Gov. Huckabee headed to Mississippi

Gov. Huckabee is headed to Mississippi to campaign for Greg Davis.

A press release announcing event is below:

Gov. Mike Huckabee to Campaign for Greg Davis
Meet & Greet with Governor Mike Huckabee and Greg Davis

May 1, 2008– Former Presidential candidate and Former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee will be attending a “Meet and Greet” for Greg Davis, candidate for Congress in Mississippi’s 1st Congressional District. Governor Huckabee is in town to endorse Greg Davis and to ensure that the residents of the district come out and support Davis’ bid for Congress.

With the special election runoff on May 13, Governor Huckabee will meet with Greg Davis and his supporters this Saturday, May 3rd at 9:45AM at Joe Joe’s Espresso & Café in Tupelo, MS.

Davis stated “I’m honored to welcome Governor Huckabee to Mississippi. He is a true conservative leader, one who shares the values of the voters of Mississippi’s First Congressional District. This election is about the difference between principled leadership and those who will say anything to get elected. I am honored to stand with leaders like Mike Huckabee on principles, not politics.”

The public is invited to attend.

Georges: Oh! So close! You had me right up to the point where you got condescending...well okay not that far, I don't agree with your assessment of that ad either.

You could have made the exact same point without being snotty about it.

That said, I'm not sure I agree with Elisa's interpretation of the ad either, at least in so far as she seems to be saying that it is just about Obama being a flaming liberal. I think it is that, but it is also about how his judgment is suspect, as he associates freely with people that hate this country, and says things himself that no sane person would say when there was a microphone in the vicinity...and Childers apparently had no issue with either of those things, if one can believe the ad.

Obama could be brown, yellow, black, or white, and his judgment would still demonstrably be shaky. There's nothing racist about pointing out that someone's judgment shouldn't be trusted, or that this deficiency was painfully obvious, yet someone said nothing about it.

Ann Dodds: I think you are misunderstanding how brackets work. Mike Huckabee's only competition right now is Lindsay Graham that he is paired with. Romney is kicking butt on Marsha Blackburn currently, not Huckabee.

LATER brackets, this may become a concern, but they are not facing one another yet.

I believe McCain will pick Mike Huckabee as his vp running mate and we all should believe this. We KNOW that Mike has all the qualifications McCain needs, plus the two of them have unbeatable chemistry (97.7%). McCain will have to "just get a feeling" of who is right for him and that will be Mike. He will have to make the final choice himself, but there is no other logical choice. Why pick a Pawlenty or Portman when Mike is nationally known, hugely more popular, can bring votes across a broad base of people and has the chemistry thing going..... tell everyone you know that you are sure it's McCain/Huckabee'08 for the win!!!!Iowalocation

Those comments supposedly from Obama are actually not from him at all, but from a columnist who wrote a hypothetical, satirical answer to questions about Obama's patriotism such as he envisioned Obama might give. Apparently some people misunderstood the context of the article and thought Obama actually made those statements.

Don't get me wrong--I'm definitely not an Obama fan. But we don't do ourselves any favors by spreading stories like this as fact when they're really not.

I am glad to see Gov Huckabee making such an effort to support conservative candidates throughout the nation.

Both he and Mitt Romney are using their strengths to support the conservative cause. Mitt is using his financial connections and Mike is using his great speaking and media ability. They may battle again in 2012 or 2016 but right now, the most important is getting conservatives elected in 2008.

Although I am disappointed, I beleive that neither one will be the VP nominee this year.

A democrat Pres and congress would be disastrous to the conservative cause. We all need to follow the example and use our best abilities to support conservative causes.

Mrs P. please tell me you are kidding about about Obama's comments regarding the flag pin and not saluting the flag and his IDIOTIC comments about the National Anthem. I know you must be telling the truth, but boy does it make me want to ring his neck!!!! I haven't felt such pride then through the last few months when I have had a chance to pray with fellow Republicans at the Caucas, recite the Pledge of Allegiance at the County Convention, and last Weekend standing in SafeCo field with thousands of folks as we sang the National Anthem. All of these hallmarks of our Country brought me pride and tears. Obama is a dope and as my college roommate would say, "it is better to keep your mouth shut and appear ignorant, than to open it and remove all doubt."
I hope his comments get out and people see him for who he really is! Thanks for sharing

    05/01/2008 12:20 PM

I am so excited that Huckabee is coming to Ms.!!!!

This past Sat. we had our Rep. caucus & local Rep. Convention.
I participated in both. I also filed a letter of concern to the State Rep. Party, to be addressed at the State Rep. Convention. Letter:
    Ms. Republican Party
    Jackson, Ms.

    To whom it may concern:
I just participated in our local Republican Caucus.
At our local Republican Convention I stated a concern and was asked to put it in a form of a letter.

I believe there are many Republicans like myself, who were really upset with the National Republican Primary. And like many the "voters" are not really informed with all the procedures involved in selecting a Republican Presidential Candidate. But from what little we have learned, this past season, we do know that the process needs an overhaul, at the State and National level.

These are a few things that concern us:
1.) Ms. Did not have a voice in the selection of the candidate.
When it was our turn to vote - the previous states had already decided for us.
Perhaps have a "National Primary Day" or divide it into 2 or 4 Primary Days (North & South Primary or North, South, East & West Primary)
2.) The Original Candidates did not have a "Fair" playing field.
Not with the "Republican Elites" of the Party, the "Republican Talking Heads" or the Media.
We deserved the right to hear the candidates talk about their stance on the issues - and not one sided debates - leveled at telling us who to vote for.
3.) And we question the "Delegate" votes. Remember shat happened in La.?
Shouldn't National Election Primaries be the same from one state to the other?
And State Election then would be done by state rules>
4.) Most of the Candidates did not evben line up with the "Party Platform."

The people that I know really feel like their votes don't matter, and if we don't do something soon we will loose a lot of them.

So, please consider these issues at the Ms. State Republican Convention. And I respectfully ask for a response to this request:
    Thanks,
    _________________________
    Delana K. Newton Date

I understand that "Change" will begin only at the local level. I believe that is what Huckabee is trying to do. If we all will address the issues to our local Republican Party then maybe change for the good will begin.
I am still struggling with trying to support Huckabee and not supporting McCain.
I'm still hoping McCain will choose Huckabee as VP - then I will support the Republican Party in Nov.

As far as coming to Ms. - Thank You!!
Ms. has always been considered the least of all 50 states!
I was not born here, but my husband and 2 of my 3 children were.
They are for the most part - a hard working people who love the simple pleasures that life affords. They love their country, their family and their God. In fact if you want "fighting" men who will stand against the enemy - Am. will choose our southern boys!
They are not the scum of the earth! They are the cream of the crop!
And they are so busy like the rest of us they can't oversee every decision the "Leaders" in Politics make for them. The same kind of politics we just witnessed with "Huckabee" - is evident in all our states.
So please come Huckabee and bring HOPE to Ms.

Davis is a far better choice than the Obama backed Childers (who also gave Kerry $2000.00 for his Presidential Run).
    Thanks

To Ms Beeson: John McCain has announced that there is a process in place to narrow the list of candidates for his running mate. From his activities, that process would appear to include (a) spending time on the campaign trial with some of them, and (b) encouraging them to develop a good working relationship with the Republican National Committee. When he finally makes his choice, he will want to be sure that those not chosen have no grounds for complaint. It is still early. I would counsel patience and confidence. If he wants to be elected President, he will choose Mike Huckabee.

Somebody just sent me this email. It might be something that been around for a while but its my first time seeing it. I did some checking and everything I've looked at says its for real (although its so ludicrous I have a hard time believing it). Is it possible a man running for the president of the U.S., considered a serious contender, could think this way?

On Sat, 22 Mar 2008 18:48:04 -0400, "LTG Bill Ginn" USAF ret forwarded:

Hot on the heels of his explanation for why he no longer wears a flag pin,
presidential candidate Senator Barack Obama was forced to explain why he
doesn't follow protocol when the National Anthem is played.

According to the United States Code, Title 36, Chapter 10, Sec. 171, During
rendition of the national anthem when the flag is displayed, all present
except those in uniform are expected to stand at attention facing the flag
with the right hand over the heart.

"As I've said about the flag pin, I don't want to be perceived as taking
sides," Obama said. "There are a lot of people in the world to whom the
American flag is a symbol of oppression. And the anthem itself conveys a
war-like message. You know, the bombs bursting in air and all. It should be
swapped for something less parochial and less bellicose. I like the song
    'I'd
Like to Teach the World to Sing.' If that were our anthem, then I might
    salute
    it."

Every day, Governor Huckabee reads a chapter of Proverbs. He has been doing this since age 18 -- no wonder he has such wisdom. Let's all read and pray the principles and promises of Proverbs 1 with him today, and trust God for what He will do on May 1! Today is the National Day Of Prayer, and the Lord is listening, ready to answer...

    Proverbs 1

For example, verse 7 says, "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and discipline."

We still believe God to change everything in a single day! In the meantime, we support Governor Huckabee's various means of visibility, including mentions of him as Vice President (although we all know he's the right man for the Presidency). The ABC News Veepstakes Poll is still underway. Governor Huckabee is first at 32% but needs to keep increasing the margin!! Let's be vigilant and move him to more than 33% today in honor of the National Day Of Prayer!!

    ABC Veepstakes Poll

    The current numbers are:

Who do you think McCain should pick as his running mate?
    Tim Pawlenty 3% (228 votes)

    Mark Sanford 2% (117 votes)

    Mitt Romney 21% (1464 votes)

    Condoleezza Rice 25% (1725 votes)

    Charlie Crist 5% (375 votes)

    Jon Huntsman <1% (27 votes)

    John Thune 1% (83 votes)

    Rob Portman <1% (45 votes)

    Christopher Cox <1% (36 votes)

    Mike Huckabee 32% (2175 votes)

    Other 9% (596 votes)

Letter to the Dayton Daily News – Apr. 30, 2008

    God’s Straight Talk Express
    Required Cedarville University Debate

Mike and Janet Huckabee have graciously consented to campaign and help raise money for John and Cindy McCain’s Straight Talk Express.

Cindy has openly admitted that Sen. John McCain and former Arkansas First Lady Janet McCain Huckabee must be related since they both hail from southwestern states.

Former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee quipped that he was too nice to Sen. McCain on the campaign trail.

The former presidential candidate may be forgiving, but the Huckabee Rangers who sacrificed time and money and stood on the street corners waving Huckabee signs in the blustery winter weather may not be quite as willing to forget the loyalty and blood, sweat and tears they paid to this congenial, soft-spoken, articulate pastor who gave voice to their heartfelt conservative values and beliefs about how America should be governed.

Former Governor Mike Huckabee and his conservative friends in Ohio asked Senator John McCain to a debate at Cedarville University the week before the March 4 Super Tuesday presidential primary.

Ohioans are still waiting for their debate, since McCain was too busy having a barbecue at his ranch with his GOP buddies to give the voters the public discussion they were eagerly waiting for.

President John Quincy Adams, sixth president of the United States, in a letter to his son, September 1811, said, “I have myself, for many years, made it a practice to read through the Bible once every year. . . . My custom is to read four to five chapters every morning immediately after rising from my bed. It employs about an hour of my time.

It is essential, my son, in order that you may go through life with comfort to yourself, and usefulness to your fellow creatures, that you should form and adopt certain rules or principles, for the government of your own conduct and temper.

It is in the Bible, you must learn them, and from the Bible how to practice them. Those duties are to God, your fellow-creatures, and to yourself. . . The Bible . . . contains the history of the creation of the world, and of mankind, and afterward the history of one peculiar nation, certainly the most extraordinary nation that has ever appeared upon the earth.”

That same Bible says, “Seek good and not evil and live! You talk about God, the God-of-the-Angel-Armies, being your best friend. Well, live like it, and maybe it will happen.

Hate evil and love good, then work it out in the public square. Maybe God, the God-of-the-Angel-Armies will notice your remnant and be gracious.” AMOS 5:14-15

If John McCain wants to convince the Huckabee supporters to vote for him in November, he may want to choose Mike Huckabee as his vice-presidential running mate, and clean up his act regarding his May, 2007 vote in support of funding embryonic stem-cell research.

Huckabee Rangers who support a Human Life Amendment to protect innocent life and snowflake babies will be watching to see if

McCain is all talk or if he can put some substance behind his campaign rhetoric.

If you have a crack of time, don't forget to visit the Pontotoc Amish Community there near Tupelo. You will see women, children with plain clothes, married men with big beard and quite a few horse carriages on the road! When I was in Tupelo working on a contract assignment for 2 years, I always loved to buy real butter, real eggs, real soap, real essence, real candle, real veggies (organic & great price!) from them.

They are just super super nice people to do business with and talk to, only a little bit eccentric!

I called McCain's headquarters today to ask if there was a schedule of appearances where Governor Huckabee would be campaigning with Senator McCain and she had me talk with the press secretary. She referred me to the event calendar on McCain's site and, of course, there was nothing there. I told her that I saw that Fred Thompson was campaigning with MCain in NC, but saw nothing beyond that. (was at first surprised that Mike would not be in NC with McCain til I realized Mike is still on the ballot there and having Mike with McCain there would probably not be wise for McCain.)
Any, way the point is, please call 703-418-2008 and ask for McCain/Huckabee scheduled appearances and ask for McCain/Huckabee ticket to win. I mailed a letter to Senator McCain yesterday, one of many emails and several letters, postcards, phone calls sent. I think a snail letter may get more attention than emails because they probably receive fewer of those. Keep the communication going to the McCain camp that we like Mike...power in numbers!!!

Granny T's post on Hucks Army today:

“Icing on the Cake for a 2008 McCain Win”

McCain has won the nomination and the Republican Party has started campaigning for the general election; which means moving toward the middle to woo Independents and Democrats. With his “maverick” record, McCain has the ability to win some by himself. He has foreign policy experience, spending restraint, and a strong military backing. He needs to decide which potential VP candidate can help him seal the deal. He needs someone with chief executive experience working across party lines accomplishing things on the GOP platform, restoring and improving things funded by the government as fiscally responsible as possible. He especially needs help with rural areas, small towns, the religious right, and the south.

Since the Democrats have been extremely successful at fund raising; he needs help there. Romney has been doing a pretty good job; but will it be enough once the nomination is clenched? The Democrat candidates have been spending massive amounts on campaigning. They have plenty of wealthy backers and 527s.

McCain may need a VP that can help with campaigning on a tight budget with lots of grassroots support. If Obama wins the Democrat nomination; McCain will need a VP with good communication skills that can help promote the GOP platform message, appeals to conservative black voters, the youth voters, disgruntled union workers, and small town “bitter” religious gun toting voters. If Hillary wins the Democrat nomination; McCain will need someone that can appeal to the disgruntled black voters, the more conservative union and small town voters, and has experience fighting against the “Clinton machine.” Gov. Mike Huckabee’s record fills all of the most needed qualities plus one that isn’t mentioned often. Let me explain.

I was a Reagan Democrat and agree with Reagan, I didn’t leave the Democrat Party, they left me. What happened to “Ask not what your country can do for you; ask what you can do for your country”? Reaganomics works. Republicans help take care of our wallets by keeping taxes low enough that employers can afford to pay employees and both are willing to work harder to gain more. Many of our party are looking for the next Reagan. There will never be another Ronald Reagan. But, I believe Gov. Huckabee has many similarities and I’d like to point out some of them.

    • Strong on the pro-life issue
    • Supports a pro-life amendment
    • Strong on gun rights
    • Attacked by Republican elites
    • Democrats think he’d be easy to beat
    • Promotes helping small business owners
    • Promotes changing our tax system to encourage productivity
    • Promotes personal responsibility
    • Reaching out to the blue collar workers (the middle class majority)
    • Communicates well explaining why he believes what he believes
    • Believes the state is responsible for its parks, schools, roads, etc.
    • Willing to raise state taxes for fiscally responsible state funded responsibilities
    • Wants to leave the place better than it was before he came
    • Promotes stronger military
    • Promotes border security
    • Promotes US sovereignty
    • Against LOST, the Law of the Sea Treaty
    • Supports Israel
    • Believes Judges appointed are a major decision
    • Has a good sense of humor
    • Worked as radio sportscasters
    • Former Governor
    • Listens to “we the people”
    • Willing to serve the people rather than rule the people
    • Got things done even if they didn’t do it like everyone else
    • Strong leader
    • Wants to run a clean campaign concentrating on the issues
    • Willing to seek God’s help

McCain’s and Huckabee’s strengths overcome the weaknesses of the other. A McCain/ Huckabee ticket can help bring Reagan Democrats and Independents back to the Republican Party. McCain/Huckabee and their grassroots support could make a Reagan-like GOP victory possible.
