on with selecting a PR firm for the convention that supported the government of Myanmar? You call that a commitment to freedom? I call it not doing your homework, to say the least. And with a nation further in debt than ever before, I'm not sure how free we really are. We give up about $400 of freedom per person per year with this endless war in Iraq.

Mike, I appreciate your commitment to the ideals of the Republican party. But why support John McCain?

I wanted to first say that it is too good of timing for Novak to write an article about Huck on the same day that the vice-presidential article comes out. He, of course, does not want Huck on the ticket, so he is using his pen to push that agenda. I personally would love to have Huck as VP.

I also want to share that I had the chance to meet Governor Huckabee. I met him at a Huck and Chuck rally in Des Moines, IA.
I was on the front row during the big victory speech. Not to mention, at the Huck and Chuck rally, I got a HIGH FIVE from Governor Huckabee (after telling him to remember "Verticle Politics". I, then, went back to school, Vanderbit University, and spoke on behalf of Governor Huckabee at a "mock caucus" event. Here it is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PPgxtgZdfLk My friend and I spoke at 6:05 and I also speak at 7:44. In a simple sentence, I want a president, or vice-president, that actually cares about people, a person that puts people above political score.

God bless. I still like Mike:)

Glad you jumped pronto into a reponse to this Novak article. I remember another "anonymous" Novak hit piece against you during the campaign. It's fascinating that you're off doing your own thing, bothering no one, and certain media still feel threatened by you enough to create something like this out of air. Apparently, you're a dangerous man, Governor! Watch out: next Rush will get an "anonymous" phone call and spend the rest of the month dissing you.

God bless America. None of us wants or needs Obama.

What's this from U.S. News & World Report

flip flop it if necessary...Sorry if I don't
