Just Another Beautiful Spring Day

The day that most Americans dread is here. April 15 - Tax day - the day the IRS strikes fear into the heart of every taxpaying American. Did you know that this year Tax Freedom Day won't occur until April 23? Tax Freedom Day is the day that the American Taxpayer begins to earn money that they can spend for things other than taxes. Even though Tax Freedom Day is three days earlier than 2007 (because of the tax stimulus package) it is still a sad fact that the average American must work almost four months just to pay their taxes.

The Tax Foundation reports "in 2008, Americans will work 74 days to afford their federal taxes and 39 more days to pay state and local taxes." American taxpayers spend more on taxes than they do on food, clothing and housing combined. No wonder all of us hate to see April 15 roll around. All of you have often heard me say during my recent Presidential campaign that I'd like to be the president that nails the going-out-of-business sign on the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) doors.

Just imagine, April 15 as just another beautiful spring day…

How can you and I make this happen? The answer is amazingly simple - we need to enact the FairTax.

Here is how the fair tax works:

You get rid of income tax.

You get rid of all withholding taxes.

You get rid of corporate taxes completely.

You eliminate the corporate tax because corporations don't really pay them, they just pass them on to you and me. Elimination of the corporate taxes means the prices of what you purchase will go down.

You replace it with a 23 percent consumption tax. Don't let that 23 percent figure fool you. You only pay when you purchase something new, whether it's a product or a service.

You see the Fair Tax is a completely transparent tax system. It doesn't increase taxes. It's revenue neutral and the end result is that it will lower your tax burden and bring capital and business back to the United States – business that is leaving because our tax laws make it impossible for an American-based business to compete. All of us will get a monthly rebate that will reimburse us for taxes on purchases up to the poverty line, so that we're not taxed on necessities. People below the poverty line won't be taxed at all. We'll be taxed on what we decide to buy, not what we happen to earn. We won't be taxed on what we choose to save or the interest those savings earn.

Now the skeptics will say the FairTax is impossible to enact. We will see. What I do know is we won’t have a chance if we don’t have the courage and the leadership in Congress to see the task through. That is where Huck PAC comes in.

Candidates Huck PAC supporters will be tax cutters and strong advocates for less government, because the path to a FairTax is far more certain when you walk into a room full of small government, tax-cutting Republicans.

Help us fill the room and lets make April 15 just another beautiful Spring day.

Very pl4eased you are still bringing the FairTax to the front. I have been, along with others in Illinois, educating citizens for the past 5 years. We are planting seeds on a daily basis.
I have followed your campaign during the presidential campaign (even before) and you are no doubt the most consistent candidate across the board. You haven't changed your views on important issues (no flip-flops') and even if you did I am sure you would have the honesty to say why you have changed your position.
Leadership in the republican party of Illinois is a "shambles" and we need some help. Now that you are working with other states and candidates is heir a possibility you will be working with anyone in Illinois?
The good ole boys are losing US congressional seats, e.g., 14th district (vacated Hastert seat) to the democratic party (1st democratic win for this district since 1903) and the republican candidate, in my opinion, is not qualified.
I am getting my head out of the sand and will be helping in the spirit of leaders I know are acting for the good of the republican party, e.g., Lauzen, Rauschenberger, Fitzgerald and two others that made up the Fab 5 15 years ago.
Let me know if I can assist and I thank you

You know, mr Huckabee, I have a keen eye for a persons character but you have taught me that sometimes I am wrong. My daughter said vot for Mr Huckabee . I said he cant win.
That was not accurate. That is defeatism. You have won over great adversities. Myself, I dont pretend to know evrty thing but I know an ace when I see one. You taught me not to worship the god of electibliness..but to go for whatever God has planned. The milk sours. Opinions shift fast ...people move on. But not you. I am from Arkansas and admire your bold leadership especially on the FairTax. You had the courage to take on the big challenge and in plain English explain it to the American People. I am working on it every day for my children, Grand Children, and Great Grand Children. I want them to have at least the same chance we had at the American Dream. My Wife and I have been blessed and I want the same for them as long as it is their desire and they are willing to work to achieve their dreams. Thanks in advance for your future help.

The Fair Tax Plan is the only plan that will fund the Government at the current level, and yet make it the citizen's decision when to pay their taxes.
This plan has the opportunity to bring American jobs back from global outsource countries to get the best work force on earth.
If any politician is serious about individual rights, and removing the power from politicians in Washington, to return the power to people of America - the Fair Tax is the plan.
Let us live above class warfare which is the norm for our current tax code! Most politicians say this plan is unlikely to pass. If you want to know the reason here it is - They know that such a plan renders their political skill powerless! They will no longer be able to use the current tax code as means of purchasing votes.

Engineer fo Huckabee and Helping Huckabee,
H.H. makes a good point, but there are two other reasons the trucker would "Fair" better with the FairTax:

    1. He would no longer be paying Self Employment Tax. (a very rediculous thing to tax - a tax you pay as punishment for not belonging to the union I guess). I am assuming he is self employed since he is worried about going out of business.

    2. Most importantly the trucker would not be paying consumption tax on his fuel purchases anyway! THE FAIR TAX DOES NOT APPLY TO BUSINESS AND FARM EXPENSES!!!

    Please notify all the truckers!

I believe the FairTax is 100% better than the current system. Everyone should go to FairTax.org and check it out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Engineer for Huckabee
    04/16/2008 12:40 PM

    Hello Huckabee Rangers!

I have a FairTax question that I'd like answered.

My lovely and gracious wife was promoting FairTax yesterday at the post office( before she was asked to leave).

A trucker, or someone involved in the trucking business was flat-out
AGAINST the FairTax. He stated that fuel was his biggest expense, and because of the FairTax, would literally put him out of business.

I understand the FairTax is not 100% foolproof, and am wondering is this a fuzzy area here, or will the FairTax actually help this trucker?

    Can someone explain?

    Helping Huckabee
    04/16/2008 06:38 PM

    Engineer for Huckabee,
I think the answer to your question about the truck driver and gas prices is that he won't be paying income taxes to the IRS. Also, since the gas stations won't be paying corporate taxes the gas price would go down and then when our 23% tax is added onto the gas the price will actually remain about the same as it is now (or whatever the price goes up to by that time). I hope that helps.

Mike, Thanks for reopening the blogs promoting candidates who support the Fair Tax.

I just got through reading all 77 comments written so far. I hope there are many more comments written as the word spreads that Mike is back.

I read one where someone suggests Mike give a Fair Tax speech every chance he gets. Here is the answer. The link to the Fair Tax speech Mike gave at the Fair Tax Rally, Jacksonville Landing Jan 2008, in it entirety.

Cut and paste and maybe someone can make it a hyperlink.

When handing out fliers on the Fair Tax 15 April I noticed a lot more interest. Now if we can get the same people who are interested to be motivated to join the Fair Tax grass roots spread the word, Congressional candidates who oppose the Fair Tax won't have a chance.

The Fair Tax would be a win win. For some proof, just read comments made on the blog. I especially like the ones made by accountants and those working second jobs. There were only a couple of negative comments.

It won't be long before the media will have to acknowledge it is time for The Fair Tax, the media will not be able to ignore Fair Tax Grassroots supporters.

The more people learn about The Fair Tax, they ask "Why haven't we heard about the Fair Tax before this, it sounds to good to be true". I here this all the time all I say is with the Fair Tax you would get taxed on what you spend, not on what you earn. You will no longer have to file 1040's or worry about 1099's. The Fair Tax is legislation in Congress HR25 and S1025. Your Congressional representatives should know all about it. Some fear it would give too much power back to the people.

I commend you, Gov. Huckabee, for your many liberating ideas and policy proposals, including reforming the tax codes in such a revolutionary way. I myself look to the Gospel where Christ carried not one penny of tribute coinage when asked by the Pharisees about paying taxes and had to ask for a coin to make his point. "And Jesus answering said unto them, Render unto Caesar those things that are Caesar’s, and unto G-d the things that are G-d’s." And Christ had not one penny of Caesar's.
Certainly, we need to see the Gospels applied in our laws consistent with the Lord's all enfolding love for his children. I urge you, Gov. Huckabee, to affirm the Christian faith as consistent with the American principles of Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness by signing the Evangelical Declaration Against Torture. Who would Jesus torture after all? Are we not here on this earth to witness to his will?

As an accountant I have an intimate acquaintance with the effect that the income tax deadline has on individuals and their families--on their personal lives. The current tax system is not just unfair or too complex, it is abusive and intrusive. It punishes honest people. It damages families and I believe quite possibly leads to premature death due to the stress caused by the annual tax deadline.

As an accountant, married to a tax accountant, I can see where the abolishment of the current tax system will negatively impact our family's ability to earn money as usual. However, this is such an important issue that it transcends the personal impact that this change might have for us. In the long run I know we will be better off and I challenge other tax accountants to set aside their personal gain for the better good of our country and its people. Those who founded our country were willing to give up much more than just a particular career--and most did give up much, much more--up to and including their very lives.

Our founding fathers were wise. They never wanted an income tax system for our nation. In fact, there is some evidence that the income tax was never properly ratified by all the states and is, therefore, illegal. It is time that our generation stepped up to the plate and lived up to the previous great generations. Let us be known as the generation that threw off the tyranny of the IRS and the current federal income tax system.

As my son prepares for serving us overseas, preparing his taxes is another hurdle he must overcome. This I can help him with, but I would much rather spend these last few and precious weeks before he deploys in some other way. I cannot go where he will go or do what he will do. But I can work to see that, when he comes back, another beautiful April WEEK (or more) will not be spoiled by the dreaded annual tax deadline.

I am 100% behind this site and made donations to both Bob Clegg and to the huckpac. I received a letter from Rick Davis wanting a contribution for McCain today. I replied that I was donating to McCain thru the Huckpac and also for other Republican candidates that shared MY beliefs. I told him I would be thrilled to donate directly to a McCain/Huckabee ticket and also to make calls for them as I had done for Huckabee. I told him I would vote for him as long as Romney was not on the ticket. (I said that was too far of a stretch for my principles!) He would get my excitement and enthrusiasm with Mike on his ticket!!! Just because we are working towards helping other candidates, we still need to talk about Mike Huckabee. Any state candidates we support, I would want to know whether they supported Mike. We need the right people in place in 2012. Part of the problem Mike had was getting public endorsements from some of the Seantors, Governors, etc. We can get the right people in office and make sure that won't happen again.

The Huck*Pac is one way value conservatives can influence the Republican Party to support our values and principles in the next few years. If they do not, then this network of supporters can be the foundation for forming a new party, The Conservative Party, and work to elect our candidate, Huckabee, in 2012 as president. One indicator will be if Huckabee is chosen V.P. by McCain and/or given a prominent speaking role at the national GOP Convention. If they ignore him, they are ignoring his supporters and we may need to all leave the GOP sooner rather than later. We may not a George Serros to donate millions of dollars to our cause, but if all true believers give a little, I believe God will multiply our funds to do whatever is needed to help Mike Huckabee become our national leader.

I am honored to use my time, money, resources to enable true conservatives who are willing to serve their God and country get elected. Complaciency and hopelessness come from Satan. To God be the glory, great things he has done and will continue to do when his people listen and obey his commandments.

The next time you hear a politician use the

word "billion" in a casual manner, think about

whether you want the "politicians" spending

    YOUR tax money.

A billion is a difficult number to comprehend,

but one advertising agency did a good job of

putting that figure into some perspective in

    one of its releases.

New Orleans (every man, woman, child), you

    each get $516,528.

    B. Or, if you have one of the 188,251 homes in

What happened? Can you spell 'politicians!'

I'm glad to see Mike's new website. Though the PAC idea is nice, it's more like a Republican party site though. I once said I wouldn't vote for McCain, but now, though I wouldn't campaign for or support him a dime, I might consider voting for him, just so we won't have a tax hike. Voting will always be choosing the lesser evil, that's the harsh reality. There's no ideal politician in this world. This is the hard fact that I've learned from this election. I was glad to hear McCain's proposal of two-rate tax for all, and I think it might be more possible to be accepted than fair tax which abolishes IRS completely. Lowering our taxes would definitely be a good thing for the economy, but fair tax is too drastic a change. Anyway, best wishes for Mike in his effort to support other Republicans. I'm not a political activist, so I'll just watch from a little distance. Looking back, I now do see many things Huckabee campaign could've done better. It's not totally without valid reason that Mike didn't win the majority. McCain is more common, middle ground, and less of a risk. Voters don't really want drastic changes, since they don't really trust any politicians. They know they are just politicians, and do and say things according to certain political interests. That's their job. They might give inspiring speeches on stage, they might seem to be warm and caring, but that's just part of the game to excite people and drive them toward the goal they have set up there for them. They say things they don't really mean. I think the general public will always want to be cautious, they'll settle with a moderate, average, not so smart, do nothing kind of guy, who won't go to extremes on anything, and people on both sides could live with his policies without too much grief. Mike's idealism, and the risky possibibilies he carries, as perceived by general voters, cost him the election. And I now realize Obama will also lose in general election, no matter how great a speech maker he might be, even if he beats Clinton right now. For after all, he has a high risk factor as well in the general public's eyes. Well, to think about what had happened during Mike's campaign, I realize now that somehow Mike, with his excellent speech ability, got me into an idealistic illusion about politics, but the reality of politics is not rosy to say the least. I now see Mike as a politican also after all, maybe a little better, but just a politician also. He has to do things according to his political interests, and he speaks about points that would gain him political capital. One little proof is: he wrote in his book about illegal immigrants in one way, and he changed his tone on the issue in the middle of the campaign. He also suddenly brought up China issue in the middle of the campaign, which he didn't mention at all before. Several other points, which showed he was touching on those issues or changing his position because of the possibility of winning some groups of people. It's not totally about values he stands for. It's unrealistic to expect any politician to stand for his convictions on all aspects. He has to manipulate what he says in order to please, to win over certain groups of people.

Waiting a week for Mike's new website was TORTURE! We missed you Mike!!!

I whole-heartedly support your decision to work hard to get people elected who stand for our values. That part of Huck*PAC is wonderful!

I switched from Republican to Independent several years ago, as I saw the GOP moving further and further away from my values. I respect your decision to work to get the GOP back to it's roots. Sadly, that is going to be a huge undertaking, but if anybody can cause positive change, it is YOU, Mike!

However...about McCain...I just can't get excited about him. I can't get motivated. I have no ummph for the guy. I don't want ONE single dollar going to his campaign.

So, this is where I disagree with you, Mike. Therefore, I won't be giving any money, because I'm afraid McCain might benefit from my contribution. But, I'll continue to check your website on a regular basis to keep up with what's going on.

In the meantime, I'm kind of excited to learn more about the Constitution Party. I'm going to start researching it today.

    We still like Mike!!!

    Governor Huckabee,

PLEASE go to Missouri April 23-26 and claim the Nomination of the Constitution Party and lead our nation, united into victory in November.

If Ambassador Alan Keyes could run for President in '08 in the Republican Party and switch to the Constitution Party in '08, so can you!

We don't care if you choose Duncan Hunter or Chuck Norris or HSLDA President Michael Farris to run with you as VP.

We don't even care if you get on the ballot in all 50 states.

We just want you back in the media speaking for us and telling the story of how Middle Class America needs the FairTax now to prevent a recession and to keep our homes and our jobs!

    Thank you and God Bless!

    Governor Huckabee,
As a college sophomore at a liberal school, UNC, I must say I met tons of students that you resonated with. Mostly the ones that could see right through Obama's speeches and recognize you as the next great leader in America. Even though you may be out of the race for the presidency, I have no doubt that you will make a great imp act on our country! I can't wait to get involved with your next campaign!

The following considerations are summarized from the original text of a conference given by Prof. Plinio Corrêa de Oliveira.

Although not an exegete, I naturally try to reason things out. Knowing that nothing happens fortuitously in the New and Old Testaments, it is according to the good rules of exegesis to ask why Our Lord fell three times.

This was not mere chance, like a plumber who falls three times while carrying a very heavy pipe. He fell once because he stumbled on a stone, another time because he was really tired or a third time because he was lazy. It was not something accidental.

Since Our Lord fell three times, the number three must correspond to high considerations and elevated reflections about weariness, suffering and even the number three itself.
Therefore, I will try to draw conclusions from the fact that the tiredness of Our Lord Jesus Christ was manifested in three falls as He carried His Cross.

I cannot investigate this matter as an exegete, but rather as a reasonable man with common sense.

    Legitimate and Illegitimate Tiredness

Clearly, there are two forms of tiredness. One is illegitimate, which Our Lord did not have. The other is legitimate tiredness that Our Lord did have.

Illegitimate tiredness exists when a person lacks love of God and carries his burden unwillingly. This is the tiredness of the slothful.

For example, a man who is accustomed to sleeping twelve hours a day, wakes up tired and spends the whole day tired, because he is lazy. Obviously, Our Lord never had this tiredness since He was Perfection Itself.

True Tiredness Has Three Degrees of Intensity

The First Degree: When Common Energies Become Exhausted

Common experience teaches us that there is also the tiredness of an active or dedicated man, which has three degrees of intensity. There are also three corresponding degrees of exertion and human resistance. Thus, it is reasonable to imagine that these three degrees relate to the three falls of Our Lord.

The first degree of tiredness is when a man carries a burden until all his common energies are exhausted and falls under its weight.

The very act of falling causes him to recover a bit and he has a second inspiration, whereby he mobilizes his more profound energy. Admirably controlling his body, he calls upon all the latent strength inside him. Although not accustomed to mobilizing this energy in daily life, he harnesses it and forges ahead.

During the first fall, man reasons: “This is terribly difficult! I cannot do it. However since it must be done, I want to carry this burden and make this effort despite its difficulty. I want to make this act of dedication and accomplish my mission.”

He reflects: “If I really dig deep, maybe I can summon new courage and find the strength I need to continue.”

Thus, there is a second mobilization of the soul’s energy. The soul makes a greater effort and moves on until the next fall: the second degree of tiredness.

    The Second Degree of Tiredness:

The Soul Makes Use of All It Has and Falls Again

In this second degree, the soul reflects: “I mobilized all that I had and did all that I could. Still, I have fallen again under the weight of this burden. Now, my energies are more exhausted than during the first fall. Nevertheless, I have already drawn from myself more than I ever imagined possible and I still want to move forward. I don’t want to give up.”

Tempted to discouragement, he considers: “Although my mission is noble and worthwhile, the weight of my burden has increased.” He has no more energy, so he increases his prayers and turns to Our Lady, saying: “My Mother, thou seest that, on my own, I can go no further. Either thou wilt help me more than before, or I will be unable to do what thou biddest me.”

Observing himself more closely, groping honestly through his energy reserves, he finds that there is still something left to sacrifice. His prayer has been answered. Besides the energy of which he was unaware, he finds new supernatural strength that permits him to continue. He rises a second time and advances, supported more by the angels than by himself.
He realizes that there was something more to give. Though unable to walk, he can still drag himself along. He has decided to accomplish his mission, even if he has to ask God for a miracle.

    The Third Stage of Tiredness:

    Everything Is Exhausted

In the third stage, he falls once again. He is a wreck and realizes he no longer has any capacity to resist. His available energies are completely exhausted. Still, he does not give in. He turns to himself and says:
“I must hope against all hope. Although I only have energy to stand, I must at least get back on my feet and try to take one step. Beyond this, everything is blind confidence, a dark night and total exhaustion, but I will walk no matter what. I will arrive at the end.”

He gets back on his feet and walks. In so doing, he gives something from the very depth of his being that he never imagined he possessed. He exhausts what truly is the last breath of his soul and performs the most complete act of love. Only then, when he gives himself entirely does he attain the clearest vision of his ideal.

He rises from the third fall, and takes a few more stumbling steps to arrive at the place of sacrifice. There, he is nailed to the cross and utterly immolated.

    The Three Degrees Summarized

These are the three degrees of tiredness, which correspond to the three stages of human dedication. In the first stage, one expends the energy that he knows he has. He asks for Our Lady’s help and the common assistance of grace.

In the second stage, he expends energy he scarcely thought he had and asks Our Lady with greater insistence to send special help, because he doubts that he can continue to walk with only the common assistance of grace.

In the third stage, he gives something far beyond what he thought he had. He finds a capacity for dedication and effort, beyond what he thought was possible. He advances amid total darkness, more by a miracle and absolute faith, than by any natural means.
Nevertheless, he continues to move forward. Finally, he fulfills his mission by a truly miraculous action. He is completely united with the supernatural.

When the Soul Has Given All It Can, It Attracts Souls

To the degree that he rises after each legitimate fall, man increasingly exudes the beauty of self-denial. This increases his capacity to attract others, because men loath egoism and flee from it. Men only follow those who deny themselves. Thus, only the man who has reached this ultimate point of self-denial and given all he can, is ready to attract souls.
This is why Our Lord, after having fallen three times, was ready to be shown to all peoples from the height of the Cross. He had already passed through this interior immolation. He had been despoiled of everything.

Still, the inexpressible sublimity of the Crucifixion takes place after the sacrifice is made. Our Lord had already carried the Cross all the way to Calvary and there, with even greater pains, allowed Himself to be crucified. His suffering increases until the moment He pronounces the “Consummatum est.” However, with the Crucifixion, He ceases to carry the Cross. From the moment He is nailed to it, the Cross carries Him.

There are stages in the spiritual life of every man, where he must carry his cross. Moreover, at times Our Lord calls man not only to accept what befalls him, but also to seek out what is terrible, tragic and apocalyptic and advance towards it. Only then, is he ready to go where Our Lord wishes. Then, he is ready to be nailed to the Cross and unite himself with Christ for all time.

Therefore, there are two stages and three dimensions of suffering. The first stage is to meet the Cross. The second is to let oneself be nailed to it. In the first stage, man goes to the apex of renunciation, successfully despoiling himself. In a second stage, having arrived at the apex of renunciation, he disposes himself to remain in it throughout his life and the cross becomes his support.

I'm still for you, Governor, but I am sorry you endorsed Senator McCain. I will still vote for you for President on June 3 in New Mexico, but I probably can't vote for McCain, Obama, or Clinton in November. Your ideas about helping the middle class and the poor are NOT represented by Senator McCain. The Fair Tax is not supported by Senator McCain.
I'm not too surprised or disappointed, because I know how politics is--a rough go in which one must compromise. But we loved you for NOT compromising. We hope you will get back to that and once again be our Shining Star.

I'm not sure what to think---will wait and see. I'll vote for Mike, but not McCain unless he's also on the ticket. Mike's right in that there was a beginning for a new movement with his run for office, but I'm hoping this is not more of the same old thing. A new movement isn't McCain, he's not got any new ideas. I'm with others, I'll not be sending ANY money to the RNC--I might as well re-register as an independenat after this primary. I still think the RNC must learn they cannot take social consevatives for granted. I think the dems were smart to have the Compassion forum the other night and I don't think McCain was wise to snub it---he may not be religious, but many are and he risks losing them in droves. Vote Mike.

For anyone who wants to learn more about the FairTax, I recommend reading either one of the books by Neal Boortz and congressman John Linder. The first is called "The Fair Tax Book", the second is "FairTax:The Truth, Answering the Critics". Either one will give you a good explaination of the FairTax.

Also, if you're interested, go to www.johnlinder.com
and you will have the opportunity to show your support as a citizen co-sponsor and invite others to do so as well.

    Welcome back Gov. Huckabee!

It's good to be up and running again. I finished my taxes last night at 1 am. When I came home from work tonight I immediately logged on here and made my first contribution. I will be locking for national candidates who specifically support the fair tax.
I am overjoyed to have the resources of Huck PAC available. I hope candidates looking for financial support read the blogs here. I am more then willing to trust Mike's instincts on good candidates for the house, senate and Governor's, but I will go the extra mile for a few exceptional candidates this year as we identify them.
