Candidate News Roundup

As all of you know, the upcoming Congressional elections are extremely important for all conservatives.  Huck PAC is working hard to help those candidates that best represent the values that are important to all of us.  Below are three Huck PAC endorsed candidates for Congress.  We urge you to do all that you can to help these strong conservatives win their congressional seats.

Greg Davis, the Huck PAC candidate for Congress in the 1st  Congressional District of Mississippi remains locked in a close contest.  Huck PAC encourages everyone who lives in Greg’s district to volunteer to help him keep this seat in Republican hands.  The runoff election is scheduled for May 13.  There is still time to make a difference in Greg’s campaign.  We need strong conservative candidates like Greg in Congress, helping us to achieve our conservative goals.  Go here to volunteer for Greg’s campaign.

John Linder is the Huck PAC candidate for Congress in the 7th Congressional District of Georgia.  John is a strong conservative candidate and one of the guiding forces of the Fair Tax.  It is extremely important this election year, that we support strong conservative candidates like John Linder to represent our conservative values in Congress.  Grassroots volunteers are essential in order for us to help candidates like John.  Please go here to volunteer for John’s campaign.  Go here to donate to John’s campaign.

Bob Clegg is our candidate for Congress in the 2nd Congressional District of New Hampshire.  Bob is a strong conservative voice for all of us.  Huck PAC urges all supporters in Bob’s Congressional District to volunteer to help this good man in his campaign.  Go here to volunteer.  Visit Bob’s website to donate.

I don't live in his district but Duncan Hunter's son Duncan D could use a lot of support in his campaign for his father's seat. Please help him if you can.

    Thanks

Huck's Army sent me these results:
    Election Results
    INDIANA (100% reporting):
    John McCain 317,794 81.43%
    Mike Huckabee 40,995 10.50%
    Ron Paul 31,456 8.06%

    NORTH CAROLINA (100% reporting):
    John McCain 381,139 78.69%
    Mike Huckabee 62,918 12.99%
    Ron Paul 40,275 8.32%

What I find interesting is that Mitt Romney was listed on the Indiana ballot along with Mike, McCain and Paul. But no votes for him. Yet, Mike, who also stopped campaigning(technically), still got votes. Hmmmmm.

Somewhere on this website, I read an article of particular interest by one of the contributors. From the information this person provided, apparently one of John McCain's close advisors mentioned Romney would never be chosen as Vice President, because the rift between McCain and Romney go all the way back to the Winter Olympics that were held in Salt Lake City because of pork barrel spending. This was news to me, and so I googled all the information I could and came up with some interesting facts.
It is true that McCain and Romney had some very strong disagreements at this time due to the Olympics. I can definitely see where two sincere men disagreed for honorable reasons. John McCain has always fought valiantly against pork barrel spending, and Mitt Romney was dedicated in turning the Olympics around so it would be a shining point in our history instead of the disaster that it had become. Senator McCain thought that the Federal Government would have to dole out $1.5 billion to save the Olympics. Mitt Romney was certain it would take $250 million. In reality, the total cost was $400 million. More than what Mitt Romney thought, but far less than what Senator McCain estimated. The Insider Report of February 10, 2008 stated, "In the end, the federal tab....totaled about $400 million, and the games were a financial success."
The reason Romney was able to keep the cost much lower than McCain thought it would take is he was brilliant at finding ways to get people to donate and/or volunteer their talents. He went to millionaires and billionaires who agreed to give very generous contributions. Because of his leadership and obvious gift and ability to communicate, people immediately trusted him and knew he could turn things around. He had the knack of knowing the best people he could surround himself with and be in charge of such things as security measures, transportation, construction, etc. He inspired people. Many of the neighboring towns and cities contributed financially and many people volunteered their talents without pay. Some of the better known celebrities such as Steve Young (former Quarterback for the Forty-Niners) and Olympian Dan Jansen happily volunteered their talent and experience.
I don't mean for this to be a lengthy dissertation, but in closing this entry, I want to quote some well-known people starting with Rudy Giuliani. Rudy states, "Because of the bid scandal and the threat of terrorism after 9/11, the Salt Lake City Winter Olympic game may go down in history as perhaps the most challenging to produce, yet one that has the deepest meaning for the country and for the people who produced them. Mitt Romney's contribution will be part of Olympic lore for generations to come."
Bill Merriott stated, "From a big mess to a big success, the story of the Winter Olympics is a great example for anyone facing an uphill challenge in business, in government, or in life."
Sherri Dew, a well-known author and business woman, stated, "Mitt Romney is the consummate leader with a rare combination of talent, sincerity, and charisma. In a world where "spin" is too often king, he is the real deal. What he did with SLC's Olympic Games is the stuff of which legends are made...."
One more comment: Linda and Richard Eyre, New York Times Best selling authors of "Teaching Your Children Values, said, "The Olympics gave us stories about values and heroes. In 2002, some of the best stories and heroes were the people who volunteered their time, put their reputations on the line, and took the impossible task of turning the games around."

I don't think many people fully appreciate what Mitt Romney, his team, and so many other leaders and volunteers did. I am sure Senator McCain now realizes their differences were small in comparison to how proud the American people were for this great Olympic event. In fact, I don't see it as pork barrel spending. It is America's contribution to an event that brought the world together at a very troubling time in history. One more final note, Mitt Romney was one of the volunteers, since he didn't take one penny in wages or fees. One of his stipulations in taking over the Olympics was that he not be paid. I have read about many other charitable acts he has done. A comment was made that he can easily be charitable, because he is so rich. That is irrelevant. He chooses to spend a good part of his money to help others. That is when being wealthy is not a sin. He volunteered his time with the Olympics because of patriotism and love of his country.
Whether or not Senator McCain has him in mind as one of his choices for Vice President, we owe a lot to Mitt Romney.
In case anyone is interested, I am not a Mormon. I belong to no denomination--although I believe in God and am a Christian.

According to FOXnews.com, Mike picked up 8 delegates in North Carolina, bringing his total to
    278. (Romney has 260)
Thanks to all of you in North Carolina that voted for him. Even though he is no longer running, that sure looks good!

California voters, a vote is coming up, and there are two propositions, initiative constitutional amendments, which would put some limits on government authority.
Please vote, for the propositions and for the Republican candidates!
If you are planning on donating some money to the Huck PAC, please consider using Ranger code R23872, and I will try to send one email of candidate recommendation to the Huck PAC for each $10, and if phone banks are added, I will try to make a call for each $5.

John McCain is running a Spanish Campaign now! He is following the leads of former presidents Washington (who campaigned in English), Jefferson (who campaigned in French), Teddy Roosevelt (who campaigned in Italian), Franklin Roosevelt (who campaigned in German and Japanese), Kennedy (who campaigned in Russian), Carter (who campaigned in Arabic and still does), Nixon (who campaigned in Vietnamese), and Clinton (who campaigned in burlesque and still does) - NOT!!!!!!!!

Oh wait......... George Washington really did campaign in English and John McCain really is campaigning in Spanish!

Families are great, but national security and the rule of law are great for all families, regardless of ethnicity. Real Hispanic Americans used to want to learn our language. They used to be willing to fight for the privilege of being bilingual English speaking Americans (just like German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, and every other sort of LEGAL immigrant). John McCain forgot the Alamo - someone remind him.

Here is a copy of the email I sent to Lindsey Graham today:

    Senator Graham,

I will be voting for Buddy Witherspoon this time around because of your failure to support the FairTax bill and because of your inaction concerning the alarming invasion of our homeland. Apparently, Santa Anna should have just let his troops walk across the border unarmed, find jobs, and stay in our country illegally without paying taxes!

Secondly, you should listen to reason and to your fellow conservative South Carolinians instead of taking your marching orders from John McCain. Congressmen Brown and Barrett are sponsors of the FairTax (H25 and S1025). Joe Wilson and Jim DeMint also support this bill. I urge you to learn more about the FairTax and lend your support (you must not know much about it since you don't support it).

These two issues are the main reasons you are being challenged. If Dr. Witherspoon is unsuccessful, then I will support any challenger who will protect our borders, see that our immigration laws are enforced, and work to abolish our current punitive tax system. If you remain in office, you will hear more about these issues from the people of South Carolina until you change course.

    Thanks.

    Mike -

Just a quick note asking for prayer and advice on the upcoming Indiana State Republican Convention (June 1-2) in Indianapolis. I am an at large delegate, but am apprehensive about the convention and what exactly my part will be. I don't want to just tow the party line and go with the flow. The main reason I wanted to be a delegate in the first place was to support your campaign for President. I know that this is still where the Lord wants me to be, but I just don't know yet what my part will be. I have been to a political convention before and know they are jam packed with sinful activities - drinking, gossiping, slandering, bribing, etc. and by people who say they are conservative and pro-family. I am praying about asking others to join me in a prayer meeting the night before the convention and then the morning of. I believe this event needs to be bathed in prayer especially for us as believers because as scripture says there are "savage wolves" out to destroy us.
Thank you in advance, Mike, for your encouragement and advice. And thanks to others who have advice and will pray as well.

    Mike -

Just to let you know we had a good primary with good voter turnout (at least on the democratic side) here in northern Indiana. We have some excellent conservative minded judges and local people here who will be filling offices pending November's election.

Please contact your Congressmen and Senators about two dangerous pieces of legislation:

    1. ENDA (which is in the US House): This act proposes to prohibit all employers from "discriminating" against employees based on "sexual orientation." But, the very concept of "sexual orientation" is a lie of the homosexual agenda. There is no such thing as "sexual orientation." This is a manufactured term made up by the homosexual activists to suggest that engaging in homosexual behavior is akin to race, ethnicity, or gender. It is not. Behavior is *behavior*. We all have the capacity as human beings to rationally decide what we are going to do. Those who engage in homosexual acts are *doing* something that they have *decided* to *do*. It is NOT sexual "orientation." It is sexual *behavior*.

If you stop a minute to think about what actually occurs in homosexual sexual acts, and if you stop and consider how the human body was designed and, therefore, how homosexual sexual acts expose a man to the most unhealthy situation imaginable—if you really think objectively about those things—you will want to fight against the entire homosexual agenda, including ENDA. Anyone who engages in such disgusting acts should not be protected from discrimination on the basis of their doing those very acts.

    2. S. 1375: Mom's Opportunity to Access Health, Education, Research, and Support
for Postpartum Depression Act (which is in the US Senate).

While purporting to be a bill of compassion for women suffering from postpartum depression, this bill actually is intrusive and dangerous. It would very likely lead to forcing women to take certain medications, which can have very serious mental side effects. It is no coincidence that many of the supporters of this bill are part of the abortion lobby. Mandating screening of women for postpartum depression is more government intrusion and has an anti-family agenda. It could even lead to forced contraception, sterilization, or abortion
    in the future.

Please ask your senators to vote against this bill, or, better yet, never let it come to the floor.

I just heard about this on the May issue of LifeTalk (an excellent prolife monthly video from Life Dynamics--see www.prolifeAmerica.com). A guest on the show described the horrible effects she experienced from medication she was given for this, and she is trying to make folks aware of it. Senator Tom Coburn, a good prolife man who is also an OBGYN, has been trying to fight this bill.

I hope you will contact your Congressmen and Senators about ENDA, and contact your Senators about this postpartum bill, and ask them not to support them.

    God Bless You!
Also, another terrible piece of legislation is ENDA, which would seek
to elevate homosexual behavior to the same status as race, gender, and
ethnicity. It is currently in the US House. It was proposed by
Democrat Congressman Barney Frank, an open homosexual. Please contact
your senators and Congressmen to oppose it.

Thank you and God bless you.

I voted for Mike Huckabee on primary day in NC, and I hope that gets noticed by McCain and the Republican party as well. I'm a FairTax advocate and we need Mike Huckabee to keep spreading the word. No one knows and can talk about the FairTax like Mike!

    Mike,

I truly appreciate your efforts in helping strong conservative candidates' campaigns. I have just begun to research the candidate's running for election in my area (Kansas City, Kansas Metro). Nick Jordan appears to be a great candidate for the 3rd Congressional District of Kansas, but may need your help to beat out Democratic incumbant Dennis Moore.

I believe you have an enormous amount of influence in Kansas and I cannot wait to see who you will support in our area.

Thanks again for all of your hard work!

Governor Huckabee is reading Proverbs 8 on May 8. Let's all join him!

    Proverbs 8

For example, verse 11 says, "For wisdom is more precious than rubies, and nothing you desire can compare with her."
